yea but pretending to be conor is way easier than being a best figher in your division + wining every fight + getting a ko every fight + looking like you would be in prision for war crimes edit: how many comments do I have to reply before idiots get that this was a joke
I wonder what his ceiling is as a star. It’s absolutely incredible that a guy who talks this little has become this big of a star. He’s literally the biggest name in the ufc right now, amongst active fighters.
my favorite pereira moment was on glory where right after he drops wilnis again; he doesn't even know english but hes jumping around screaming over the ropes "i will fight you all" holy fuck that might have been the coldest title defense of all time
Poatan proved that those with indigenous blood...do not shy away from a fight. Today, indigenous culture is threatened by farmers and miners. Their lands suffer from pesticide poisoning and water contamination due to mercury used to extract gold. That is why most of them end up migrating to big cities. The indigenous tribes of Brazil are in great need of help. Thank God, a biologist who has a channel decided to teach them and to resume the ancestral habit of working with agriculture, but in a different way. “Agroforestry Agriculture”. This technique restores the soil and does not use pesticides. Anyone who can subscribe to the channel...and leave a like...will certainly help the channel to be monetized and thus...they will be able to buy the plants they need to reforest the indigenous area. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bC-4an4qj8Y.html
Pereira is what Adesanya always wanted to be. Pereira is a hall of famer kickboxer with 2 belts in two different weight classes even with half of Adesanya fights in KB. Pereira is a UFC hall of famer with 2 belts in two different weight classes. Pereira is 3-1 against Adesanya. Pereira defeated more UFC world champions than Adesanya even with half of Adesanya fights in MMA. Pereira is beloved by people around the world and doesnt try to force a character. Pereira has less than 3 years in MMA but he is already the number one athlete in whole MMA world. And everybody see the jealous in Izzy eyes and words when Pereira's name is mentioned in front of him.
Bro I seriously can’t stand Izzy but to act like he’s not a Hall of Fame caliber fighter is some straight casual fan boy behavior. Izzy is cringe af but the man is a killer and you’re delusional to say otherwise.
@@Yael_D_ That’s a big reach when Izzy flat lined Alex in their last fight. Doing all the other mma math bs about this and that common opponent is not even important. A hungry and focused Izzy is a dangerous man. To pretend he’s not is dumb.
@@jamesgarner4127 yeah but the weight cut was literally killing Alex if they fight again it’s going to be at light heavyweight and if that happens Alex is going to murder Izzy. He’s already lapped Izzy’s career and become a 2 division champ.
Lives in the same town as me, I’ve Met him several times including at my gym and at a Walmart. Super nice and polite. Funny to see him in places you would never Imagine
I live in massachusetts, like 40 minutes away from the gym . I told my 13 year old son that Glovers Gym is less than an hour away and that Alex trains there and he freaked out and got star struck and we did t even leave the house 😂😂 must be wild living in the same town and seeing him in public lol
One thing will always be stuck in my mind: Before the last round of Adesanya vs Gastelum, Adesanya says he’s ready to die inside that octagon to get the belt Before the last round of Adesanya vs Alex 1 when he’s asked by the referee: Are you ready? Alex says: “I’m ready to kill” That’s movie shit bro.
This dude resonates with everyone bc he’s real. Hard as a coffin nail and is constantly himself in every situation. Mad respect. And of course, *_chama_*
As a Brazilian i dont watch UFC But Alex made me interested for me he represents the Brazilian indigenous Warriors end it makes me happy for him having this sucess.
I know ppl hate Adesanya and I don't blame them but in reality, he beat him twice. That first decision was a robbery and if you go back and watch the entire thing, I don't see how you could disagree. And I'm not an Adesanya fan, Alex is the far more likeable fighter, but just keeping it 100. On paper, it's 3-1 but if we're all being honest, it's 2-2.
@@mrillmakeit I know that he might have beat pereira in thier first fight, I might go back and watch it, even though i Don't know how kickboxing is scored. It's just funny to shit on adesanya.
