That "People hate you" was a very uncomfortable truth I probably needed to hear. Thanks, Philip. I'll pick up some socks now and make balls out of them.
@@casimirwallwitz8646 yeah if you thin about it, if you wasted 4k+ on this game like me you start to hear something back from your environment + the 4k hours make others who didnt invest that much energy in the gamd hate you
"No one is impressed with your counter-strike ability" I don't know what it is about that sentence. I don't even play CS nor do I take pride in my non existent gaming skills. But still, I had to download the video an cut that specific part out so I have it as the perfect counter whenever the opportunity arrises.
the first half of this video is so wierd, no bgm or many sarcastic/funny remarks, just seems so wholesome or sincere. actually really makes me want to start to juggle.
Me too. Philip's videos to me are almost like they're on an entirely different platform from RU-vid. I didn't even start playing Counter-Strike for more than a 1-off match only to get bored and quit, until a few days ago, but I've been interested in watching his content for probably 4 or 5 years now because it's all very comforting to me. He might be a super nerd but he's really genuine and clearly passionate about what he talks about at the very least. And I also really enjoy his music too. I think the track used in this video is my favorite of his actually. Anyway yeah, great guy Philip.
@@KeWDu Oh I mean super nerdiness makes it good. The passion and attention to detail are two of the biggest reasons why I enjoy anything he posts, and rewatch his videos about creating the best stairs 4 times
@@henrymunnich1648 this might sound weird but there was this like 2 and a half hour compilation of Philip talking about his nostalgia and I would fall asleep to it sometimes. Now it's gone. ):
I learned to juggle after watching your "Going up the Juggling Hierarchy" videos about 2 years ago and it quickly became a huge hobby of mine and a defining feature of that time in my life. I got to being able to flash 7 and qualify 6 before i stopped. Never would have learned to juggle if not for those videos so ty for that phillip. Also, I still go back to watch those videos from time to time because of just how good they are at articulating the experience of improving at juggling.
I actually started juggling again because of your "Going up the Juggling Hierarchy" videos when I watched them about 1.5 years ago. I met some people at a local juggling group, and even became friends with some Dutch record holders. I saw them every week before the lockdown. I even performed a couple of times with them (even though I personally don't like performing) All because of those videos you made 7 years ago. Thank you. PS: I'm liking the juggling oriented videos you've made lately, it's the perfect hobby for a lockdown.
I don't know why, but I really like you. There's something about you that's very likeable. You know how you can just kind of tell when someone's lying or telling the truth, being themselves or not? I guess you just seem like a genuinely nice guy and I appreciate that as well as your content.
This video made me finally commit to my desire to juggle, watched this in the evening of the 21st and decided to make 3 balled up pairs of socks. Now, 4 days later, I have hit 50 catches twice and average 25-35 catches before a drop. Can't wait for lockdown to be over so I can get some proper juggling balls that actually weigh the same as each other... Turns out juggling was as easy and rewarding to learn as you said it was. Thank you. Edit: 6th of May. Have now hit 84 catches , and can get to 50 almost every try. Have started learning tricks, but so far only attempted the reverse cascade. Also I found a single juggling ball, and 2 other similar sized balls, laying around.
it was 1:00AM when I watched this, it is now 1:30AM and I can juggle 3 balls for 4 catches. sincerly, thank you edit: it's been 10 minutes, I can now do it for 6 catches. Philip, you are truly an inspiring man.
