I don't think he's underrated, he's just a weird champ that most people won't put the time into trying to master. Champs like him are in and out of the meta all the time so it's not always worth the time trying to learn his play style when you'll probably be hard nerfed in 2 patches anyway.
And a painfully op 1 too Put your link onto a engage/assassin champ and its a auto stun, Put your link on your healer,support, adc, mages, or just low health teammates and you'll drag out the fight. Hes great paired with Jax where he gets stronger the longer the fight is and is very mobile. He can be paired with olaf so he can get olaf a stun in order for olaf to get on top of the enemy You can pop your fed talon,kat,zed etc your ult and they'll wipe out the team without worrying about dying for 2 seconds

As someone who have played taric jungle for quite a while I can say the old item shop was a lot better for jungle taric. You could buy a ton of useful items which gave him speed slows etc instead of only 1 mythic which leaves him quite weak towards more modern mobile kite champs. And the trick of healing over walls when farming rarely works as people are too dumb to understand the pings and what you are trying to tell them lol. But if you get a team that understand how his linked stun and heal works then you are set for a fun game!
I put into chat specifically that when I ping, come near me for a heal. Then I will ping assist before pinging where I want them to stand. 80% of the time it works because even an dumb animal can understand those basic instructions of "Oh, they are saying they want help. Oh, they are pinging where I should stand. I shall do this". The ones that don't, I will mute them becuase you just know that they'll scream at you when they die under tower. It's also a good indication of what lanes you should focus on. Does bot lane follow your basic instructions? Great, that's a good indication to focus on them. Did they ignore your heal? Maybe try elsewhere. It's very VERY rare that all lanes won't take the free heal. I found those games to be the toughest.
Ahh yes, lightrocket2. My favorite elo terrorist. I've been a fan of him for over a year and it's pretty insane how this pick works, since you won't really expect this pick(like any off-meta pick) and enemies get surprised about how much sustain and damage he deals. Definitely one of the best off-meta picks, imo.
quick correction here as a taric jg enjoyer like 1 patch after durability update taric q got changed to where Taric Q mana cost is now a flat cost instead of scaling up so its actually better to max q now edit: its a flat 60 mana just checked

Quick note about Taric's q: Its mana used to scale with rank and it would cost quite a lot. So what you'd do (especially in support) is to put 2 points in q to utilize the 2 charges the passive will give and max w or e depending on meta. However, now Taric's q costs 60 at all ranks, so maxing q, depending on context, is not wrong any more (specifically for mana reasons). Having said that, it is still better to go 2 points in q since the healing is not Taric's main focus, but the cd reduction to his e (mostly) and w.
I honestly believe Taric jungle is not an off-meta pick, it's just extremely underrated and hard to coordinate with your teammates. His clear is faster than many of the meta junglers, he has pretty influential ganks with "double" stun and he can win the teamfight just with using his ulti. He's definitely way more complex than picks like Jarvan, but still a lot more useful. Should be considered as a great proplay pick, especially because he can be flexed support, maybe even top.
Was playing ranked in silver and i won a game off a single dragon fight where i engaged with my monkey brain miss fortune and we aced them because she was immortal while ulting and while i was stunning them XD the enemies ate a full mf ult in dragon pit with karthus ult on top and they were sent to the shadow realm...it was great.

I'm glad the absolute legend Lightrocket got his spotlight on this channel, I didn't even know he got to high challenger, what a madman Also, as a Taric Jng enjoyer I think Phase Rush is the best learning curve/go to rune page, as it solves most of Taric's problems (mobility and getting in and out of fights). It's also his most used runepage (and Ady's too), really surprised he hadn't recomended that one

The reason you put two points in q is because with two points it charges up to two stacks which are then released so when you do q auto auto q you get double charged q.

I’ve literally never seen a taric jungle loose is any of my games. I’ve probably only seen it in my games 10-15 times but the side with taric jungle has always gotten to an unstoppable point whether I’m on that team or facing it. I was wondering if happychimenoises would ever feature it

While I don't take him n the jg, he has nice synergies with other Champs as well. My friend and I run Taric Pyke bot lane and the lvl1 and 2 fights are so one sided, and it only gets better later in the game.
Now if only Riot would give taric like... +5 base movespeed and animation canceling for passive when his attackspeed is too fast (Lethal tempo is good for Taric top but at a certain point you get animation locked so even though he can hit like 6.0 attackspeed easy his animation to cast a spell interferes with him ever truly becoming on-hit).

