Firstly Boris, you're Russian and not German. So to recontextualise your question "Are the Russians becoming like the British?". Possibly. Both Russia and Britain are waining empires, although let's face it. The British actually had an empire. One that encompassed most of the world and has created the modern world. The Russians "empire"? Not so much. 🤣🤣🤣
You are conflating "involvement with" with "involvement by". The former was not necessary, but the latter was a must, as it is the "leader" of a country who makes such decisions.
They say engagement with, not involvement, also direct, I.e., they didn’t directly engage with Putin, meaning the White House worked through intermediaries in Russia, not directly with Putin. It’s called nuance in language.
@@ottovonbismarck1352, I just watched bits and pieces of the video again, after writing my reply to the OP''s comment, and yes, you are correct in that they did say "no direct engagement with", and not "no direct involvement with"; however, given the fact that the OP thought the word used was "involvement", than the OP's misunderstanding must have derived from he or she conflating "involvement with" with "involvement by".
@@ottovonbismarck1352 True. And "engagement" is an important word in US foreign policy - they call even their military interventions abroad often "engagement"... 😉
One does not see how this was such a difficult decision for the Germans. They have already swallowed worse conditions under Mr Scholtz. Just think back to the promise that was given that the Noord Stream pipeline would be destroyed that he accepted so gracefully. And!, the fact that after the deed was done,, rhey still dutifully accepted that there was no need for investigation, and whatever investigative results came out was not fit for their consumption.
@@AlternativeBrew Kanzler Scholz has to govern in the interests of the german public. And the german public has lost all interest in Norstream. Russia Russia stoped delivering gas throug Nordstrem I to blackmail Germany and Nordstream II never had been used yet. Gazprom is dead.
to peace? Russia just detains individuals that can be leveraged for prison swaps. None of this remotely contributes to peace. Russian is doing this to get some terrible people back.
@@josephwebster2909 friends who listen to each other...I can't remember the last time US did anything for Germany. Remember the NordStreams? Germany begged and begged US not to impose sanctions but it still did and finally bombed it. Germany cannot even publicly state who exploded it. What a shame. How pathetic.
@@alexsnow5092 What makes you think that he was a terrorist? Because Putin said so?? Do you really think Germany would take in a person if Russia could prove he is a terrorist? NO
Does anyone know the health condition of Vladimir Kara-Murza? I have been very worried about him; he is such a good man. I understand that he was going to fly to Germany to meet his family. Has he arrived yet? Was he able to walk on his own strength? Please let me know. I so prayed for his release and his health. Thank you.
@@mugenmugen9632 I am hoping that what he meant was that he would return there once Putin was out. Perhaps, I was hoping that simply I don't want to see anyone hurt again. I hoped that perhaps because he did preface the statement by mentioning the fact that he was a student of history. When I heard that, I thought he was alluding to how history can bring revolution (and therefore he would be safe there once history had turned things around). Hope I'm right. Hope I'm right. I would not want to be his wife or his mother. The West needs a travel ban -- or at least to force each Westerner to sign a form informing what risks are possible in the event of travel to certain countries -- and how no Western country will be able to help in case they get into any kind of trouble.
@@imsroy that doesn't even make sense. why would germany need a base in america? is america in need of german bases due to a security threat from canada or mexico? we need US bases in europe for protection and we are thankful to USA for providing us with security.
@@imsroythere’s zero reason to have s base for a European country in North America. Besides the US, there is zero country in the region that has a military that could possibly do anything to a country like Germany. The USA has 750 bases in at least 80 countries around the world (Source: Al Jazeera, Sept 2021) plus additional 800 bases in the country. Other sources estimate 900 facilities in approx. 100 overseas countries. Those who talk about peace in Ukraine, typically mean giving Putin what he wants without fighting. Yet peace would be instant if Russia left Ukraine. What type of peace did you mean?
stop pretending like you dont know what russias supposed peace means. only regards fall for that lie. putin has been very clear that he will not pullout from ukraine no matter what. he wants a puppet government and to take the east. NO ONE with a sane mind would accept that. that is not peace.

As for the murderer that was released, we say in Hebrew (translated), "If there is no judgment on earth, there will be judgment in heaven." Meaning, if punishment is foregone by judges who were put in their place to adjudicate on earth, the punishment will not be forgone by the Judge in heaven, that is to say, by God himself.

Lmao we traded an arms dealer for a basketball player and now an assassin for our people? Don't get me wrong I'm glad they're free and safe but those 2 shouldn't be out at all.
It's such a balancing act, I agree. I'm glad too they're free and safe. I feel that in the end the responsibility of a nation's government to bring their citizens home outweighs the negatives. What we should be doing is bring the amount of citizens that visit a state like Russia to an absolute minimum.