Such a legend! As a brazilian i'm proud and sad at the same time because of the lack of mma coverage by the local media this days compared to when i started to watch, Anderson Silva reign era. Now i have to show my friends and parents who Poatan is. It's nice to see how praized this monster is worldwide. Sorry for my bad english. Chama, from 🇧🇷👊🏼
I’m a brazilian living in Canada and I can tell that he has got a hype that not even Anderson Silva got. He is a legend in North America, and I also do feel bad that many of my friends who used to watch UFC barely know Poatan nowadays
Much love from America, and I'm suprised Brazil doesn't have as much mma coverage these days, Brazilian fighters like Poatan and Charles Oliveira are fan favorites in America
Bro built like a villain and when you're an MMA fan who likes Adesanya, knowing little about Alex other than the fact that he was the guy who beat, the seemingly likeable and heroic Israel 2 times, it's easy to see him as a sort of boogey man, the villain in Adesanya's story. But when you look into it, Alex Pereira is even more admirable and inspirational than Israel. He is a legitimately good human, someone I really looked up to. He was the one who inspired to me start going to the gym and learn kickboxing. The story of his childhood and alcoholism has also helped me abstain completely.
9:13 “a piece of someone else’s puzzle; a villain in someone else’s story; and now finally a hero in his own”- gosh do I appreciate good writing. You must be proud of that one 🔥
I had literally never heard of Alex until the press conference of UFC 281. I was rooting for him since I disliked Izzy and he did not disappoint. After the knockout at 287 I was upset and thought it was over for Poatan. But he moved up and has dominated since, I can’t believe in how short of a time this man has become one of my absolute favorite fighters in the game. *I’m happy to be a fan in his era and am stoked that he and Islam are the PFP top 2 🐐🔥 I will look back at this time as the golden era for the UFC 🥲
@@sro1756 I did but I was very new to the scene, my first fight I watched was Chandler vs Justin. I really only watched the main events or videos on older fighters like Khabib. Now I’m more invested in to much more of what the sport has to offer
@@lilgabriel0517 He is P4P #1, Islam realistically is #5 behind O'Malley, Edwards and Topuria. The deluded casual fans set Islam as #1, but the man is going life and death with Volk moving up and Dustin who didn't deserve a title shot. Poatan meanwhile is decimating LHW without taking any real damage (other than his toes).
@@MartialArtsNk Nah, islam behind topuria is just wild. The only good fighter topuria faced was volk. Islam beats olivera with sub, volk with ko, dustin with sub. so, who do you think would win against islam in lw rn?
@@akmalanugrah7360 Ilia Topuria, that's who. If they fought Ilia sleeps him. Man went life and death with Dustin, clearly when his takedown defense isn't working he barely wins. Ilia can counter the grappling arguably better than Volk did, and he's got way better boxing than Volk which gives Islam fits.
@@jamesgarner4127 Aspinall has 1 legit submission win in his career vs Volkov who had Gane levels of grappling.... You guys overrate Aspinall too damn much. And don't even mention that Arlovski nonsense, man was in his 40s beating Aspinall on the feet.
I have been a UFC fan since the early 2000s and have never bought a UFC shirt. But I recently bought two of those Full violence Alex Pereira shirts, he's my favorite fighter now
I was in the arena twice when Alex fight. I was in the arena for the Sean Strickland knockout(I also met shawn in Vegas he’s a very nice guy by the way) and I was there for that switch near knockout. Alex Pereira is an incredible fighter. when his career is done he needs a movie or a documentary a 30 for 30 anything.
The scary thing is it’s not like he just came in at his peak he’s getting better and better every fight more comfortable more technically and way more precise we might be witnessing a all time generational great right now
Best way to become a star in anything is to be true to yourself. Worked for Connor, and it's worked for Alex too. Human beings have immense appreciation for authenticity.
Izzy is such a petty, salty footnote in the career of Alex. Its actually enjoyable watching him carry on, knowing that he will never be the fighter that Alex is.
Izzy couldn't beat strickland either but poatan koed him. Izzy couldn't beat Jan blachowicz but alex pereira beat him. Izzy tried to become 2 division champion but lost but when Alex tried he succeeded. Poatan is what izzy always wanted to be I also like how the ufc thought investing in o'malley, topuria and Ian Gary was going to off and they were going to be the next biggest star in the ufc but didn't WORK, BUT!!! out of nowhere poatan is slowly becoming the face of the ufc BECOMING and becoming like a cult figure to the fans.
@@thecowgoesvroom672 because the middleweight division was by far the worst for years lmao nowadays idk if Izzy would even become champ, never fought one good wrestler..
The "documentary" is well done but just making one correction, neither Charles nor Poatan are from the city of São Paulo, they both come from the state of São Paulo, but Charles is from Guarujá, a city on the coast of the state and Poatan is of São Bernardo do Campo, a city in the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
My dream is that Stipe pulls out two weeks before the Jon Jones fight and Poaton steps in. Jon vs Alex could be great. It could also be a one way wrestling/grappling masterclass from Jon. Would love to see it
the humble approach to glory is an embodiment of the brazilian ideal of a hero, the one who is clearly superior but doesn't need or like to show off. We see a lot of other figures that embody the same ideals in Brazilian football
Low key one of the scariest things of Pereira is that warcry of him...he has a deep voice not like other greats: Mike Tyson, Cormier, Jon Jones who all have soft voices (No diddy)
Adesanya 1-3 against Pereira. Adesanya completely dominated by Jan. Adesanya completely dominated by Strickland. If Adesanya loses next undeserved title fight, his career is over.
