How A RU-vid Video ENDED An NBA Career.. Rebound Social Media: Twitter: / reboundcentral Instagram: / rebound_central Instrumentals By: LCS: / @lcsprod Yondo Beats: / jethalebeats Epidemic Sounds: www.epidemicsound.com/
Watching this, I remember Josh Howard, it makes me realize how far we have come as a country… Weed, speeding, celebrating yourself, star spangled banner. He was 15 years too early
@@ReeceMOS yeah it was mainly his play after injuries. Speeding ticket was never that big of a deal & weed was frowned upon but getting caught 1 time lol
Josh Howard's from my hometown. He went to HS and played ball with my homie's brother and was best friends with one of my neighbors. Never met him but he gives back to the community and kids all the time. Much Respect 💪🏿💯
You know what’s crazy? ESPN, the media, and the NBA would treat that viral video completely different had it happened in 2021. Probably wouldn’t even be traded
Completely different take today. Would have been praised by some even but there would be little to no backlash today. Makes you think of the other hundreds possibly thousands of possible nba players that didn’t get their opportunity with the league because of something outside of basketball. Completely different league today in that regard.
He got a speeding ticket, spoke about liking marijuana and kneeling during the Pledge of Allegiance,,, he was ahead of his time...Just think around the same time J.Epstein was walking around carefree and lawless.
@@acenofrontz3435 Kneeling during the pledge of allegiance? No, he just said he don't celebrate the Star Spangled Banner. Lol two totally different things. If you kneel during the anthem, you're still partaking in the anthem. Howard showed no respect at all towards the SSB.
I like how this story of his ended in a positive way! He actually started to reflect on his mistakes and tries to teach other people what could be done to prevent them. Good for him.
The story telling made it seem like it was sad. My man stayed true to himself and it costed him some things but when he got a 2nd chance to humble himself he took it and thrived sounds more like a success story of a boy growing into a man
Young kid from the streets of NC made some bad decisions as a kid in high school , made it out, balled out in the league , stayed true to his beliefs years before athletes started kneeling and denouncing systemic oppression that naked eye can’t see, naked eye such as the one of the narrator. Not to excuse or explain his decision making process but yes, he drove fast, smoked weed, took care of his family and community, threw a bday party in the middle of the playoffs, yes he went from the nba to a small school coach, made money, probably lost it too, can’t take it to the grave anyway, but he’s doing well coaching doing what he loves, you live and you learn, this video is not as sad as the narrator wants you to believe, because he doesn’t understand, some things simply go over his head, simple as that, you can’t know what you don’t, but you can educate yourself and practice empathy then maybe you can have a sense of what these young men go through. Who and what truly define success: society ? The narrator ? Well It’s his story and a success story if you ask me no matter how you slice it.
Imagine how good he would have been if he made smart decision, he settled for less because he is selfish! It wasn't the speeding ticket, it was a microcosm of his decision making, if he would of been hurt it would have devalued the team, he's undependable
Man all I get from this story is that he lived out his dreams and he played in the NBA and did it on his own terms…smoked weed and was public about it…partied hard w the groupies….Drive exotic sports cars to the limit….the American dream lol
The narrator never had to sound so smug about a man making mistakes. What he did wasn’t even that egregious if you ask me, smh he was a few years ahead of kap. That was his only problem
To anybody wondering, he is now living the good life as a head coach with the millions he earned as an NBA player. He was dumb on mainstream media, but he was not dumb with his money. Only thing he regrets was not winning an NBA championship which 1 of 30 retired NBA players regret.
@@feleciaclemons5074 to my knowledge, he hasn’t officially announced it, but come on, he’s at least bisexual and has never been ostracized because of it.
JoT Blm stole 50 million dollars of donations from black people and bought mansions in SoCal with the money. BLM is playing people big time. They don’t care about you.
Josh Howard was one of my favorite players when I was growing up its unfortunate the way he was treated when this doesnt even really garner news coverage in sports media today.
