I am an American living in Dominica. You must live in Dominica to truly appreciate the Dominican people. You don't really know them until you live here. They are the most honest hard-working people you ever met. 😆😆😆
@@serious_nigga yes man people still don’t get this … apart from Saint Lucian that don’t welcome tourist with hypocrisy most of the Caribbean countries/lesser Antilles do. If you’re from America, Canada, UK or somewhere else in the Schengen area you’re always well welcomed. But Africa, Jamaica, Haiti or even Dominican Republic is another reality.
As a Resident of Roseau Dominica 🇩🇲 I’m glad that you enjoyed the experience and were open minded to the island and all it had to offer over your short time here 👏🏽
Do you know what the word Stockholm syndrome means sister they brought to the island in cargo slave ships like sardines her ancestors and stole the island from the kalinago and and named it Sunday in Latin are we Latin or Romans sister.
I recently spent a week in Dominica. Stayed at the Wanderlust Hotel (extremely small but with all the amenities) in Calibishi. Each day, we went on many adventures all over Dominica: hiking, snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, and more. Our excursions took us to several rain forests, woodlands, coastal hikes, and even a small, uninhabited island. Our incredible hosts shared much of the history of Dominica. Being in the small town of Calibishi, I had several opportunities to interact with the extremely friendly and welcoming residents.
Bro how it’s your island the island was called tall is her body the Romans stole it and named it Sunday Latin for Dominica do you have Stockholm syndrome my brother.
We're doing the same cruise at the end of January. Like you, I didn't think much about Dominica - didn't really care. After watching this video, I am super excited about that port! Thank you so much for showing us your enlightening experience!
I am a local living in Dominica and I just want to thank you for this video.. thank you for informing people about your trip here and im happy that it made a change in your life.. hope you will be back..
Thank you for your genuine outlook on our country. It’s amazing to hear people say such good things about our little island world down here and it brings me joy to be able to share it with others. Definitely come back again!🇩🇲🇩🇲
I have totally enjoyed your video and your honesty. I just love it. . When i went to the Dominican Republic my behavior was like that too, like i thought that i was better than them. When i started getting to know the people i realized how they life and love fearlessly. I realized the life i was living here in the states was unreal, fabricated, pretentious and emply. What those Dominicans had was extactly want i didn't have and wanted. I was forever changed. The 2nd day i was there i made friends which i still have to this day and that was in 2009. The people in Dominica are living a real and beautiful life, the way we should all live. As the saying goes, less is more. I really thing that this is the island i will be moving to hopefully very soon. Thanks for the video.
I appreciate that you really gave the island a chance and saw how truly amazing it really is! Great video! Also very happy you picked up on the use of natural resources!
I love seeing people travel to my home country 🇩🇲 moving to the usa as a child and growing up here, a lot of people def are conditioned to believe life is better in the us. But when u experience dominica, it has so much more to offer. Culture, clean food, air and water, nature, and lots of good energy. Glad you’re experience was a good one
Unfortunately world geography is not emphasized in American high-schools; but once Americans leave their bubble & venture to the Caribbean, Europe, South America & exceterA; your world view indeed changes. You realize there’s so much beauty in many many parts of the 🌎!!! Happy Travels; I am always looking to go somewhere 😃
I visited Dominica eight years ago on a cruise, did an island tour went into the hills and met the locals. This was one of the island I enjoyed very green with lots of nature. I even went to their hot spring.
It’s makes me so happy hear you recall your experience on my home island. Dominica is the Caribbean’s best kept secret. The swim up to the waterfall in Titou Gorge is one of my favorite places as well. I have a ton of exploring Dominica videos on my channel I think you’ll enjoy.
