How a rooster uses spurs in slow motion.

After my rooster attacked me twice I wanted to see how he did was so effective using his spurs. So I put on some safety gear and recorded him in 4K 4X slow motion to be able to capture what was invisible to the naked eye. It is quite remarkable how quick he is.

This sort of thing makes a lot more sense when you realize that a pet rooster is literally a pet dinosaur.

@@sculptureforasmallplanet yes that was real Cool indeed.. with such great Camera viewing Ideas like if I had a Rooster for a Pet then I will use a Small Camera somehow on the Ground without kneeing down of observing the Roosters instead of standing up.. How Roosters legs are backwards.. well I would like have a footage of a Rooster walking from the Side view then reverse in Video if it were Human Walking Style is Bent with the Lower leg behind raise up as you lift the Knee up bringing your Leg in Straighter to the front and instead of Landing on the Heel to Toe a Rooster lands the Ball of Foot instead just for experiment at practicing that. Also a Rooster would Fight in Martial Arts Human form would be in fighting tactics a combination of Back Kicks types categories in each Martial Arts. Especially with the Roosters legs are sort of like Human Arm for example the Irish Fighting Stance in Boxing. And other Cool Ideas of portraying the Rooster where it Attributes to Humans in character as of Crowing prolonging Lamentation, such as instead of Songbird means Female Singer being a Rooster be a Song-fowl or Gallus that involves Crowing of Male Singer. In my Surname and other Last Names in Coat of Arms of the Crest that inheritance a Rooster in anthropomorphism Human form.

Our Polish rooster is aggressive. He and I do have an understanding of each other, and he tries his best to behave himself, but sometimes his urges are too much for him to resist. I know his tells, so I'm usually able to dissuade him from his urge to fly at me. I take my time, move slowly, and talk to him while I do my chores. Fast movements are a trigger for him, especially if I catch him off guard. Because he's a Polish, his crest feathers limit his peripheral vision, so he's easier to startle. As much as he's a pain in the butt, I have a soft spot for him. He's an excellent rooster, and at the end of the day, he's just doing his job. We've learned to be in each other's space without too many incidents. He'll still get me every now and then, but no major injuries other than a few bruises lol

That was really cool. I appreciate you taking the time to make this. You can look at a rooster spur and see, yeah, that doesn't look like something you want flying at you... but it also looks too awkwardly placed to be a real threat. At full speed it looks like a random blur, but you can see with the slowdown that the rooster is actually very precise and intentional. Thanks for braving that for the upload!

Awesome footage. Always wondered how they made use of them. Always looked so unwieldy until I saw it in slow motion. I feel bad for all of these folks who have had bad rooster experiences. I have raised hundreds of birds of many different breeds and keep a handful of roosters in the flock at all times. Never once have I had a rooster be aggressive towards me or any other humans. They mostly just duke it out with each other to establish their hierarchy which gets sorted out rather quickly.

Dear Greg, our rooster got tendencies to be aggressive and at first I didn´t know what to do - but I realized that a five pound bird is not a real threat to a 200 pound person, but it IS a very unacceptable behaviour from a "pet" that are going to live in so close proximity to us. There are many videos, and you are mentioning it in the video that there is a way to hold the rooster down on the ground and then with a two-finger v-shape hold his head (gently) down to the ground. That worked absolutely perfect for our rooster, and he went from being an ingredient for a stew to being almost as friendly as the hens. I am sooo happy that I didn´t removed him from the flock, because, just as in your case - he is doing a really good job with protecting the flock and other rooster tasks :).

Just FYI for slow mo you need to not worry about 4k, but rather the FPS. The higher the resolution, the lower options of FPS (frames per second). So 1080P should get you over 200FPS instead of 30. Heck even 720P for even higher FPS! Either way, thanks for sharing this!