@@2kliksphilip I juggled a bit every day since, now I can do like 10 if I really concentrate. Again, thank you for the inspiration, with this much motivation I will never stop
@@randomguy1592 I don't know what exactly you did or if you know this already, but what basically there is never more than one ball in the air. You throw the first ball from one hand to another, and then before it lands you kind of switch the ball in the air and the ball in you hand, by throwing the ball in your hand just before the ball in the air lands, and so on and so forth. Try to watch the part when he juggles normally at the beginning in slow motion, and don't give up :) this comment is from three weeks ago, I practiced every day and now I can easily juggle for a pretty long time
Hey Kliks, i have to say that your old juggling vids inspired me to start juggling seriously back in high school. At first i would practice and just have fun with school board marker caps.. i would pick up three caps and throw them around.. later i took it seriously and practiced with tennis balls, and damn those were pain in the ass.. they are just too big and bounce off too far away upon collision.. but in college i watched your vids one more time and bought actual juggling balls. I mastered regular 3 ball cascade, i can do 4 ball "cascade" for about two minutes(i know its not a real cascade).. right now im trying to smooth out the 3 ball "mess" thing because it really is one of the best maneuvers. I can also juggle 5 balls but fore just a few seconds, its really hard. And yes picking them up time after time is the only way, but learning it in just one hour is impossible! Took me a whole week of one hour a day just to juggle 3 balls for a longer period of time. Greetings from Serbia
@@gasper5223 I mean it was just a joke. It just seems like something you WOULD HAVE TO learn at clown school. Is he making yall learn juggling so yall can apply it to the mech E class?
About 10 years ago, my friend's mum showed us a video of their family friend juggling. Thought nothing of it for years until I randomly stumble across a juggler called Alex Barron, I look through his channel and realise its the same guy that my friends mum my showed us. I thought this was really crazy to randomly stumble across this guys videos, but then I look at the comments of (I think) the exact video she showed us, and I see that you had left a comment on that video 10 years ago. I thought that finding the video alone was enough, but seeing your 10 year old comment feels like one of the biggest coincedenses of my life
"Keep picking up those balls" - still sounds like it relates to juggling "Picking up those balls" - yup, still does "Up those balls" - nonsensical, vaguely implies to increase the amount of balls "those balls" - indicates which balls we are referring to, somewhat usable as a joke relating to genitals "balls" - haha get it it's the funny word because genitals
Now it's 8 month since I watched the video and ordered rubick's cube after that. It's been quite a journey too. Right now, I'm solving it in sub-25 seconds (my goal is sub-18), it became sort of my addiction. Overall it's fun and became possible thanks to this video. Maybe, I should also start juggling, one day.
I started juggling, when I saw it in your last video, I have always been impresses with you skills but now in quarentine I actually had time to practice. I went from not being able to juggle AT ALL to managing 30 catches with 3 balls and upto 50 with two in one hand within a week. I have always been very thankful of your existence as for some reason you motivate me to do things. I also picked up game making and learned to code when your game making journey came out and to this day it is my favourite series on youtube (i also rewatch it multiple times a year and get a feeling of nostalgia and child like excitement every time). Thank you.
Just yesterday I watched your old "going up the skill ranks" juggling videos. I learned how to do 3 balls fairly well about a month ago but had retired it due to not knowing what to do next. This video has inspired me to give it another try. Probably one of my favorite videos done by you to date.
Haha i've been learning juggling for the past week obsessively thanks to your juggling in half life alyx video inspiring me lol! Thanks for introducing me to this new hobby I'm up to over 100 catches with 3 balls and have some tricks including an incredibly unreliable and messy mills mess
I don't really know how to get in touch with you, but I recently bought a 3D printer and by now, I dont really need it... I would love to send it to your PO box or something... Get in touch with me if you want it, I'm sure you'll have a lot more creative fun with it than I ever will. Just be sure to make content out of it so I won't ever get bored. :)
A lot of stuff in this video applies to many hobbies in some ways. I found myself constantly comparing everything you said, your tips, your experiences, with a rhythm game I play on Steam. It's called Audiosurf 2. Not everything translates perfectly of course, but the things about practicing daily, making progress every day, upping the difficulty, trying out new tricks, even the online leaderboard that disappeared and was replaced by communities that don't feel the same. They all have their parallels. I also used to be a lot more active with that game, then didn't play for a while after getting really good. Now I'm gradually coming back to it, and it's still as much fun to me as ever.