My wife and I are an international couple looking to live outside of the US again. She is from Kenya and it's too far to be away from where we currently live for the occasional visits (although we would totally live in Rwanda or Kenya). Costa Rica seems to have it's own problems, and I met someone who is living in Dominica. I would love to know more about how someone who wants to live off the land regeneratively and in harmony with nature and local people would be received as a permanent resident of the island
@@TheVigilantStewards I am actually not currently living in Dominica. I was born and raised there and it will always be my home. With that being said Dominicans are very welcoming and I know a few people who made Dominica their forever home and live how you described. And they love it
As a Dominican and an American I appreciate that you gave the island a chance. Your video was very honest and I am glad you enjoyed it here. It really is a wonderful place to visit and live.
Hi! Dominica has been on my list for some time! Definitely overlooked! You were able to do all this in one day!? What time did you start? I'm booked for next February
I felt every word you spoke of while being in my lovely island Dominica and I saw the sincerity coming out right through your heart which makes me listen and watch you from start to finish and I'm feeling good.
So bring your parents, your sons and daughters, for a vacation in Dominica, and we'll assure when you return home, you'll say oh yes sir, that's a happy land. From one of our local songs. Glad you enjoyed our little piece of paradise.
Thank you for sharing such an insightful account of the island of Dominica. I have always shared your view of the islands and I am so pleased to have come across your review. Thank you for sharing. It is only a matter of time before the eyes of many others are open and the see Dominica for the paradise that it is.
Hi,i'm from Dominican but lives in Canada i love my Country to the max,i just want to thank you for your beautiful comments and remarks about my Country which moved me a bit, hearing or telling the world about your experience on my country,,thank you so much..one Love..Blessings to you.

As a Dominican 🇩🇲 thanks very much for experiencing and sharing this amazing video of this blessed Nature Island 🏝. We appreciate your love, and thanks again for educating people out here about Dominica 🇩🇲 we are friendly, happy and appreciative of this Beautiful Island Dominica 🇩🇲
Is there much room for international expatriates who want to come live in harmony with nature and be of a regenerative benefit to the land and neighbors as well?
How are we blessed when our gdp is 7,560 a year u.s.d all our medical equipment is being tributaried/exported to the United States and all their nurses come to Sunday/Dominica for high education and they call us the N word behind close doors
I was born on this gorgeous island and migrated to the USVI in the last 3 or 4 years. Thanks for sharing your experience, I really appreciate that you gave Dominica a chance and was touched by the good things you said on my island. I giggled when you talked about the reactions of the passengers in the bus. *chuckles* that's how I feel when the bus drivers drive fast. However Dominican bus drivers are really good drivers, some of the best in the Caribbean, they really know the roads like the back of their hands, lol. Thanks for sharing this video with us and thanks for visiting, do return after the COVID, I plan on going back, to visit then later stay in Dominica for good. By the way, I always promote my island, because my heart belongs to this beautiful nation.😄👌💝❤
@@yawasap5110 yes. However I encourage them to visit my island, when they found out about it. And most of them did visit and enjoyed. I'm really proud to be from here.
I recognize you. Your native village starts with L. your elementary school was 1 mile away north. I'm in Cali but recognize you lol. Your maternal last name is M.
as a Dominican 🇩🇲 myself, i really enjoyed watching this video and wanted to say thank you for sharing your experience and views of my island with the rest of the world! i second the wacky rollers recommendation as well! they’ve been doing this for a very long time and i know a couple members personally! i hope your experience the next time you visit is even better than the last! ✨
Why are you calling yourself SUNDAY are you a Roman Latin speaking person, your island? our prime minister don’t even run the island.why are we using the Queen’s money? Matthew 22 19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. 20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? 21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's
Wow such a nice video! Yes we are going on a cruise in November 2024 and Dominica is one of the stops which is the reason why I’m looking through videos. Out of all the things you did on the tour which two were the highlights? I’m assuming the swim and falls? I’d like to do an excursion but can’t do 8 hours. Wacky Rollers also had an excursion of tubing down rapids which also looked liked a lot of fun.
Great video. And youuuu are freakn AMAZING!!!! I am thinking that I want to start sharing more of my travel adventures. And although I have watched a gazillion other RU-vid travel videos for insight and inspiration, your passion and presentation in this video becomes the prototype. Thank you. And safe travels.