Different times. You can't apply the social climate of today to the past. Can you apply the social climate of the future to the present day? How about WWII? Should we have treated Germany than like we are ally's now? He acted stupid. Glad he learned from it though because not learning from your mistake is even worse.
One of my favorite players from back in the day. He was awesome on the Mavs with Dirk. He made a lot of stupid choices, and was seen as immature, but he could flat out ball before the injuries took their toll. He’s still underrated to this day! Even in the supremely deep 2003 draft, he should’ve been a top 10-15 pick.
This vid is a bit far reaching. Even with all of these perceived negative headlines, Howard still went on to average 14.5 ppg with Washington. Not great, but not necessarily a sign of the "end of his career." Also to mention is that his ppg and shooting percentage were up from the year before with Dallas. What ACTUALLY led to his downfall was an ACL injury where he was out for 8 months. He was never the same after this injury. He did not magically go from 20 ppg to 6 ppg in 1 year.
@@AquarianAngel A headcase? Sounds to me like like he knew who he was and stayed true to himself. Aside from the speeding ticket (not a huge deal) I see no problems with what he did.
@@keysd31 American culture in 2008 is vastly different from American culture today. Had he been playing in the league now and been born a couple years later speaking against the flag, the whole birthday spectacle and admitting to smoking weed would not be any detriment to his career at all. Problem was he did all of that when weed was still illegal and the country was still high on patriotism. If anything the birthday spectacle would've been his first strike. Drawing attention to yourself while your team is in a critical position in a playoff series is NOT a good look in any era. The speeding thing would be an obvious 2nd, especially had that led to a serious accident.
@@stevenparrish2290 na they were just triggered that he was not supporting obama and was being neutral. media and black democrats who think everybody has to be like them put the nail in the coffin for him
I made one on Andrew Bynum and somebody commented it felt like he was watching a rebound vid. Rebounds the goat so it meant a lot. But yes, he should make more
I grew up in Dalllas and am 30 now. I remember seeing him advertise for a dentist , smiling all big with his braces. Jason Terry and JHoward made a great 1-2 behind Dirk
I've been a Hooper all my life and if he was averaging 12 points a game than he was not the reason that they lost in the playoffs. People stop letting these media outlets control narratives use your brain when your digesting information
Being a hooper your whole life is not a valid point, it's called an appeal to authority and it's a logical fallacy to believe an argument based on some hypothetical expertise. Maybe Howard wasnt to blame for playoff losses, but to say that a player scoring only 12 a game couldnt be the cause of a series loss is ignorant. A player could hypothetically score 30 a game and deserve blame if, for examples, they do one of the following: score 30 game a game while shooting under 20% from the field, make 20 turnovers a game, play zero defense while having no rebounds or assists. That's just 3 examples of how you could score 30 and be the reason your team loses. You were balling too long not to have common sense about the game.
I'd never heard of this guy but I respect him, none of the stuff he did hurt anyone. Maybe it was dumb but he was being honest. As an Australian I'll never understand how being patriotic is such a virtue in the USA.
@@GolfIsFun69 I worked for Qantas airways (Australian airline) and they’re better people than us Americans. I truly think we let this country go to our head cause we are shitty people . Like imagine insulting someone for living in Australia when you’ve never been? That’s some American stupidity right there
Yeah people sheep for some guys in the pentagon in hopes of becoming more respected by the US government. But being anti weed or pro Ukrain or other dumb stances is simply to make politicians more tax dollars
He was a really good role player . I remember he played strong and hard . I believe it was more the injuries then the off court things because he went to other teams then got hurt . A lot of players came out and said they smoke
I actually met him twice and hung out with him once in Orlando for Marquis Daniel's birthday and was a nice guy. The Bible says those without sin cast the first stone. It's not a race is a marathon. Nice video, good job showing he is doing well, other videos they bash people and never show the good things. 👍
Putting strikes on someone like your the law. He was living his life. He addressed an issue that this country been covering up. Why should he pretend. Respect ✊ goes out to Mr. Howard both on and off the court.
So you think an athlete should destroy their team chemistry by living their life? It's a good thing you're not an NBA GM. Your team would be at the bottom of the league every year.