He starts on blue every game and has a very spammable q heal + damage so matching him early on is very hard! Plus his q is an area heal so while he fight he can heal his other teammates around him.
I played against a support taric with smite. I was the jng. He killed me and took my entire first clear. I was level 3 at 7 minutes and nearly went afk.
ive been following lightrocket for a while, hes one of the greatest off meta junglers. This pick requires a high lvl of itemization and jungle pathing; im plat and i failed miserably... its such a high learning curve.
As someone who played a at least 10 games of taric ap only jgl no smite in ranked for a bet 2/1.5 years ago taric is insane in early and probably a good way to climb for those who want to try it jgl
I swear to god Taric is the enabler of all champions, he made yi funnel broken, had sona taric and lee sin taric bot lane and I can speak from experience that jungle taric has the weirdest ability to win almost any 1v1 unless he can't hit them, he's so majestic
Yep light rocket is pretty well known so like every high elo player is aware about the taric jg but in low elo you will just get flammed sabotaged and what not
If Taric's ultimate only scales with a lower CD then isn't it possible to only put one point in it at level 6, and then the next one at level 17? I do this on Zoe and Kindred as their ultimate aren't the type to where if it's up then you can and should always use it. Even though kindreds does give a heal which becomes bigger, this heal also heals enemies and if you ever use it to survive a little longer in a close 1v1, then the enemy isn't going to be running away, and them healing would give them more HP as 9/10 champions have higher HP than kindred because of items and such so when at the minimum HP threshold of 10% adding 375 HP would nearly always give the enemy more HP than you so you'll actually be helping them out more than it helps you. So this is why I feel like certain champions like Zoe and kindred can just be happy with putting only one point in R. Didn't tryndamere also do this but riot changed it as they didn't like it?
He's thought about this actually, but considers the cooldown too important. Taric looks to fight very often with his R up, including around objectives. 30 seconds off base CD per level is a lot. The same as Kindred's actually, but hers is strictly worse for teamfighting.
I am not a jungler (also dont play bot lol)but i higly recommend taric with a diver with cc and healy. I Play with a sylas/renekton and it just a fun time in the bot lane
Tried it in ranked after a couple of normal and holy shit it is fucking good. Level 3 after redbuff i beat the crap out of a level 4 udyr just like that...solo killed him and then proceeded to absolutely demolish the enemy team! You never die you deal stuoid high damage you heal teammates and yeah...it's good!
As a Taric jungle enjoyer i prefer put one point on E lv 1 and smite the blue buff at the beginning since he alway at full health and that will be much faster
You mentioned a couple of times how unexpectedly high Taric's damage is, but it isn't. It's his survivability that is crazy IF YOU LET HIM HEAL. Stand around him in melee range, get hit, give his cooldowns back often and Taric with 1000 hp bar will actually have 2000 hp. Everyone will outtrade you with that stamina. If you watch Lightrocket1's games, he is rarely in the top of the damage list, even though he brawls a lot during matches.
What you are really saying: "As someone who plays taric - his damage is not expected if you do x + y + z + watch lightrockets games" That is a lot of stuff for the average player to know considering they will play against Taric jungle probably 1 game per year? You just have more information than the average player, that is all.
Sorry, what I meant is that his survivability is unexpected, on the other hand his dps is not that good. He can make the fight longer, even though his mediocre health bar doesn't look like it. To offset this, for newbies I'd recommend kiting Taric, not letting him auto them; and for new Taric players to find ways to stick onto their opponent, which both you and Lightrocket explain(ed) very well.
instead of anathemas you can also go for fimbulwinter, more mana, more shielding, more staying alive, more healing, plus it works very well with frozen heart too which also gives you additional HP from the fimbul's mana bonus. if you wanna deal more damage, get sunfire instead of frostfire and go for titanic hydra, titanic is way to go for the damage, divine is meh. spirit visage is a mandatory/must item since you get more shielding and healing from it. sterak or knights vow should be 6th item to get, not 5th. another good options as 6th item are zeke's + thornmail + demonic embrace + deaths dance. PTA is good early but grasp is better for the mid to late game especially if you're ahead and get an item advantage grasp works like an absolute charm. I tried taric jungle with mundo adc paired with enchanter support, mid and late game this 3 champion just dominates the game. another good pair is vayne, kennen or lillia top, as for the mid lane best pair should be either katarina, kassadin, kayle, victor or cassio against 3+ AP enemy or 2+ hypercarry/true damage dealer, especially if they have morgana or yi, taric doesnt work so well.
Fimbul is not a good item on taric since you rely solely on landing E to proc it (said by Lightrocket2 himself) and how do you plan to go grasp in jungle anyways, you lose both triump, and legend alacrity/tenacity which are nearly fundamental. Resolve tree isn't that good besides Conditioning (which is nerfed) and Revitalize/Unflinching. And lastly, Visage is extremelly situational. LR2 takes it when he has a soraka and goes divine sunderer but that's it, in any other situation Force of nature is better because of the total damage reduction and the movement speed that taric lacks, if any more MR is needed he goes for a Mikael's that gives resistance, shielding/healing power and an in-built QSS
@@pilotero3898 I disagree, fimbul is extremely good on taric since you CAN land your E easily and proc it, you can literally tank 1-2k more damage with its shield. Resolve tree isnt good early yes, and its really team dependent since you have to constantly invade and gank to proc the grasp, but if you can do it, you can get so but SO much better value than PTA in mid and especially late game, unlike PTA you can proc it again and again and again in fight and you can 1v4 the enemy team (excluding adc) for over a minute or two. if you want to close the tenacity gap, there's sunfire, there's unflinching. And attack speed of alacrity rune indeed CAN be disgarded since your main option is to TANK the damage, triumph also CAN be disgarded for shield bash since you get more armor and MR when shielded plus you deal more "bonk" damage after 1 auto when shielded, it works extremely well on taric. plus if you're picking a taric into the AP heavy enemy team and buying MR items such as force or nature, mikaels, or abyssal mask etc, it makes you a fool, not a player, because taric scales with armor and needs to be played against AD champs. THIS alone is a big fact, and this is exactly why spirit visage is a mandatory item because you need that healing and shielding power TO SURVIVE the attacks of AD champs which you ultimately scale of.