This is such an awesome video. Thank you for enlightening me on thus island which I call MINE. I love my country and I am happy you had a wonderful experience.
I had a similar experience on my first trip to Costa Rica in 2010. I travelled most of the country solo on a 250 cc Honda motorcycle solo. I hardly knew any spanish but the people were amazing. What an eye opening experience that changed my views forever.
We owned a home above Castle Comfort for more than a dozen years. We had to rebuild after Maria. The path to Emerald Pool has been upgraded since our last day trip. So sad that the old Champagne site literally got blown away, we would go there nearly every day. The last time the new site was just being developed. But also glad to see it still thriving in a new way. Also glad to see Dominica recovering, the green is back. I miss the tree frogs!
I'm happy that you could see the beauty of the lush nature island with its resilient, refreshing and uplifting people. I was born in Switzerland and Dominica became my home during 20 years where my children grew up and I'm always returning. Working in the Tourism industry, I made it my goal to let visitors see what you did :) Thanks for sharing this video
Just to point out Trafalga Falls is nowhere near the highest peak on Dominica. It’s the top of Mount Diablotins which is 4,747 feet. At that elevation the forest is elfin woodland not rainforest since it’s too cool for rainforest. There is so much to do on Dominica that one misses out by cramming as much as one can do in one day. Things such as Boiling Lake which is as it’s name says a lake that is boiling. There is only one other lake like this found on the entire planet and that is in Nee Zealand. It’s about an 8 hour hike to the lake that takes you through rainforests then an area called The Valley of desolation because volcanic activity has made the normal emerald landscape barren with sulphuric pools dotting the landscape so it kind of look like you are on an alien planet. We have lots of natural hot sulphur pools whose temperatures make it more ideal for you to bathe in. The Kalinago reserve which is also known as the Carib reserve where one can see first hand the culture and people of one of the first inhabitants of the Caribbean islands as Dominica and St Vincent are the only islands to still have large populations of the indigenous people living in the Caribbean. While the other volcanic islands in the Caribbean have only one volcano, Dominica has nine. None of them has erupted from as way back to the arrival of Columbus. We are also known as the best place in the Caribbean for whale watching with a 90 percent success rate as we have year round pods of sperm whales. I can go on and not even get to talk about the people and culture of this fascinating island
I’m just leaving this gorgeous island today… This is how I imagine the Garden of Eden.. Just beautiful and untouched my man.. Just mind blowing and breathtaking..❤️
I enjoy watching videos. By the way, for those of you who live there or from there, what do you think is the best business idea that someone should start in Dominica? As an Entrepreneur, I would love to invest in Domica but l am not sure what service or product is in need down there? Also, is it easy to ship products into the Dominica from USA? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
Thank you for this. I hope others have the same experience as you. Arrogant people with bad attitudes and their vocal complaining can really sour a trip and it’s the main reason we don’t book cruises or resorts. We’re planning a weekend in Dominica next year! I want to go to the Boiling lake!!!!
What have you and our people learn traveling in cargo slave ship 2 to 3 months crossing the Atlantic Ocean? and what did we learn working with chains in our necks working for her ancestors for free in our travels experiences?
The subtext here is race. Most white Americans are socialised into a way of thinking about Black people - especially Black Americans - that positions them as superior and Blacks as inferior. Many white people are happy to go along with that and act accordingly. Others may be indifferent and others challenge it. One way to challenge it is to live amongst those you have been led to feel superior to. The book ‘Black Like Me’ exposed this graphically where a white man ‘blacked up’ and lived with black people and as a result he was a changed man. I salute this video as the lady is honest about her old beliefs and how she felt ashamed thinking them. Well done CTC. I hope you gain a lot more clients as a result of your honest heartfelt reviews.
Good for you - just think how many people breeze thru the Caribbean thinking they’re better, smarter, richer - whatever; looking down their noses at the “poor” natives who’re there as a backdrop. We’re people we’re also pretty smart and not just wildings like in Game of Thrones. Ain’t that something 😳 Wild concept eh!
