Hi! I got the same model , Remington 521 -T, Junior 22 rifle, without the peep sight. I inherited the rifle, from my Dad. We used to go hunting with this gun when I was a kid. bring back good memories. Thanks for sharing.
I have your videos of this rifle in my Shooting Sports playlist. I view them often. Look into the Lyman 17 AML globe sight. I put one on my 521T because at my age the front sight was harder to see. Also the slightly higher center of the globe sight allows me to put my head in a more comfortable position.
The 5 series are great rifles. Remington in this era and earlier made truly excellent barrels. Their chambers were ideal as well - so some of the most accurate rim-fires ever. I have an earlier 310-T but the same idea. I stocked a 5 series for my dad and he loved it. Lighter weight by quite a bit than mine and scoped, it shot as well. Great rifles that properly set-up will shoot with Anschutz. Nice rifle. Nice shooting. Enjoying your videos.
Great video, Trapper...thanks! In 1968 I bought a used 521T that I still have and shoot today. Take care of that baby and you can still be shooting it when you're my age. As far as I know all 521T rifles came with the Lyman 57RS rear sight graduated in feet. Yours is the first one I've seen graduated in yards. If your 521's rear sight is not original maybe that's why the BCD is not working correctly for you. Just a thought. Take care and thanks again for the great video!
The reason your BDC is off is because you were using hi velocity ammo. The bdc is set up for standard velocity or target ammo. Nobig deal, just remember the offset between the 2 rounds. Nice rifle!
Great rifle! I would mate it with a Lyman Sight 17ATC Target Front Sight STD 3/8in Dovetail 8 Inserts. (about $50.00). With one of these on, I could see your shooting improve quite a bit.
When you find out where you are on at 100 yards, loosen the screw on the yardage plate, and slide it to the 100 yard mark. then tighten down again. That will be your zero at 100 yards.