I started juggling like 3 weeks ago. Currently I can do 150+ with 3 balls cascade, 50+ with 2 balls left hand and 75+ right hand. I got motivated because I saw the video where you juggle in the mountains and that looked so freaking cool that I did promise my self to learn how to juggle (plus i thought this will be a good way to exercise in these quarantine days). I injured my right elbow tendon yesterday (idk how, but it still hurts and I stopped practicing with it, which helped me to focus on the left hand and that's why I managed to hit 54 catches today with it) My next goals are to "master" the 2 balls juggling (100+ per hand) after which I will try hard the 4 balls pattern. Next I will learn some tricks with 3 balls, and after it I will try hard for the 5 ball pattern. My ultimate goal is to hit at least 100 catches with 5 balls and then go to the beautiful mountain near my city and record a video , where I will tell my story of how/why I started juggling (at this moment if the quarantine continues I will probably try at least to qualify for the 7 ball pattern). You are making awesome quality videos Philip i really enjoy most of them but my favorite one is the Operation Flashpoint Nostalgic Review, I re-watch it once every 5-6 months for the last 3-4 years (probably because it gives me the best nostalgic feelings) but anyway, I wish you to stay healthy and best of luck in these dark times. You will hear from me when I'm done with my juggling video (i guess in 3-4 months), I promise that I will send it to you (somehow). Greetings from Bulgaria.
Having watched your 3 previous vid os on juggling several times i must say i really did enjoy this one. You are the reason i got into juggeling at the start of the quarantine.
@@2kliksphilip It's said by the consoling couple just before you meet Barney, I think there's a peephole on the above floor to spy on them talking behind you and Alyx's back.
I've managed around 6 catches with two balls one handedly with like half an hour of doing it and I find that I really enjoy it, thanks for introducing me to a new hobby.
Alright listen here Phillip. I started juggling 11 months ago after seeing this video. I've been juggling sitting infront of my desk a lot, and I think it has been really helpful learning to juggle while sitting. It has helped me learning to juggle using mostly my wrists since there is no room to move you arms while sitting in a gamer chair. I'm now juggling 6 and 7 balls while sitting in my chair - though more air space is definetily needed. I'm not recommending only juggling while sitting but don't be afraid to do so
I love rewatching this video because every time I do I see one more trick that I've learned since last time. It really helps with my sense of progression. Thank you Philip!
I started juggling because of you Philip. I don't put much time into it but I have pretty solid foundation with 3 balls (I even learned some tricks) and I'm learning 4 balls now but it is much harder. Thanks, it is really cool and fun hobby.
There's a trick to start: rythm. Punctuate each beat in your mind: find a decent slow and fast enough tempo, and quantizing helps (split each beat into 2 halves and assign throw/air/catch actions).
Thank you or making this video Philip. I am enjoying the fun of feeling and seeing tangible improvement every time I pick up the balls. I've gone from feeling like juggling is totally impossible to actually managing 15 catches with 3 balls. You've inspired me to document my juggling journey as well.
Yo Philip, I got inspired to juggle because of your videos. At first I just thought it was cool, then a year later or so I was like maybe I'll actually try this juggling thing. Got some balls yesterday and managed 6 catches with 3 balls. The progress is addictive. It's my new hobby. Super fun.
I started juggling two years ago in thailand. I was in a small "hippy village" in the middle of nowhere. I stayed at a pretty cool hostel tripping on mushrooms when I saw a couple juggling. The pattern of the throws were so nice to look at and I asked them if they could teach me. I literally learned juggling while tripping and I practised for 3 hours straight. Still doing it to this day (juggling not tripping)
I started juggling yesterday, just after this video came out. After all, I have nothing better to do. And, with no prior experience with juggling, I can now (sort of) juggle 3 balls with my record being 27 catches (still a noob). Thanks Philip, for giving me something else to waste my time on.
