Update: The second area cup is still happening even MORE STACKED with around 190 teams and... A fast comp of QR tetra dualie jr heavy beat the same machine team that won this event, even on eeltail, and undertow vs 3x machine flingza. They are currently in grands vs an inkbrush which I called top 5. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the brush team, definetly proof fast comps are the awnser: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E0i_pNy_niU.html
Goo Tuber is actually really fun as an anti-charger charger. It’s kit is basically perfect for disrupting the enemy charger while you run around and snipe their teammates with 2/3 charges. To put it another way, while most chargers are focused on taking a good position, goober is focused on forcing people into bad positions.
And it can do quick bamoozles and bonked Torpedo combos at Pro range while retaining decent run speed of barely charged shots, playing kind of like a fat Mini, or a Sloshing Machine sans cover abuse and easy hits.
@@unlockedocean176 Agreed. I find that the goo tuber (and even the reef lux) are really nice for contesting opponents that decide to take the high ground, such as mid on Scorch Gorge or Inkblot. Recently, I've been going for wall jump shots: Its hit or miss, but those are REALLY satisfying to make!
Gootuber is one of the funniest weapons ever made in any video game. The gameplay is literally coming out of the muck to instantly blow heads off violently with a half charged toilet snake.
personally i really like how the counter meta is more of a conceptual comp that changes the way the game is played by making it faster instead of it just being. a bigger stick that outclasses the sloshine stick
Oh also don't forget you can't take similar paths to targeted allies to escape, because then the delayed missiles will get you (this mostly applies to low levels).
@@xoiyoub The more you dodge, the more turf you lose to the missiles...But waiting until the last second to move is a death sentence if an enemy capitalizes on you _not_ moving!
I always saw the Tetras as a good weapon, being able to dash 4 times in a row (plus the potential of squid rolling) can be very difficult to deal with at times for the person on the receiving end. The special kinda holds it back in some ways, but a few buffs would make the Tetras a very potent aggressive weapon.
As a player who started in Splatoon 3, I was surprised to find out that not many people used Dark Tetras in Splatoon 2. Dark Tetras seem pretty good in Splatoon 3 and I run into them quite often.
@@MosesX-Labs the main reason was because of the gear ability "main power up." It gave damage up to a lot of weapons. The most prominent weapons being dualie squelchers, splattershot pro, and bamboo. Using main power up, they could get a chance to kill you in 1 shot less than normal. Splattershot pro could get to 99.8 damage in 2 shots, dualie squelchers to 99.9 in 3 shots, and bamboo to 99.9 damage in one shot. The main reason this affected dualies the worst is because you're almost always rolling through enemy ink. When you touch enemy ink, for even just a single frame, you take 0.6 damage (unless you're using any ink resistance, in which case the amount you're using affects how long it takes to take damage from enemy ink).
One way to make missiles not as broken and tri strike better: Take missiles’ ability away to enter squid form while being used and give it to tri strike
"Don't worry, everyone! It's me, Goo Tuber Man!" "Hey, it's Tenta Missile Man!" *depression* My rework idea is to have the missiles linger in the air for a short while so you have a chance to shoot them down, and just show the landing points of the missiles instead of marking the player. Basically a long range torpedo rush. It's got actual counterplay to it, and it can still distract or displace for a push.
something else about machine, that honestly feels like a bug, is that it completely invalidates ink vac. For whatever reason the shot can go right through the vortex and very often I'll see an ink vacjust get killed instantly by machines. Such a powerful ranked objective special yet its greatest weakness is the current meta weapon
Goo tuber can apply an insane amount of pressure with the insane charge hold basically being able to threaten anyone in sight and missiles being able to pressure people out of sight
Tenta Brella: "Man, I've got great fundamentals, but my shield is bugged! The enemy can just shoot through it, and it often ascends into the aether by bumping into stuff!" Sloshing Machine: "That's rough buddy. Don't worry though, you're not alone, I'm bugged too." Tenta: "Really? How so?" Machine: *"My shots can hit people through objects and stage geometry and my attacks ignore your special weapon"* Tenta: . . . Wow. What a _terrible curse._
As prevalent as it is, I like machine main weapon & glad it has a more usable kit (compared to the tad mess it had for 2). Hope we get those indirect fixes to fix it! (Like ya said maps & Last ditch) The direct fix for wall clipping and ink wall clipping sound neat. Makes me excited to play grizzco sloshing eventually in 3
I have a general question, that's only tangentially related, How do maps get picked for tournaments? Do the organizers pick at random? Is it decided ahead of time? Maybe you could make a video about the meta aspects of competitive, like how to get started with a team, and basic outside-the-game aspects like that.
