I used to work at an O'reillys back in the day (right before fast&furious came out) and we had a dedicated section for rice bullshit. Even stupid grills, spinning plastic hubcaps, exhaust tips, lights, everything.
@Dawend Me too. I always go to auto zone now, honestly. I can actually get some help in there usually, it's like an empty store in O reillys where Im at. I think it just depends on your region which is better.

But yes, making your car look like it has twice the hp under the hood (or at least trying to) is making you a ricer, a not so fast car can look great with nice rims, a little bit lower and maybe a new exhaust with a better but not too loud sound. But those minor add ons like the ones in the video are always ricer mods, doesn't matter on which car they are applied

Ricers- Coming from the Latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt. A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to): - Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder - Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747 - Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool - Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself - Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire - Clear tail lights and corner signals - A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine) - Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case. The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.

Nicky One more thing sorry. The performance intake you describe sounds a lot like possibly a Short Ram Intake and those often come with heat shields or can be installed with one later while also have some small benefits over a Ram or CAI but with obviously some trade offs. Having personal experience with one the difference is night and day from the factory airbox, and while the heated air inside the engine is not as good as the cooler air outside it is still better than the airbox in my experience. K1 Depends how you use them. Remember, RICE=Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement. Exhaust mods like fart cans are rice, non-functional louvres are rice. Imo, any exhaust mod that doesn’t impact performance or doesn’t make you hear the engine sound more directly is rice. What OP described falls under that category of rice.
ArmadilloLover99 how is a louver rice? They do cool down the cabin especially on cars like the corvette c7. It would be rice if you put it on a car that doesn’t have a rear window like the c7. For example putting it on a BRZ is rice. Putting it on a camaro is not.