The night after I wrote this comment, I had a strange dream. I was in my bed, trying to get to sleep, and Philip burst through the door, spanish inquisition style. From each of his sleeves, he produced 8 juggling balls, and began impossibly juggling them all. He then walked out, and I followed him. We weren't in my house at all, we were in a huge castle, philled with pianos (excuse the pun). He then sat down at a piano, and played the dragonborn theme from skyrim, while still juggling, throwing up a ball inbetween each note. The dream ended there, but the fact that it was just a dream seems like 'a cop-out'.
It's really cool finding out youtubers you watch are jugglers. My dad taught me when I was 12 but I didn't enjoy it until I learned to do it on my unicycle. Also nice Anthony Gatto reference
10/10. Convinced me to pick up my 3 juggling sacks which have been sitting in a drawer ever since I first saw you juggle in a video. Let's see if this second hit of inspiration motivates me enough to actually invest more time than 15 minutes, haha.
I started watching you for the gaming content, but when you are talking about yourself and your own experiences, it always feels so down to earth and wholesome. Thank you for this video, it made me interested in something I would never have even considered, though I imagine that the fact that I'm a massive klutz won't exactly make it easy to get good at.
Thank you for making this video. I've started to juggle the day you have posted it, but with 2 socks instead of 3. I think what you've forgot to mention is, that for a person not used to throwing balls between the hands, even 2-ball juggling can become quite difficult. 3 ball juggling was nearly impossible for me at the beginning, i couldnt even throw 2 balls in the air and catch them. But after enough practise with 2 balls, the transition to 3 balls felt really easy for me. What i've noticed is, that you need weight to your balls. Once i got my juggling balls in the mail, juggling became way easier to do. I'm currently working on my 3-ball tricks and enjoying the process a lot. So thank you again!
I never juggled, but I know what you mean with the satisfying feeling of progress. I'm a mountain biker and I really like to improve my riding technique, so manuals, bunny hops, endos, etc. It is so satisfying to see yourself progress with those skills and string all of them together. It's the smoothness of execution of these that makes me love to do it. Even when commuting I throw in obstacles try to be as stylish as possible, not to show of, but to get that experience of flowing from one feature to another seamlessly. Great video :)!
Your progression is really impressive. It took me nearly a year to master 5 balls as my brain would always overthink trying to flash 5 and I would constantly find myself freezing up and not being able to do it for long periods of time. But to this day I find it very exhausting even with lighter balls. I was never able to consistently learn the 4 ball mills mess. I've had really good runs and then other times where they just collide non stop. I do agree with the 3 ball mills mess though. There's a day where it just clicks and suddenly you are doing it. I actually felt like I wasn't even juggling when I first successfully was doing it. My sister to this day can't figure out how to make it flow and move smoothy. I have some runs with 6 balls but sadly I haven't juggled much since college a few years ago. The lack of having someone else to juggle with and everything just getting a lot harder to consistently improve quickly turned me off from the fun I originally had. I missed the days of 3 balls where I was learning new tricks like every week for the first few months. I ended up winning my schools talent show. I also hate how my face looks when I juggle, I concentrate too much and I envy those who can be doing some of the hardest stuff and look completely normal like Jason Garfield. My favorite juggler by far is Wes Peden as he is just as much technical as artistic. He has put out several juggling videos over the years that are just amazing to watch. I was lucky enough to meet him in person a few years ago. My goal is to still one day juggle 7 balls and 5 clubs. I hope to get back into it again. But man your numbers are crazy good. Most people watching this have no idea how hard that really is. That's the problem with juggling. Lamen tend to think tricks like eating an apple are harder than 5 club back crosses. They have no idea the years of dedication it takes to get to those points. You must have been naturally gifted to achieve what you did in such a short period of time. But I bet it took many long days as well.
Yooo, nice to see a fellow juggler! I also recently got back to it with all the time I have and am slowly making progress with five balls. This time of year is when I would attend a juggling festival, too bad it couldn't happen :(