You've gotta still be a teenager or something to be this bias and salty lol. He avenged his pereira loss and then lost 1 fight. Like calm down I know Izzy upsets a lot of you but just breathe for a sec and think about what you're actually saying 😂
8:01 To be able to look the face of one of the greatest Middleweights ever, and be able to say to him, "Look at me" while he is genuinely not making eye contact from sheer intimidation.... Damn. Power. That's some serious aura.
Izzy showed us in that 4th fight that Poatan is human. And what a freakn special human this guy is. Even being brazilian, what I've heard of Alex was so few, that I can admit that even us didnt knew him well. Thanks Adesanya! CHAMA
Let's be honest the wrestling and size of Tom will make for big problems..Jones as well but if Alex can get into a title fight and just not get dominated it will be more than impressive a win would just be well crazy goat shit ether way I'll be watching and rooting
Glad to see other fans with some actual knowledge and logic. Alex is amazing but he’s untested by a great all around fighter. Toms ground game is a big problem that I don’t think Alex is ready for.
I believe with Jones he has a lot more of a chance as Jones is not at his peak anymore and there is a lot of footage of him to be studied and make a gameplan. It would still be a dangerous fight. Aspinal however is the more complicated one in my eyes, it depends mostly on what Tom will choose to do. If he keeps it standing like he did with Pavlovich Alex has a big enough chance to shred his legs, setup a knockout or catch him closing the distance. If Tom decides to grapple however I have trouble seeing Alex surviving a full round and I don't see him winning, unless Aspinal has terrible cardio, since we haven't seen much of him past the first round. Even then that's a really big if.
@@jamesgarner4127 I can see your point but lets not forget that alex left kickboxing for real in 2021. He's a MMA fighter for real for just 3 years. My man proved he's a crazy fast learner, everyone talk about his power but somethng that aways gets me is how smart he is on working on his opponets weakness. Those crazy knockouts dont happen out of the blue, they are set up. That said I trully belive he can pull a W against aspinall. His ground game must have improved, even tho he did not needed it yet.
@@pashetube Brother tell me who the best fighter he’s beat that’s a great grappler. Alex has elevated his career by fighting other strikers. What he’s done is absolutely amazing and I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve to be where he’s at. I just want to see him prove himself against a true mma fighter that can dominate on the ground and on the feet. Heavyweight is a very dangerous level even for a guy like Alex. Jon Jones is equivalent to Alex size wise and he stayed at Light Heavyweight for a reason. Heavyweight is a different animal when you have guys like Tom that are huge, athletic and can beat you on the ground and the feet.
@@jamesgarner4127 Blachovicz is a great grappler (bjj blackbelt), even tho that was a close fight, the same Blachovicz overpowered Adesanya, that may be cringe as hell but is a straght up killer in his own right. But yeah, there are not much to talk about alex oponents because he didn't had that many, but still managed to surpass expectations time and time again. And again, I think people talk to much about his power not giving much credit to his fight iq. In a fight against Aspinall, alex is the underdog, but the possibility of him getting a W is more of a reality than what most think. Jones is a diferent story, I love the man, and he's the goat in my opinion, even tho he trashed a hometown hero (I'm from Curitiba, Brazil, same city as Shogun Rua), but he had too much shit going on his personal life, it's not like he could have planed his carrer perfectly around it.
to me izzy and poaton are a duo almost as much as they are rivals. adesanya brought the star power and pereira brought the fire power; and now hes the star
Alex has the ability to say things that are so perfectly delivered and badass sounding that it feels almost too good for reality, like it feels almost like a quote from some action movie or something, while not sounding rehearsed or over the top. From, "Look at me.... Saturday," when facing Izzy, or when talking at the press conference before the Hill fight, "I will make you remember this moment." He's the literal living embodiment of what it means to be badass.
Alex is one of my favoeite fighters, ive watched every fight hes had in the ufc. Seeing the rise through the ufc was awesome, seeing him get kod made me very sad but he has continued to live up to the hype, enjoy him while he is here. When i started watcbing live events it was to see my at the time favorite robbie get knocked out 🥲