They don't don't ever want to hear the Truth, even to this very day and that's why you don't have many likes, because this channel is dominated by them.
I remember going to a Mavs vs Spurs game in the mid 2000’s and that night Josh Howard was unquestionably the best player on the court let that sink in.
You are very sincere and sympathetic in your story telling. Even though its content you understand people's livelihoods were destroyed. Thank you for being human
3.3 million views of a video promoting another false narrative on an athlete. It's pathetic and maddening to continuously watch peoples lives being spun in such untrue negative bs. He tore his fucking acl in back to back seasons yet this video narrows in on a speeding ticket and smoking weed smh.
2008 the Mavs weren't the favorites. They were the 7 seed and had fallen from 67 wins to 51 and avery johnson was fired there after. Also he still had a good year in 2009 and beat the spurs in the first round and after he was traded to the Wiz he was off to a good start b4 taring his ACL. So there's definitely revisionist history here
I really like your videos. I'm the type of person that looks at the glass being half full oppose to being half empty, sometimes you have to walk thru the fire to get to where your purpose in life is...
I used think Cuban was an ass. It's only in the last 5 years or so I realised how wrong I was. Delonte West is a prime example. Out of all the squads West was on - 3 years in Cleveland, 4 in Boston, half a season in Seattle and 1 in Dallas - it was Cuban that reached out to him, does anyone know if any of the other teams did? Hope you guys are good.
@@mid.life.crisis2955 For a billionaire Cuban's a pretty good dude. He made a pile of money in the late '90s, was savvy enough to get out of the market before the Dot-crash & decided, "Hey, I'm young, super-rich & I can either keep being a climber, maybe turn into an asshole or I can chill & spend the rest of my life doing things I love." Mark went the latter route.
What's funny is he was one of the first to the "kneeling for the national anthem" movement but back then they roasted him for it. If it were now they'd pay hommage for starting a movement and bringing light to the racial discrimination of this country. It's crazy how much just a few years can make a difference on an entire society.
More like corporations found a way they can make money off it….back then it just wasn’t financially lucrative and “trendy” for people to hold positions like that
Oh yeah there's so much I mean black basketball players can't play in the NBA, oh wait what they can, there isn't any system of racism, if that was the case he wouldn't of made millions of dollars
Josh from my city he's a really good dude what he did is not even close to what people from my city get in trouble for smh and he never let the fame go to his head either. And on my city where we grew up at we get treated dirty I have respect for him still Salute 💪🏼💯
Unfortunate downfall of his NBA career with all those mistakes, but picked himself up and showed himself he's better than his past and coached young players and probably teach them his life lessons. I hope he continues to redeem himself, on and off the court.
Hi Rebound! Just saying your videos are the best! You got me into playing basketball and start watching it! I hope that you are well and wish you all the best luck! -Everett
Rebound….if you’re going to say players were upset, you gotta at least post a quote or 2 from players to enhance that feeling. It feels like that’s how you would’ve felt if you were a teammate but you’re passing that opinion on to his teammates without proof. Great video, very thorough
@@smh.8905 the larger point is you still can’t say that FOR them….you never know they may have been more mad at management over the hypocrisy of a no marijuana law, yet they are allowed to get prescribed much harder meds. Don’t assume the players are as surface in their understandings as you may be accustomed to.
Josh learnt his lesson 1: Always try your best 2 :No speeding be a good person 3: Take the courage inside of you before you lose it: Always have faith and do what you can: MOST IMPORTANTLY BE WHO YOU ARE AND DO NOT MAKE VIRAL VIDEOS
Weed, partying, unpatriotic and oh yeah an ACL injury. The injury makes all of your points irrelevant. This man had a 9 year career in the league earning 50 million in salary along the way. From nothing to something to coaching the kids. Sounds like a success story.
Facts whoever running this channel, definitely loves to paint pictures a certain way that’s beneficial to themselves. We live in a grimy world man, people will do anything for a bag…smh. Nothing this man did was wrong 😂 yet dude tried his hardest to make bro seem like a failure
