Oh yes, i also can remember to the hovercrafts. When i was i child, we used them to cross the channel. But in the early years they flew (?) from Ramsgate to Calais and they were complete coloured red like the backwings from the white ones. We often visited the hoverport to watch the hovercrafts, and my Moms uncle was working there as a mechanic.
i was on one the last flights of hover speed SRN4s great craft now slowly falling to pices in Gosport they dont look after their vintage hover craft at all
Oh the days! Is it possible for me to use and share this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, etc. Of course full credit will be given to the owner of the footage. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Cheers.
We used to take "HoverLloyd" years ago, everytime we went to England from France. From Calais to Dover ... It was the fastest way to cross the "Dover Straits" ... Very bumpy rides though.... But it was unique. Powered by "Rolls Royce" engines ... of course !
Fabulous way to cross the channel had the fortune to travel from both Pegwell Bay and Dover on a hovercraft, an experience I will never forget. Was very sad to see that all that remains is a single propellor pod somewhere in Dover Harbour, great shame
