Just if anyone is wondering, TANDEM round isn't any more devastating than HEAT in real life. It's just that TANDEM has two shaped charges, one to detonate ERA block/composite armor and second to pierce trough armor. HEAT has just one shaped charge and usually fares poorly against ERA/composite armor equipped tank, but does just fine against APCs and transport vehicles.
@@A_Honcho it might not do much. HEAT rounds work best against lightly armored and medium armored vehicles like MRAPs or APCs. Against unarmored vehicles, the tandem warhead might just pass through a side without detonating or detonating at sub optimal depths.
if your facing a main battle tank, or any other tracked vehicle, i find it alot more valuable to use your regular heat round first to track the vehicle, then finish it off with the tandem. if it is at all possible, you should always be trying to immobilise the vehicle on your first shot IMO and when the hitting the tracks, the tandem round wont do any extra damage, they will both just knock the tracks off and thats all. once the vehicle is immobilised, you have alot more options available to reposition and hit a critical part of the vehicle.
I actually fell foul of this last night 😂 Just the HEAT round to track a 72 from my Gustaf, sucsessfully tracked it but what I failed to notice was he spun 180 so when I put my Tandem in it was eaten by the track I hadn't damaged 😂😭
@Peppabot 1000 the engine is protected by armour at the back and sides (though less at the back) so you could only get a first hit disable with at least 1 tandem warhead if aiming to engine it (almost all heavy anti tank kits in the game carry 1 tandem round and 1 HEAT round). so the reality is, that you would achieve the same thing (disabling the vehicles movement) but you've used up the only round youve got that can penetrate the tanks armour so your ability to damage further is basically zero. if its a bmp or something less than a main battle tank a regular heat round can still hurt. but main battle tanks just laugh off regular heat rounds. the other thing to consider is how easy it is to hit the target. rarely does a tank offer its behind directly up to you perfectly still at the ideal angle. so when considering a tank moving at speed perpendicular to you, if aiming for the engine. you restrict yourself to having to hit the upper rear third of a moving tank. if aiming for the tracks you have the entire lower half of the tank.
Don't forget to learn how to use stadiametric rangefinding on scopes that have them That, combined with the rest of the scope can make you scary in terms of accuracy, especially the RPG-7V2.
At less than 100 meters you will have to use the top half of the scope for the tandem, as a HAT player with over 800 hours, the RPG 7 is one of my favorite kits simply because of the extra challenge when having to range targets, though it's less effective simply because of the difficulty ranging you can actually get HEAT or frag rockets up to and over a kilometer, your can also get nearly 300 meters out of the tandem by using the very bottom of the scope, the RPG 7 tandem is more often best used as an ambush weapon instead of actively pursuing a target simply because of it's short range, other tandems with much further effective ranges can be used to actively hunt enemy armor, the RPG 29 kit easily being the best in my opinion, with two tandems you can kill a tank at full health if you know what you're doing
I would also like to make the note that the lateral lines on the PGO are almost entirely useless, the original PGO was designed to counter the M60 MBT the v2 is technically designed to counter the M1A1, but the lateral lines are still only semi-usable in that instance, against APC'S IFV'S and scout vehicles, these lines cannot reliably be used as speed indicators, unless the vehicle is traveling at a constant velocity that you know (either from experience or magic) and you know how to properly lead the target with your specific rocket, you're not hitting shit, it's often times best to save your rocket unless you are absolutely sure of your ability to strike, unless you have a fuck load of hours don't go making trick shots with your rockets, this is a Milsim, getting them back is a bitch, I can't tell you how many hours I've run around yelling at blueberries to give me their fucking ammo bags, save the boom for optimal targets, and unless you have assets nearby, tracking a tank isn't always the best use for your HEAT, killing a IFV APC scout vic, or even logies is sometimes more tactically advisable than gently smacking a tank just because you can.
I main HAT if you're using the tandem RPG 7 always shoot just a little higher than what you need. Doesn't need to be much but you might find it more consistent. You're shooting a brick
The only thing you got wrong with this is the Big cross is 50m for the Heat round and the small one is 100m. I just checked on the Squad official wiki. I also learned this from MoiDawg's video on every RPG in the game :)
As a real grenade launcher of the Russian army, I can say that there is also a horizontal wind correction calculated by the formula, the shooter must be able to calculate and determine the wind speed ❤
Tandem is just 2 HEAT rounds slapped together to defeat ERA and some composites. It doesn’t do more damage IRL just penetrates more armor if that makes sense
I believe the big cross is actually the 50m mark for regular HEAT. Also, the double line at the 300m mark is the tandem's 50m crosshair. Finally, HE rockets use the same indicators as HEAT uses (even if this is inaccurate to irl)
Fun fact, the frag warhead uses the same aim points as the tandem, as it lacks the rocket stage and is only the warhead connected to booster. Idk if thats modeled in squad, but since squad hates the AT kit, i wouldn't be surprised if it wasnt. Like, who careies an rog unloaded?
What a joke this game is sometimes. You hit a helo with an rpg 29 and it doesn’t destroy it, wheres in real life you can melt right trough it with even a disposable LAT weapon, same with logistic trucks, you hit it with an AT4 right in the cabin and he just keeps going like nothing happens. 😆
I actually found someone the other night who was panicking on how to read the scope. I quickly talked him through it and he ammo racked the Bradley first shot
I would love to have a relatable moment in this video however I can barely even start the game without it crashing on me, and with me searching ever on finding an answer I found nothing 😢
I'm surprised he uses heat second... We use heat first for better accuracy for tracking, or otherwise immobilizing, vehicles then tandem for the kill as it's slower and has a lot more drop off.
I absolutley despise this HAT kit and I'm a HAT main. Soley because if you dont have an exact range its off. If they are 105 meters, and you are aimed at the turret, it hits dirt
Kinda odd that those rounds aren't able to fly far away. I mean RPG-2 could do ~200m IRL and RPG-7 can go up to 950m where self-destruction fuse goes off
Why does you sight picture look so clear. When using this on my screen (even when I push the focus key) my sight picture is almost transparent and I takes me at least 30 seconds to even line up a shot.
No one would use vehicles if they were all instant 1 shot. As for infantry, Head shots are instant drops and drastically reduce the time medics have to revive them.
I don’t know how to tell you this but that’s how vehicles work in war. A single shot in the right place by the right ordinance instantly kills them bad shots or bad weapons don’t
