I've been extremely choked up the last couple of days about this one. 2020 has dealt us some tough hands, this one hits home for me. Jeopardy was a huge part of my childhood, makes me think of the great times I had with my grandmother, who adored Alex and the show. Even though we knew that he wasn't going to conquer this horrible disease, I still didn't think it was time to lose him. Thanks for the bond you helped me build Alex, I'll never forget it.
I feel like this is quite important to be seen. A lot of people are saying to stop the show, but that's not what Alex would want. The pursuit and celebration of knowledge must ever continue and so the show must go on!
I haven't seen anybody say stop the show. I do think it might be appropriate for the show to take a bit of a break. So they should air all of the new episodes then start working on the new host 60 to 90 days later start taping again this seems appropriate.
I have seen some who want the show to end. To end Jeopardy is a disservice to new generations who can benefit a lot from watching the show, and playing along. It needs to keep going, and I'll welcome anyone who takes over the mantle of host.
The best thing they can do to honor Alex’s memory is continue the show. If they cancelled it after he put so much hard work into it, even while fighting pain and fatigue from terminal illness, all of that would be for nothing. Alex believed in ”Jeopardy!” more than anyone. They owe it to him to keep it on the air, so I’m glad they’re planning to. No one can replace him. Everyone knows that. But that doesn’t mean someone can’t come along and do an amazing job as well, even becoming an icon in their own right. Alex himself wasn’t the first host of “Jeopardy!”, so that should tell you something right there.
Absolutely right. You can’t really replace a host because they have already made their mark in television history. However, you can select the right person to carry the torch from where Alex had to leave off. 🔦
@@boisegameshowguy The new host should be allowed to tread his, or her, own path forward as a Jeopardy Host. They should be able to be themselves. That is why Drew Carey and Steve Harvey have worked so well as the hosts for The Price is Right and Family Fued. They were allowed to be themselves and tread their own paths while still keeping with the overall traditions of the two shows. Allow the next host a chance to become one of the many greats hosts in the possible Jeopardy show legacy.
@@Lunzatis_Palemoon the same will eventually happen with Wheel of Fortune. People would say that Pat Sajak could never fill Chuck Woolery's shoes (same with Vanna White with Susan Stafford) and both have been doing WoF (both network and syndication) for almost as long as Alex Trebek has hosted Jeopardy; himself having to fill big shoes himself (being Art Fleming's). The biggest mistake would be replacing Trebek with a host that wouldn't fit in, like the late Bill Cullen taking over as host of The Joker's Wild after Jack Barry's death in 1984.
you probably dont care but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost the login password. I would love any tips you can give me.
Alex Trebek has made a tremendous impact on my life ever since I was a little kid watching Jeopardy with my grandmother as a kid. I am going to miss Alex Trebek after his final episode Jeopardy won't be the same.
This hit SUPER hard. Truly an irreplaceable fixture in our home. I have learned SO many things from tuning in, and always loved how effortless he made hosting the game (and pronouncing some of those clues!) look. I don't even know how the heck I am going to watch it once his 35 episodes finish airing, and another host is selected :( I am so so so so so saddened by this, and wish his family strength and comfort in this extremely difficult time. We will miss you, Alex! Rest in Peace
The combination of the show and Alex was magic . He can't be replaced . I love the show , and hope it continues . I think that Alex would want the show to continue .
You were a fixture in our homes at 7pm for over 30 years educating and entertaining us until the very end. Because of your candor and spunk Jeapody never got old. You made learning cool. Thank you so very much. May God bless you with Etermal rest dear Alex. 🙏🙏🙏
Qualities desired in a Jeopardy host: courteous, moral, respectful, friendly, interested in everything, curious, directing attention to guests not himself, and well-groomed.
I'll miss you Sir Alex 🥺 God bless you and your family, thank you for being such a wonderful and kind host to my favorite game shows ❤️❤️ #WeLoveYouAlex
You know how important people are in your life when they leave. It creates a void that, even though it may be partially filled, it can never be filled completely.