I played this guy when he was still trying out his pick in normal games a while back, i got clapped on Kindred & was astounded by how strong the pick was. Actually cancer.
Playing Taric JGL with a Katarina mid, we sync up and i let her dive under tower, killing 2-3 and going out without any dmg taken (with my ult active). Its so troll. I started playing Taric JGL two weeks ago and i went from B3 to S3. He is a super strong pic and its really fun to 1v2 jgl + mid and they think you are gonna die easy but instead cries since they are placed badly and i stun both and keep on nuking them.
As a jungle Taric lover, I'd like to add: instead of Triumph rune it's better for him to choose Presence of Mind because Q-spam drains mana very quickly and this rune helps him not to run out of mana in the midst of battle.
Minimum 4 points into taric q. Also if you e the attacks are faster. YOu q auto auto w auto auto e auto auto q auto auto for the maximum healing also increasing your team's morale because the heals are massive. Also the Taric buff made Taric's Q to cost 60 mana no matter the lvl also if you have 2 points in q and the stacks are 2 if you lvl up you get a free stack wihouth the need to attack pretty handy.
Taric is a great champion. I used to do Kindred and Taric in bot, we would dive people with ults timing and Kindred would get marks. Should this duo unkillable
if ppl understood his w it would be way more fun, ppl just flap and cry if you lock him in. played him to like 200k in jungle, maybe 10% of ppl reacted to the w and used it
Yeah in high elo it is good, but he and I both think it is bad for non Master+ - as the mobility issues wont matter as much since people are not as good at positioning in most elos. He told me not to recommend it
Singed JG is Another under rated pick, no matter what good early phase he goes crazy into a late game, bad early phase he still goes crazy into late game. It's very difficult to counter him. Either way
