By far the best and most detailed explanation on how a scope works that I've seen. I especially like that you've explained focus and exit pupil. Two area's where others miss or don't understand completely. Thank you!

This video deserves way more upvotes! Truely interesting!

So when in doubt, if making a precision shot, you could “over dial” and then dial back down to true adjustment for highest probability of true adjustment tracking? Neat convo about spring memory.

Francis Colon recommended this video on Miles to Matches podcast and probably one of the best recommendations from that show. Thank you for the education.

He's "mostly" right when it comes to optical zero after you've zeroed in your rifle. He just needed to go one step further. If you check your double image crosshairs and find that the two crosshairs have a lot of separation yet you can still see both it will still indicate a problem. The further apart they are the more it indicates a problem in another part of your system. On a perfect rifle setup the two crosshair images should still be VERY VERY close especially with respect to windage after you've zeroed your rifle. I built a rifle last year and I did the mirror test on the scope after zeroing at 100 yards. I found that only the elevation had changed and the windage part was still perfectly aligned. I knew the barrel/action/mounts/rings were all in perfect alignment. That doesn't happen always, but it's awesome when it does. :)

I actually switched all my precision rifle scopes over to the mk5 because Leupold does, in fact, pack more high density magic into each tube than the competitors

One of you best, thanks. Did he say how over torquing the tube affects the performance.

This was absolutely great. So much good info. I almost always have a headache on the way home from a long day shooting. I can't wait to adjust my diopter and see if that mitigates the headaches.

Solid work! I had to pause the video and do the mirror trick.

Outstanding video! Not only does this help me understand my scope for long range competition shooting, but it also helps me to explain a lot of these items to customers at the gun range/store I work at.

Super explanation on scopes. The parallax explanation was excellent. I will be watching this interview again. I have one Leupold and it is so much nicer than my other brand scopes.

Wow! This was fantastic video. It validates everything I teach on optics on a 2 day precision rifle course I run. The only thing I didn’t know, was the optical zero. I definitely have to give that a try. As a former infantry sniper I had to chuckle at some ‘Bucks’ mannerisms and use of terminology which took me straight back to the course I did at the Australian Army School of Infantry all those years ago. I’ll have to watch it again just to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

An image, labeled, with definitions of terms would make this easier to follow...

This video was excellent. Thank you for sharing. This plus some of the explanation videos from Dark Lord of Optics have really improved my understanding of scopes and what I need out of them.

I liked his Joe Dirt analogy, but the Buick is referenced from My Cousin Vinny and in Joe dirt he was speaking about a Plymouth.

Very Educational.... I would like to know and understand why the sun will effect the zero at different times of the day, depending on where the sun is? The variation seems to be limited to around 1.25 MOA

Hello my friend. I follow you from Turkey with love and look forward to each of your videos. I shoot at short distances, although not as much as you guys, unfortunately I don't have a product to record it. Inflation and exchange rate difference in our country prevent me from supplying the product. Can you gift me triggercam 2.1? Thank you from now