Although I live in the UK, I’ve been to the US & Canada many times, and I always ALWAYS tuned into Jeopardy. There was a version of Jeopardy made in the UK in the early 90’s, but it paled in comparison to Jeopardy in the US, mainly because of Alex. Such a lovely, down to earth, dry and kind gentleman was Alex. I definitely wept a few tears when I heard of his original cancer diagnosis (when he mentioned it was stage IV that had me worry - it wasn’t long after my own dad’s passing from cancer), and despite the brave and amazing fight, his passing has had me in tears again. I know Alex wouldn’t want it, but I think it would be fitting if they named the studio after him. If it was mentioned at the beginning of the show it would ensure that his legendary name would continue to be mentioned on a nightly basis. We miss you Alex!
He was a good man and I remember him not only being on Jeopardy but being a guy who loved Rugrats, hearing him on there as the host of the game show Didi Pickles was on made me smile. I’ll never forget him and I know they’ll pay tribute to him everyday on Jeopardy. I still remember when he hosted Wheel of Fortune with Pat and Vanna as the contestants for an April Fools Day ep. That was really cool and I’m gonna miss him.
@@sheenalawson to start, I am a black woman... But what I don't understand is why all of a sudden everything is about POC? If someone is qualified to do something, then why does his/her color matter so much, especially nowadays?
@@gadinagill342 if all things were even, then a POC should be who they choose. It’s important for children and youth to see themselves represented. It’s time to make conscious choices. We have more representation and diversity in our programming.
I was walking home with my dog when I read it on my cell phone it stopped me in my tracks and my body got covered with goosebumps followed by tears. I thought we had more time
I very strongly agree! Jeopardy is the best game show on television and it should continue in Alex Trebek's memory. I watch it when I am home after a work and it's a show I can play along well.
Alex was just the greatest ever. He was a genuine nice guy and will always be in our hearts. I hope Ken Jennings will be given the opportunity to host Jeopardy in the near future. Lord 2020 has been a horrible year.
During the last 4 years which divided my family politically, watching Jeopardy with Trebek every night at 7 seriously helped form a bridge. He was so neutral and comforting, and facts matter, and Alex Trebek made that a priority.
I am grieving for Alex Trebek. I had a 97y/o neighbor, who would call me to her house to watch JEOPARDY, with her. We both had love in our hearts for Mr. Trebek. She passed away in December 2020. In a way, I’m glad she passed away before him. She would have been so sad, as I am. My sincerest condolence to his family.
He had a woman as a contestant that passed away from cancer, shortly after her shows aired and he paid a beautiful tribute to her when he learned that she was dead
Whoever gets the job will have some very big shoes to fill. It's like the next performer to go on stage, but the performer before them had an act so great that it brought down the house. Good luck to that person.
My heart broke when I found out he passed away I really thought he was going to pull through every since I was a young I only knew one host of the show I don’t know if there was other hosts before Alex but nobody can take his place it’s gonna have to be somebody really good
It is going to be so tough for whoever hosts the first show after Trebek's last. It's probably unpopular, but I think Johnny Gilbert would be a good pick.
Everyone is talking about Ken Jennings becoming the host but since he’s been on master minds, his arrogance has shot through the roof! He may be knowledgeable yes, but he DOES NOT carry the sophistication, elegance, charm or humility Alex did to be host of Jeopardy. I believe it’s possible to find someone who can embody both the intelligent and charming, sophisticated side of Alex. Alex’s persona cannot simply be replaced with a know it all who likes to show off. The show wouldn’t last! This is all in my opinion of course. 🤷
A Betty White special appearance (if she feels up to it) to follow up a joke Alex made, then a new regular host. Also, hotdamn, Alex’s wife is gorgeous!
Alex Trebek said he would like Ryan Seacrest to be the next host of Jeopardy! He said it on Live with Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest. Are they going to honor his wish? Would Ryan accept it?
No one will be Alex but hopefully fans will honour and respect the new host as it would so disappoint him to see the show not succeed. It's going to be tuff to choose I think ken Jennings has the smarts to do it but maybe not the presence. It will be interesting.
A man than can gather repect, be held up as an example of hard work and study; and elevate the game to be viewed by a larger more diverse audience would be Barrack Obama.
We will miss you Mr. Trebek. R. I. P. Last Friday, 14 years Angelina Jordan released the song “Million Miles” that she dedicated to all those who lost a loved one. She wrote it thinking about her grandfather who passed away 2 years ago. It is only fitting to pass the dedication of this song to Alex Trebek’s family, friends, and his millions of fans. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NhKRh5ZtuWk.html Thank you and stay safe.
