Gili Air is such a nice little island, we loved the fact that it was quite small and we could go around by foot or by riding a bike. The accommodation was so good, especially for the price! Really happy with it :) Thank you for watching
We stayed at Biba Beach over New Years holiday… In the cabin about two doors down from yours… absolutely loved the place… The island wasn’t yet super crowded as tourism was recovering from the pandemic still but you could see signs it was increasing… so by Summer of ‘23 it should be back to ‘normal’ - we’ll be going back for sure but I think we’ll find a place in Senggigi and settle in for a longer stay and just read on the beach, swim, and watch sunsets from some of the lovely restaurants along the west facing beaches of Lombok… Sampai jumpa lagi!
Such a nice place, especially for the price. The staff was lovely too! It was still a little quiet on the island when we were there. They are expecting more people for the summer season, though. It is the perfect place to relax for sure and take things slow. We loved snorkelling in front of the hotel, such a beautiful spot for it. Thank you for watching 😊
Hello, Gili Air is a nice little island but very quiet to be fair. We heard that Gili T is the 'party island' of the three islands? (We didn't go, so I'm not sure how accurate it is). Next time we should visit, we love a place with good vibes :) Sylvie
Next exploring to skywalk Senayan park of Jakarta city, raja Ampat Papua, Toraja Sulawesi, mount Bromo East Java, mount Rinjani Lombok, bukit Lawang see orang utan north Sumatra, lake Toba in north Sumatra and labuan bajo komodo dragon island in Flores INDONESIAN 🇮🇩🙏🙏
Great video! Was it ok going during ramadan…were affordable restaurants still open? Did it rain when you were there + could u still walk on dirt roads? Not sure if we go in January when it’s rainiest, or latest we can go is march, better weather but ramadan 🤔
Hello, thank you for watching! It was fine during Ramadan. We just had to have our tea earlier or eat at the hotel because some places closed earlier (around 5 pm) but some were still opened though. We did not have that much rain during our stay, but when it did rain, we waited for it to stop and then had a walk around (it was not too bad). Thank you for watching, and I hope this helps 😊 Sylvie
Hello, the boat ride felt safe. We made sure the weather was good enough before going, it was clear day. Also the boat was quite big so it also made us feel safe. We were asked if we wanted to go by speedboat (small one and cheaper), and we said no.
The boat ride if you come to the Gilis from Lombok is only about ten minutes and it’s very safe. The other boat ride from Bali is longer of course. If you take one of the ferry trips from Bali and you are know you are susceptible to motion sickness then prepare yourself with some Dramamine or other motion sickness remedy bcoz mid channel you certainly may encounter some wave action as the narrowing of the channel between Bali and Lombok and the waters moving between the Indian Ocean on the south and Java Sea on the north must pass thru that narrow channel and there can be some wave action mid crossing. I’ve seen a lot of green faces on that crossing and the crew on most ferries will pass out plastic baggies to anyone who asks bcoz at least several ppl will get motion sickness and the boats are tightly packed - it’s a bit easier to handle IF you can get a spot topside and not be packed in below - however there are only so many spots available top side and you cannot always get an open air seat… so be prepared. I who have sailed and kayaked a lot during my lifetime got unexpectedly motion sick last time I took the 90 minute fast ferry from Lombok to Padang Bai in Bali - It kinda surprised me to get sick from that but it happens. Is it ‘safe’? It’s as safe as anything in life… Remember ‘Ships are safest in the harbor, BUT that’s not what ships are for…’
Thank you! One week should be fine, plenty of time to explore and relax. They offer different tours such as snorkelling and trekking in Lombok. Also, you could explore the other Gili islands if you want to do something different. :) We were on Gili Air during Ramadan, so prayers were a bit longer than usual, but it did not disturb us or anything like this. It woke us up the first night, but then we got used to it. :)
@Johan Nilsson Sounds like a really good plan! Have a great time! 😊 We loved Ceningan and Lembongan. We hope we will also visit Lombok and Nusa Penida one day, too :)