Hey there. I’m a new player and I just recently got S rank. Goo Tuber is so much fun. I tried using E-Liter but it’s not the same. I do find myself wishing that the Goo Tuber had a bit more range but kit just works so well with it. Also I slept on the Splattershot Jr. It helped me get to S for Clam Blitz and Splat Zones. S+ tier weapon. Love your content!
I'm glad someone is pointing out how bad the maps are. I keep telling people how much I struggled without ninja squid due to open maps, and people tried to say it wasn't open due to the small amounts of measly cover lying around. I then remind them to look at Port Mackerel and tell me these current maps aren't open as all hell. In fact, Wahoo world is the LEAST open map of all the current maps....That is just sad...
the problem with the maps is more that there are tons of choke points which makes displacement specials much better, since you have to retreat or else you die, especially with missiles marking your position.
I was surprised to see you say that Machine has bad mobility when, as far as walking speed is concerned, its basically a gatekeeper for what is considered a fast weapon. Like, it gets outpaced by N-Zap, Splattershot Jr, Mini Splatling, and any equivalents to those, so the REALLY fast weapons, but as far as anything lacking exceptional speed goes? Machine's walking speed will be able to outpace anything else (Run Speed Up aside.) The slowest of the fast, the fastest of the normal paced. (And of course, memories of Splatoon 1/early Splatoon 2 where its walking speed was equal to N-Zap.) But looking across a broader spectrum, I'd imagine that the real mobility weakness comes in the form of its slow fire rate and rather specific painting area. When going into enemy territory, swimming in your own paint, then jumping out and giving a quick shot to try to move forwards, and then immediately swimming again, this technique will take longer to perform than average, and create a relatively thin line to move through which won't really be safe. So it takes even more of your low-fire-rate shots to create safe passage through enemy territory. Even if Machine's strafing speed is high tier, its rate of fire and paint area per shot are too collectively low to gain map control efficiently. Then, of course, needing more shots to paint a decent area ALSO plays into its lackluster ink efficiency, requiring more reloading, taking even MORE time.
@@bugface8565 I disagree, losing mpu on squiffer was a massive nerf, I think they now each have their own place in the game now, if anything I feel the opposite, gootuber outclasses squiffer, especially with its… questionable kit. Really Nintendo? Point sensor and big bubbler?
@@bugface8565 can't help but disagree. the Squiffer is indeed quite good, but it's still beaten out in range by the Goo Tuber and can't take advantage of Squid Surges or Rolls to the same extent the Tuber is capable of doing. The Tuber saw some success with weapon specialists even back in splatoon 2, it just was never a very popular pick because it has a high skill floor compared to the relatively low skill floor squiffer and Bamboozler which filled a similar niche and had far superior kits (remember the Gootuber was shackled with fucking Splashdown of all things on a charger)
This shows that humor far outclasses balance. If it's funny, yeah idk that it's broken or unfair or difficult to fight against... *It's really funny and that's all that matters*
The "Deutsche Splatoon Bundesliga" (German Splatoon League) which is basically LUTI, but just for the Germanic countries actually banned having more than one Sloshing Machine on your team because of how strong it is right now
Ok here’s something you can do against machine: strafe diagonally towards it to get in close to splat them. Do this by painting a diagonal line relative to the machine, or if your weapon is long range like a splattershot pro, make it almost perpendicular to them and use your extended range, or just use a crab tank.
I think it’s clear that Nintendo knows at least something about how much most people hate missiles given the weapons they have given it to. If the Splatoon 2 Missile weapons like KShot or VJet are like rats, Splatoon 3 Goo Tuber and the others are like those ground-scurrying flightless birds in New Zealand that evolved to have the same niche as rats, but are a bit different, but nevertheless successful in the absence of rats. (At least, I think. It’s been a while since I heard about this.) I hope Nintendo sticks the landing with this eventually and gives missiles to more relatively unorthodox builds that could actually benefit from the approach options due to low paint or something.
