😂 But it’s absolutely true that Human pee will deter animals … I made my husband pee on the fence because rabbits were climbing under it into the garden … LOL ! 😂
My grandfather unleashed wolf spiders in their house to combat other insects. He was just country folk, unintentionally crunchy. I can see him approving this 😂
This actually works (the hair at least). I think the hair has to have more oils though so those end clippings wouldn't work. The most effective thing we've found to keep deer off our fruit trees is the hair from our brushes in small cloth bags hanging in the trees.
I've gotta say though, my parents are divorced but the funniest thing is seeing my dad walk in the house for the weekly dinner with a container of hair clippings. So yes, my mom does the same and since she cuts our hair, that also goes to the garden.
Thats genuinely so nice to hear they dont just get along enough to have dinner together but also for him to do that for her garden 😢 I wish more divorced families were that healthy, makes me happy to hear ❤
Reminds me of when my husband brushes the cat and puts it in a pile for me. Cat fur goes into the cherry tree for the birds to nest with.naturally eggshells get dried to boost calcium thru the spring and summer for the birds during breeding. Such is love!
My nephews take a shortcut through our property (they live next door) and they we legit ask them to feel free to pee in the woods as it helps keep the coyotes away 😂 my dog needs all the help she can get
My gut instinct is to say "Oh Deer!" When i see one while driving to Ward off other deers from hitting my car. Been driving since 2007, only hit one deer. Seems to work 😊.
I’m a bit scrunchy and I had no idea about this until my hubs told me 😂 he’s not crunchy at all😅. It also repels cats from pooping in your garden 😅. And we use beer against slugs.
Marking your territory only works if your smell is associated with something the animals fear. Otherwise they'll know you've claimed the spot. They'll be cautious as they eat your garden. But they won't bother staying away cause they know they aren't gonna get eaten by the think that peed there cause that thing isn't around at that moment.
i just KNOW crunchy dad is absolutely EXHAUSTED from her at this point 😂😂😂😂 on a real note tho these vids r so creative yall are so funny! u seem like very lovely people :)
This is my first crunchy mom video and was veeeery confused 😂 Looked at the comments and saw only good vibes so I checked out the channel and fell in love with the content 💕
My twin used to pee outside the caravan he slept in (our parents moved after we went to university so it became his room which was arguably nicer than my own in the house) it apparently stopped the rats coming into the garden from the farmers field next door
I had the same conversation with my husband about the pee (we had rabbit issues). He wasn't so obliging, though. 🤣 I also collected hair from my brush every morning and tossed it around my plants. It did nothing. What ended up working for us is spraying down the plants with chilli oil! You have to respray anytime it rains or if you water overhead, but the bunnies learned quickly that the plants were spicy and icky and left them alone, so I only really had to do it a few times.
My daddy was a barber, and he would bring home bags of hair sweepings from the floor of his barber shop. He *never* had trouble with deer, rabbits, or any varmints in the garden!
This is true! Im not very crunchy per say, just a small town farm girl. I heard about this and started using the hair from my hairbrush near the squash the deer kept eating the blossoms before they could even start turning into squash and it works! We live along the river out in the country too so lots of deer around us
I taught a science lab class where a group of students tried different deterrents for rabbits. Irish spring soap, cayenne pepper, and the noise deterrents did nothing! The fence didn't work well either since s raccoon brought it down. The predator urine really worked the best! Pee for the win!
I have always found that a 12 gauge or a .303 are the best way to deal with deer. There used to be a bounty on deer here, and people would mow them down with machine guns or net them from helicopters.
I giggled as I recalled a recent convo with my hair dresser. She mentioned how pleased her neighbor would be at the large amount of hair my family had left behind…yep, he asked her for hair cut trimmings. In his case though, it’s to keep rabbits away from his hostas.
We live in an area with coyotes and foxes, within the first month of buying the house my parents peed in a bucket and spread that across the property line (with neighbors permission); never had a problem with canine critters since.
Emily, dog fur works lovely for deterring all sorts of critters, including raccoons. Afyet the scent of gone the birds love it for their nests. If you don't have a suitably hairy dog, then check with a local groomer. They may think you are weird, but they'll be happy to give you dirty dog fur.
