I'm Israeli and when I was in the hospital for 2 weeks beacause of the asthma attack it was really good food for free, hospital food, it was couscous soup, a chicken wing and one of those chocolate shots or whatever y'all call them, I was 7 I dunno how I can even remember but Germany does pay for 80% of our hospitals because of WW2 soo that explains how they can afford it...

I work in a hospital kitchen, we prepare and plate 1500 meals fresh every day (no cook and chill). We have 3 different normal menues to choose from (1 normal with meat, 1 lighter with maybe fish or chicken, no fried food, 1 vegetarian), 2 different sugar free option menues with only full grain for diabetics (and everyone else that wants full grain/less calories option) with 1200/1400 or 1600 cal/day (diabetics ofc get whatever amount of bread units they want/need in a day) 1 light and easy digestible version for diabetics/others with 1200/1400 or 1600 cal/day 4 menus for after surgeries or stomach problems (stage 1-4 depending on how much the patient can have), only light and easy digestible items 1 soft menu (only softer stuff, like long cooked meat, mash potato, soft cooked veggies) for old people or people with issues chewing 1 creamy menu for people who can`t swallow good, 1 very creamy/sieved version, 1 only liquid 1 menu for after bariatric surgery 1 salt free menu for dialysis They can have options without: gluten, dairy/lactose, fructose, histamine and ofc any food allergy like egg/nuts/sesame/soy whatever - also vegan is possible. If they want something special we usually prepare it also, for example patients in palliative care who have special wishes, or long term patients want only certain things, we fix it for them. Every menu includes soup, salad, main and dessert. I admit it`s not always the most tasty food, but we need to consider all dietary needs and we always try to do our best, using fresh ingredients, lots of fresh veggies, salads, fresh fruit. We can`t use much oil/butter/fats and can`t fry or bake things but we can use most spices and herbs to make a better taste. (The normal menus is actually pretty tasty though, because that one we can use everything) We make healthy meals and what patients can have in a hospital. We are responsible for what goes into every dish for each patient, if the wrong patient would get the wrong food we could seriously harm them. Everybody in the kitchen who is getting in touch with the food, from the executive chef to the kitchen help must know what they are doing and what they can and can`t use to meet all the dietary requirements and avoid any mistakes. Most people talk bad about hospital food but don`t think at all what goes into it. You are in a hospital not a restaurant. Our workday starts at 6 am with preparing breakfast and goes on until 6 pm when we are done preparing dinner. It`s long days, but it`s also a satisfying work.

I often heard hospital meals are so plain and not much variation, and even I thought they only serve porridge. But a week ago I was hospitalized for a week because of diabetes (I'm still in my 20's, never hit 50kg weight but still got diabetes just in 3 months without activity or work out due to covid19) and I didn't expect the hospital meals were not that bad, and even some of them were so tasty. They also carefully didn't give me tea and dessert with sugar, and did custom meal for diabetes. That was very bitter sweet experience for me. Now my perspective of hospital meals are changed.

I was one of those people. But Jesus healed me. What can i say except for the rest of my life, i will serve Jesus with my heart soul and spirit and money. Alot of people, jostle and wrestle to increase savings or splurge on themselves. But i spend only the very minimal. After Jesus provided me with enough savings to live minimally for the rest of my life, i went to take up a menial but relaxing good pay job so that i can contribute to tv evangelism of Jesus and the needy in my family. Jesus then sent the very best chefs to sell great palace kind of food at dirt cheap price in my neighbourhood to please my palate so that i dont lose out on any luxury. How i love Jesus for loving me even in small things. Life is not a race. Those who treats life as a race, risk going to hospital. The meaning of life is love wisely.

i think in Asia especially on countries like Singapore, South Korea, Japan etc. they have some private-owned hospitals who are quite fancy and have tighter security. Here in Indonesia you can see the difference too between public, government-owned hospitals who are just as mediocre and the other private ones who has big and modern building with a bit better security
@karalee6522
@karalee6522 4 года назад
I’m a nurse who’s worked in various settings. In our urban peds hospital, anyone can come into the lobby, but everyone must go through a metal detector to access the elevators and you need a patient code to enter the floor wards. At our urban adult hospital, you only need to go through security/metal detectors when entering the ER, the rest of the hospital is a free for all. At the smaller suburban hospital I’m at now, all visitors need a visitor badge from security after 8pm and they scan your ID to make a badge, but there’s no metal detectors. I was a fan of working where we had metal detectors...you never know when a crazy with a gun is going to walk in (in the US at least).

When I was doing some clinical work as a cna, the place I was at cooked the same meals for everyone. If the patient couldn’t chew, they had the same food in a purée form. However, before they could cook, the nurses had these meal tickets that had specific food or dietary restrictions which the cooks in the hospital would make.

halal food is for muslims, it doesnt include pork or alcohol
@HewieAlbino
@HewieAlbino 4 года назад
Halal food is for Muslims. They can't eat pork or consume alcohol. Any other meat they consume such as chicken or beef has be Halal certified, meaning they have to be slaughtered in a certain way according to the Islamic religion. It also means that you can't cross contaminate utensils or cooking tools. So a fork used to eat a piece of pork is considered non-halal for example. 15-20% of people living in Singapore are Muslims, so it's pretty common to find Halal food everywhere, and most hospitals and hotels would have designated Halal preparation areas. I guess you can theoretically serve non-Halal food to a Muslim and hope they don't notice so long as you're not directly serving pork or alcohol to them, but it's a manner of respecting the religion that places have Halal-only food prep areas.
