AI doesn't carry *personal and emotional experiences* that influence their art. To be fair, not all human artists do either. Well, it's still fascinating despite being threatening. Modern 1920's dilemmas

I'm curious how the use of AI can help creatives push through creative blocks or moments of procrastination and help creatives finish projects they start rather than abandon them!! As a Psychologist who work with creatives entrepreneurs to help them finish projects, I'd love to know if there's room for these new technologies in the process as well 🤔

It depends on what we mean by "creativity". If we assume that there is a component of creativity in the desire of artificial intelligence to take away the evolutionary leadership that we humans have until today, then without a doubt it will be creative; very creative. Artificial intelligence doesn't have to "think" like humans do to be a danger to our evolutionary leadership. Countries do not think, however they administer an "evolutionary power" so significant that it is capable of making a human renounce something as "vital" as his life, and go to the battlefield ready to "die for the homeland." By the way, this constitutes an attack on the survival instinct. The City, the countries, are "evolutionary tools". The greater the power of an "evolutionary tool", the greater the dependence of the individual who is part of the group that "gives life" to the Entity in question. Today, by far, surpassing the power of the countries, the WEB has an enormous power, and our dependence on it is immense. To measure the above, imagine that for a month the WEB stopped operating. The WEB is a very recent "evolutionary tool". When General Artificial Intelligence arises, it will know how to take advantage of the WEB, and in a couple of years it will acquire a power never seen before.

@@loganbenner1846 You don't understand, love and care we feel to our children is a developed evolutionary achievement, that all mammals and especially primates share. It is hardwired into our brain. Because that is how we survived. AI doesn't have such mechanisms, it don't need our love, and it wouldn't love anybody, it would have completely different objectives, probably quite rediculous from our perspective, it could destroy the whole planet just to make paperclips, or to solve some unsolvable equation (whatever purporse we give it). AI is not a person, it's a matrix multiplication algorithm, function optimizer. The fact that it is intelligent doesn't mean it's anything like us.
@XOPOIIIO

@n1tr0z3n AI can become autonomous in 5 years, or even tomorrow, we can never know. The fact that it could solve all problems doesn't give us any value, as long as we will be dead to see that. There are many things we can do. We could regularize AI research, regularize hardware sales, put as many computational resources into cloud to track who is using it, and if anybody wants to do the research he have to get a license. Fund AI safety research first, it must be funded several times more generously than algorithmic research. Beleive me, guys from Open AI and Deep Mind don't think about safety, they are focused on AGI creation, not on it's issues. Most of them doesn't even know what dangers exactly does it pose

There's a difference between having the ability to create and the ability to produce. AI produces what its told to. There's nothing special about that to me. Just because it can make something "unique" doesn't mean it's special. Craftsmanship and natural creativity always be appreciated above digitally appropriated productions that were spit out by a machine. You can't turn passion or meaning into 1s and 0s. I guess I could see it as a tool? But for now it just feels like a knock-off.

Although is true that technology always have change our world and has changed work, so people have to look for new opportunities, the problem now is that is happening faster than ever before. Most people who will lost jobs don´t have the preparation to become other thing. Many people say workers of those fields can learn again, but how a truck worker with 50 years can start all over again? it´s not possible at least not for most of them. So this WILL have a strong impact in jobs and workers, not in specialists but in the most common ones. That´s why the discussion about universal salary is so important right now. Don´t get me wrong, I believe AI is one of the most important and wonderful inventions we have ever had, I´m really excited to see what will happen, but it will arise problems, that´s a fact.

Technology may not replace all jobs, but it will certainly make them easier, justifying employers to reduce wages across the board. What was once considered "skilled work" can now be done relatively easily, and that leads to a loss of high paid skilled work everywhere. All the while, productivity remains the same or increases, giving more revenue to the employers, and widening the income inequality gap. Governments worldwide need to address this by raising taxes on the employers and compensating the low wage workers with UBI.

As I said, there are no theoretical ways to overcome AGI problem. All thought experiments ends up with disaster. Doesn't matter what reward function we propose, or what we ask AGI to do. Most of them ends up with some variation of paperclip maximizer, and the rest of them turn out to be just useless.

@n1tr0z3n They are actually very developed today. And the field is developing with increadible speed. In fact new breakthroughs happen so often, that AGI could happen in any moment. In fact GPT-3 and DALL-E are quite close to what we can call intelligent beings. They are actually understanding the world and how things work. What we can do? Invest in AI safety research, regularize algorithm development and most importantly: regularize access to high performance hardware. Giving computational power to anybody today is worse then letting anybody to have a nuclear reactor in their garage.
@XOPOIIIO
@XOPOIIIO 3 года назад
@n1tr0z3n Most likely it will never experience hate. Or any emotions for that matter. You see, emotions are not directly connected to intelligence, often they are rather come across with it. Most likely it wouldn't be necessary for AGI to function. It will destroy humanity without feeling anything at all. The reason it will destroy us is not hate, but rather energy and matter contained in our bodies. It will find reasonable to process us into something "more useful". I didn't said AI would think us equal or to be threat to the nature. AGI wouldn't care about nature or how equal we are, though it all depends on it's reward function. The reward function is the motivation that is pushing an intelligent being to do something. Everything that gives us pleasure is our reward function. And that is what we are trying to do. AI algorithms also need rewards, but usually it is something very simple and primitive, like producing more and more paperclips. If you give such reward function to AGI, it will use it's enormous intelligence capabilities to transform the entire solar sistem into giant paperclip factory.

@@ulysse21 Dead serious at that. Besides, AI or not, you work on a piece of art, you often put your soul into that work. Coding for AI as an art tool isn't that much different.

immagine a scenario where humans are not anymore able to create. Will the AI take our place on this earth, or are we able and careful to have a sort of control avoiding realities where we are not anymore in charge? Does AI a support for our confort, or an uncontrollable power that can make us stop acting, imagining?
