Seeing as Nike is declining rn and Adidas missed so many prior opportunities, they should take this as an opportunity to pass Nike, especially in the basketball space
Adidas copied Air Jordan 36. AE1 is the worst basketball shoes ever released. Adidas lied about its specs. The midsole mix changes with every release. It was boost, then light strike then a combination of two then jet boost. Nobody knows what AE1 are made of. AE1 flopped hard. It didn't sell well outside of the US. In the UK, you can see it in outlets for 65% off and it is still sitting. A bad product to put it simply.
Adidas basketball has had its ups and downs through the years. The crazylight line, d rose era and crazy explosive era with the introduction of boost into basketball were highly successful. Adidas has its moments and then goes to shit after awhile. Hope they dont drop the ball with the momentum they have now.
Always love it when you drop new content! My pair of the Kobe toasters is still alive and kicking after 23 years. I have the Kobe 1 as well in the Laker cw. They're built to last forever like foams. But you could have honorably mentioned the Pro Model and Forums too. I have those as well.
Loved the AE1 on court. Looks good and performed well, Ant’s performance last year definitely helped to boost his shoes’ popularity. It’s a shame that the leaked AE2 looked like that 😅
I think we're in a place in sneakers that a lot of companies are evolving rather than innovating. It's not always a bad thing, that's what a lot of people loved about the Kobe lines consistency. But it's kind of cool seeing out there designs at Adidas again. It reminds me of the more recent Alphabounce line. Like even now some of the more popular basketball shoes at Nike have elements of Kobe's. I mean even the most recent Sabrina 2 looks like a Kobe 5 take down. I know people love the original GT cut because it was like a maxed out Kobe
Imma say it as it is, this shoe looks like something Puma would make. Check out the Puma Netfit 18.1 soccer cleats it looks almost the exact same but with studs
Are we just going to pretend like the T-Mac line and Gil Zero lines never happened? T-Mac line and Gil zero lines were popular shoes but around 2007 adidas stopped making signature shoes for their star players. T-Mac, Gilbert Arenas, Kevin Garnett and upcoming Dwight Howard were really popular players so it made no sense why they decided to only provide PEs for these stars rather than continue their own line. Was adidas trying to cut costs? ANT is great but T-Mac was one of the biggest stars in the league and T-Mac vs Kobe dominated discussions.
Adidas made the right decisions with both going with Edwards and by locking Harden down with that $200 million dollar deal. Those two deals revived their basketball division for sure. And they need basketball badly now with Nike poaching some of their biggest soccer endorsement deals with teams and federations.
I remember growing up me and my friends wore a healthy amount of adidas basketball in middle school. Tmacs, KGs were nice, Game day Lightning’s, curious to see how the tmac 4s would have been retroed with that tightening mechanism!
Back In The Day I Did Not Care About Adidas. The Big 3 In The Sneaker Industry At That Time Were Nike, Reebok And Fila. To Me It Was The Adidas Kb8 That Brought Adidas Back Into The Spotlight.
i love the superstar but i think there's lots of shoes adidas should fuck with a bit more...that white and blue skyhook low is a dope looking sneaker. i've never seen em in the wild. i have the all brown low's and i used to see those last time they were around (05?)...clothing too. adidas had such sick sweaters back in the day. random comment lol sorry great video.
The issue I think Adidas are running into is that their new signature models are all starting to look alike. Harden 7/8, AE1, DON 6, Dame 9, ... I hope Trae Young's next shoe won't follow suit.
Adidas could've been soo much bigger if they took advantage when Edwards was still hot in the Playoffs. I was excited to get a pair and I believe that most people had the same reaction since Ae1s are selling out fast. Instead they waited months after the finals to release another colorway/ restocks and or release the lows. And after the loss to the Mavs, the hype for his shoes wasn't the same
I bought 2 pairs of dame 8 extply because they are the best fit for my feet, far better than everything from nike I have tried that are on the same cost level. The only good shoe I have tried are the lebrons 21 but they cost four times more and you can't use them on outside courts.
Most signature athletes have shoes customized their own foot so while normal shoes may be too narrow for you, I can guarantee that Jordan's fit him perfectly.
That Dame 6 or whatever it was look good(Them all red joints) Them got potential Like the AE1....But Adidas Def Has Them a BANGER with the AE1s For sure
Adidas didn't have to bounce back. Adidas had it all when boost was introduced. That year was nuts. D Rose 7, Harden vol.1, Crazy Explosive, CrazyLight Boost. This lineup just destroyed Nike. All of them where better than Nike, they got better materials, and the price where lower. Whoever decided to change direction made a huge mistake. Basicaly it took 7 years to comeback to 2016
Excited for the next Ant shoe..Adidas has been killing it in recent years in the football jerseys and boots space with the Predators overtaking Nike in that regard
Man I STRONGLY DISAGREE… NONE OF THESE ADIDAS LOOK GOOD. and to put Edwards signature shoe up with the Jordan 1 s is a joke. Adidas has a long way to go STILL and I think many other brands have surpassed them
You call them Superstars, I call them Shell Toes. Whatever they're called I lovem. These new designs though... Yuck... Eew... I effing hatem. These new Hardens are AWFUL. Maybe it's an age thing. If wearing pillows on ur feet is the future. Count me out. I'll stick with my MJs 1-9. Since I'm born and bred in Louisville, I'm also a hardcore fan of all of the Dons.
NO !!! Adidas is only selling RETRO SENAKERS! That"s it. NONE of their basketball shoes sales are close to half of Nike's. Just look at your own playgrounds> Heck, Lamelo's outsell all of Adidas basketball shoes in any AAU games that I've been to the past 2 years!
I love adidas terrace but I wouldn’t wear a pair of adidas basketball shoes lamping rabbits. The ugliest shoes I have ever seen. Nike basketball shoes defo look better.
Have to agree, plus they are usually pretty delicate nowadays as they're built to be light. Retro Bball shoes like the Adidas Top Ten have better casual shoe attributes imo. The change makes sense though, basketball has been around for so long that the gear is so highly optimized.
