Here Nouman Ali Khan explains about Surah Al-Hadid (The Iron), specifically verses 12-15, along with their explanation:
*Quran 57:12-15 (Sahih International Translation):*
12. On the Day you see the believing men and believing women, their light proceeding before them and on their right, [it will be said], "Your good tidings today are [of] gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein you will abide eternally." That is what is the great attainment.
13. On the [same] Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, "Wait for us that we may acquire some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you and seek light." And a wall will be placed between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment.
14. They [i.e., the hypocrites] will call to them [i.e., the believers], "Were we not with you?" They will say, "Yes, but you afflicted yourselves and awaited [misfortune for us] and doubted, and [wishful] thinking deluded you until there came the command of Allah. And the Deceiver [i.e., Satan] deceived you concerning Allah.
15. So today no ransom will be taken from you or from those who disbelieved. Your refuge is the Fire. It is most worthy of you, and wretched is the destination.
*Explanation:*
- *Verse 12:* This verse describes the Day of Judgment when believing men and women will have light shining before them and on their right, symbolizing their faith and good deeds. They will be given the glad tidings of eternal gardens with flowing rivers, signifying the ultimate success and eternal bliss in Paradise.
- *Verse 13:* On that day, hypocrite men and women will seek to benefit from the believers' light, indicating their desire to share in the rewards. However, they will be told to go back and find their own light, symbolizing their inability to share in the believers' rewards due to their insincere faith. A wall will be erected between them, with mercy on the believers' side and torment on the hypocrites' side.
- *Verse 14:* The hypocrites will remind the believers that they were once with them, implying they outwardly participated in the Muslim community. The believers will acknowledge this but will point out that the hypocrites succumbed to self-inflicted harm, doubt, and delusion by false hopes and desires until God's decree came. The deceiver, Satan, misled them about God.
- *Verse 15:* This verse declares that no ransom or compensation will be accepted from the hypocrites or disbelievers on that day. Their final abode will be the Fire, which is a fitting and miserable destination for them.
In summary, these verses emphasize the distinction between true believers and hypocrites on the Day of Judgment. Believers will be rewarded with eternal bliss, while hypocrites and disbelievers will face eternal punishment, with no possibility of escape or redemption.