This is unrelated to any tournament stuff, but the other day I ran into someone who five-stared a weapon for the first time in anarchy, and they did it with _the gootuber of all things_
fun fact i was a goo tuber + flingza main in splat 2 and now that BOTH of them are missile spammers ive been picking up explo. i can NOT just be the missiles guy LOL its just not a good look
Well goo tuber is for sure good cause of it's kit. I think it can't be understated that the goo tuber is good also in Splatoon 3 in particular because the weapon works really well with the new mobility in this game. And sure, that's kinda true for all weapons, but I just feel like there's so much you can do with this weapon in this game that you just couldn't in S2. They just made it better in every way.
Has nintendo ever done map reworks? I know it's common in other games but I'm not sure if it'll happen. I personally dont hate the maps but I'm also not a comp player. I wish nintendo would consult more with their high level community when designing and testing maps, like other shooters do. Also PLEASE DO MORE META ANALYSIS I love this.
I feel like the sloshing machine might be the only meta where clash blaster would actually be good. With the huge amount of area of effect weapons in the meta (mainly sloshing machine) and the fact that sloshing machines struggle in close range, I'm pretty sure this is the perfect time for clash to shine, since it combos with machine's direct and it is efficient against in close-range.
The machine should only get a minor nerf if it gets nerfed. It's the shooters that should get nerfed like splash sshot and definitely 52. It wouldn't be able to move so freely if every shooter didn't feel like an aerospray.
God yes, please. The shooter meta needs to get killed, we've had it since Splatoon 2 and it's getting stale. The kit they gave to the .52 in particular in S3 is just adding insult to injury.
goo tuber is fun to play :) the tap shot kills and the half charge kills are so satisfying torpedo is fun and missiles are satisfying 10/10 would goo again
I would appreciate a video on how to counter Missile Spam (if there is any) when enough info or footage is available Edit: best counterplay would be literally just removing them
Yeah, one of the things that make missiles so bad for the game is that they have no counter play. Someone can literally build the special and track/displace/kill the entire enemy team without ever having to interact with them.
I think the way this weapon could be reworked is by having it gain charge while in squid form. It's bad enough now that I don't think that would make it even a mid-tier.
EVERYONE! Please let me know if I’m the only one who didn’t know this, but *fizzy bomb has a charge up!* I think it has two charges until it stops charging, and the longer it charges, the more times it explodes. This is life changing, so thanks to everyone who read this far!
goo tuber mains rise. say its name right, GOAT TUBER as a goo tuber main since splat2, glad people r realizing goo tuber is infact kinda good. the good inking, the super quick kill (you can kill at like 20% if enemy is slightly damage) and the onfense/defense of the goobert.i just hope they dont nerf it since its a shit weapon at base, but its really good especially in random since no one knows how to fight against it lmao
I also feel like Booyah Bomb needs a nerf. It feels so much like a Panic Button. It's not like OG Splashdown where you're basically invincible, but you have so much armor and you can just throw the bomb at your feet.
I am a casual player who hopes to go pro in a few years, but still has so much to do before that happens. I mostly CURRENTLY main Range, H-3, L-3, N-Zap, Jr., Flingza, and, you guessed it… Sloshing Machine. This… scares me. I am just a casual currently, so fighting a nerd is going to be more of an uphill battle for me than it would be for someone who is already a pro. I enjoy the kits they’ve given my CURRENT mains this game, though! They made me change my play style from Splatoon 2 and just made the third game more enjoyable! So I hope they change the stages instead of nerfing the main. It’s so fun right now! And as a casual, the game and comps in general seem pretty balanced for being so close to release. Sure I see so many Hydras, Jrs, Flingzas, Sploshes and Ranges, but I also see much more variety than I ever saw in Splatoon 2. Long story short, Meta fun, even if a bit crazy, casuals wouldn’t want change but understand that Pros do. Great video, by the way!
I really need to keep in touch with this comp scene. Where can i watch these matches? Cause im kinda new in all of this. 2's many unexplained mechanics kinda overwhelmed me so im trying to keep up
Goo tuber is unironically my charger of choice because I like the idea of the longer charge hold...might pick up squiffer too due to fast/air charge ...this is all coming from an Inkbrush main so take nothing I say seriously, I exist to cause chaos Also while I'm not a competitive player, .52 gal seems like a perfect counter to machine. Wall combined with one of (if not the) fastest kill time in the game means machine can NOT take meaningful engagements on a .52 gal, and wail to exploit their poor mobility basically forces them to retreat or die. At least that's what I think
