Dear Dino, over the last few days I have watched all your videos with DR 650 reference. Your videos are really well done. They are very helpful and entertaining as well. I'm sure you have a lot of work to do with filming and editing. Today I wanted to thank you for your great videos. So, thank you very much!

Useful video Dino. I think most motorcyclists will find this series very useful. I agree with you that a shop man is a "must have" as the important values and connections are detailed. I look forward to the series.

Feel like cristmas when you tell me you will release a 5 part series! Perfect timing. Not happy that I just bought a techo because of you tho. Always wondered how people could tell me the RPM of there DR on the forums. Can't thank you enough and keep up the good work. Going to my garage now to tinker with my own DR thanks to you Dino. My closet friend who was the only person I could ask for advice with my motorcycle died at the age of 51 last week and now your videos is the only thing I have to help me with my own DR that I'm learning to fix and service for my RTW trip!

I am so sorry to hear about your friend, it is never easy to lose family or friends especially when they are so young. I'm happy I can help in some way, I am excited to hear you are planning a rtw trip, sounds like a great way to honor a close friend who passed too soon. Dino

Thanks so much for doing these Dino. You’re helping the next generation immensely! I just changed the starter using your video, and am watching this series to hopefully finally get insight into how vehicle electrical systems work. You are a great presenter and I really appreciate your work! Thank you!!

FIRST!! Good vid. You covered some really good stuff and it shows you've done your home work. Just gonna add one small point. Continuity testers will only work when there is less then a certain amount of resistance. Some Fluke multi-meters will not show continuity if there is more than 400 ohms of resistance in the circuit. So in some cases, you may want to double check your results with a resistance reading if you're not seeing 'continuity'. We were also taught to check the leads before and after each reading by shorting them together and verifying continuity. Cheers from Sussex NB!

I am going to start an auxillary light project on my GSX-S1000 in the very new future. I bought a wiring harness and so the routing of the wires will likely be the most difficult part of the project. I need to pick up the service manual. Thanks for the video!

Thank God bikes still use good old, direct control wiring. No modules, no signal control circuits. Then again, when my Bronco lost its ambient temp sensor last winter, the OBD system actually told the tech to look at one of the specific connectors for the fault. I dunno if that kinda build in diagnostics is worth the added complication.

Lol, ya the DR has more in common with a lawn tractor than a modern car or truck. However it will not haul nearly as much as your bad mule would.

Using a auto resetting fuse and hooking it up with a wire on each leg of it with a clip on it ..allows you to check circuit that are blowing fuses without wasting fuses..but buy different amp resetting fuses for your electrical test equipment

@@DinosTinkerShed Maybe you're not a full-blown mechanic, but still quite mechanically knowledgeable and capable. I think you also have given a lot of thought as to how to explain and how much to include so the average interested person can be more confident.

@DinosTinkerShed

@michaelmaurer1226 ah sorry yes, they do and can be a pain as they do get loose over time. My understanding is the DESS system "key" is paired with the MPEM computer that controls the engine. If the key is not snapped on the DESS stud the sled may start but will not take throttle and therefore can not move. I am not 100% sure but I belive the skidoo dealer can provide a replacement DESS key cap and program it to your sleds MPEM computer but would require you to bring the sled to them. I hope this helps. Dino