I lived on the Nature Isle for 16 years. Actually, I would still be there if Hurricane Maria hadn’t destroyed my home and my rental cottages. I was in Belles at Zen Gardens, the heart ❤️ of the island. It truly is a magical place.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am a first generation American of Dominican natives. I think many people have a view of island life, that’s less than optimal. However to actually experience it, you could could really discover the true beauty of the island and a better understanding of our way of life and culture, that makes this destination a memorable experience for visitors! #bestkeptecretyoujustheardof #bestwhalewatching
How can you be an American or Dominican at the same time? Do you even know where the word America comes from or the word Dominica comes from? So u are half an island and half a continent it’s 2022 don’t be ignorant
I laughed out loud beginning @2:21 of your video! I can only imagine the people reactions to driving on the streets of my island of Dominica 🇩🇲. I'm from Dominica 🇩🇲 living in California. Even I get scared when I used to ride the busses on our streets. But our island drivers they know how to maneuver this mountainous island streets. Okay I will continue listen.😀😃😄😁
I truly enjoyed seeing you video. I just visited fully after so many years. I went on a cruise years ago does nothing. We Americans can be very closed minded because bigger is better. I learned simplicity and natures beauty is essential. I met my family and now look forward to hopefully buying a home there in the near future.
I used to live on Dominica. I left. It was terrible to earn a living there. Great for a visit as a tourist as I have done several times but on each visit I have not seen anything that makes me want to change my mind and return there as a resident. Only as a tourist.
I hope Dominica can resist the tide of popularity in expect to sweep over this beautiful place. As the word gets out about Dominica because of whale watching, natural beauty, and the wonderful people. 60 recently had a feature on their sperm whale preserve. Cruise ships are increasingly docking with thousands of guests. I know the Dominican people need to use all their resources to enhance the island’s standard of living. But after our very short cruise stop, I want to go back for a longer stay. I really want to explore this beautiful place. At the same time, I don’t want Dominica to change from the hidden gem that it is. It’s tourists like me whose first thought is generally of their comfort and convenience that are a curse and an asset. I hope it can somehow minimize the former and maximize the later. I can only hope.
I’m happy to see that you were able to look past your original opinion. A lot of the houses may look shabby to American standards however that is because more value is placed on the environmental impact. And of course just like any countries there are bigger houses and smaller houses. And yes the roads are a little nuts my grandfather describes it as if someone put a snake down on the map and let the snake make the roads
I was there for 2 weeks da issa very beautiful natural island... I jus went to scotts head & trafalgar fall ... It was around carnival time we had a river limd in concorde the river is nice v/clear water... Ill be bk next year pg
I am from the UK like your podcast would you live there if its that great and would would you suggest that would make the island even more attractive to visitors
I am a 64year Dominican. You have not seen half of the breathtaking beauty of Dominica because since this Government came into office a lot has changed. Growing up I remember when the tourist would drive into the heart of the Island and enjoy harvest the fruit they choose to eat but now some of those farms are inaccessible. One Irish tourist said to a few Australian tourist "" yes it is beautiful but it is a beautiful f**ked up country "" This is what the country has become under the current Prima Minister. A beautiful fu*ked up country. . Remembering back in the 90ties when the smallest of farmers would earn any average of $2000 / month and seeing the very farmers have to depend on a corrupt social program and may get a $300 hand out from the Prime Minister.
Born in England got Dominican parents I have just got back from Dominica 3 days ago I have Been to Dominica lots of times it is extremely amazing country to visit the people all so relaxed the fresh food you just can’t beat it
It’s almost like you barely wanted to consistently keep saying something nice so you keep using this weird sarcasm. You enjoyed the view BUT you were like ahh I’m tired so it wasn’t ….” Or you’d say there was the river with a really dark hole and the tour guide says jump in this cold water. For every nice thing you said there was a BUT and a very put offy compliment after. This wasn’t the best review.
