Unfortunately, it has become clear with the trailers for Suicide Squad that the studio today is far different from the masterpiece-maker that was 2015 Rocksteady. With the departure of the studio founders, it will never be good again, and we will never again see a game on par with Arkham Knight.

It’s kind of why I don’t give so much credit to insomniacs spider man’s game because it sort of feels like the Arkham series

no that's Batman in the nutshell they call your head. out of all the heroes that go out and fight crime or risk their lives against mutants, demons, robots, and celestials, people only tend to wanna diminish Batman's work. you people are weird

Yeah he is but in my opinion his childhood trauma is feeling separated from his parents and in my mind his parents were so selfless and giving that he figured the best way to keep them close was to act like they would and help people the best he could. That’s why I think the angsty and violent Batman people seem to love misses the entire point. He can be like that but only because Gotham is supposed to be a literal hell on earth and that’s how he’s supposed to not only survive but fight back. At his core though he wants what’s best for everyone in the city, including criminals. The DCAU got it perfectly right and any other iteration that doesn’t honor that is invalid in my opinion. Batman isn’t cool because of the smarts and gadgets and all, but because of his selflessness and discipline to put everyone else before him almost to the point of detriment to him. And the saddest part of all, like you said, is the only thing motivating him to do this is his insane love for his parents. Almost borderline obsessive to make him travel the world and crush his body and mind just to keep a promise he made as an emotionally overcharged kid. Gotham benefits from it but Bruce himself gets worn thinner and thinner and he wouldn’t even change it. Batman to me isn’t the guy who breaks bones and brands people and listens to nirvana in the rain to be moody and edgy, Batman is the guy who holds Ace’s hand even as she’s inflicting citywide damage because he doesn’t want her to feel alone as she’s dying or the guy who would buy Harley a dress she wanted and couldn’t get because of a misunderstanding just because he knows what it’s like to “have a bad day”, despite all the grief she’s given him.

Some people werent fans of the Batmobile sections (I enjoyed them) but genuinely would say Arkham Knight is my favourite of the 3 Arkham games man, recommend you play it!

@@Simonskilamb Agreed on everything you said. AK is a slightly flawed masterpiece, much the same way Dark Souls is, but the great far outweighs any negative aspects (ie certain key disappointing boss battles). And hey, at least Batman doesn't have to slog through Lost Izalith. lol
