I work for an energy assessment office that was sent out to the OKC plant to perform an energy audit. They are doing great with bringing that place back up-to-date and working on their assembly line and processes there. Got to see their newest electric truck prototype, and I would love to share details about it but I'm under NDA. All I can say is that, as a mechanical engineering student that is very critical on the overhyping of EVs, I am actually wanting their truck. It has actual utility to it and it's not a boxy dressed-up mess, that is the Cybertruck, or other EV trucks like it. Also, I can tell that their employees are treated very well by the company there.

Canoo is truley a innovative company with a lof of potential. Billions in pipeline orders (Walmart, Kngbee, Zeeba and more) and growing. Main hurdle now is cash and production to get everything rolling. Hard times with inflation, interest rates rising, credit cards and housing markets on the edge of possible major correction which makes it hard to gain investors. Hopefully some big $$ investors can help get this company over the hump and start to fulfill their fleet orders.

Their chief designer took off about a year ago, they could just hire him. Alot of the investors wish Apple would buy this design as well, but in order for them to sell the company they need management to maneuver the company into something that doesn't just burn 1 billion dollars of cash and have nothing rolling off the production line. I like it... it is quirky, but cool. Also, as great as it is that EVs like Tesla are very fast, we need more responsible vehicles, especially around cities. As nice as it is driving an EV that can do a 9 second 1/4 mile vehicle with a zero to 100 of 2.5 seconds, if one just needs to get around, a 12 second 1/4 mile vehicle with zero to 100 of 10 seconds is just fine... especially if the resulting range can be equal to the faster unit, but from a battery half the size. The scaled down size that retains the capacity of a 4x8 sheet of plywood is genius, but the challenge facing Canoo and all electric vehicles is the combination of raw materials, weather, and infrastructure. EVs don't pollute on the road, but there are serious environmental problems in securing the raw materials for the batteries and environmental problems for what to do with batteries at the end of their life cycle. Then there is the problem of both excessively hot and excessively cold weather. Hot weather uses up range with air conditioning and cold weather eats up range with both heating occupant space and diminished battery efficiency. On top of that, we still don't have adequate coverage for charging stations or the electricity production to support millions of EVs. And while statistics say ICE vehicles have more fires, the EV fires are so intense that many will continue to fear EV ownership until the EV fire issue is solved. I like the concept of EVs and if I were ready to own one, I would really like a Canoo. I hope they succeed, but even though the government is trying to ram EVs down our throats, I don't think it is realistic yet. What the industry needs is a battery with eco-friendly materials and a much lower risk of intense fires. It's also going to need a much larger capacity electricity grid, whether by nuclear or fossil fuels. (The current technology in renewable energy is just not adequate.) EVs would also benefit from quick exchange batteries. With batteries being a part of the structure of the vehicle, there is no real potential for a used EV market, but only a large pile of more junk cars as batteries fail.

$150m over 10 years does not really help them. And, their stock is still well under $1, thus a reverse split is most likely to occur unless they significantly increase in value. With current management, their odds of failure are above 50%. Their vans including the new model which is longer should be a great win for them once they are producing ... once is the keyword, and the sooner the better.

I'm worried when I see an incoming auto manufacturer apparently doing assembly the old-fashioned way when Tesla is (apparently) reinventing how to put together a car in minimal time.
@Lifecoach7Ra
@Lifecoach7Ra Год назад
That is usual for startups to make some prototypes if not sure they ever come to market. You need an ‚all in‘ Elon Musk to finance a real new production line assembly and not the usual shark investors that just want to benefit from the mass-attractive hype. Those were obviously nearly killing Tesla for other interest in their portfolio. You need people with personal integrity and not man-agers and paid whores that have something to loose besides the money of greedy investors and politicians. But even then you face all kind of Mafia that do not want you to succeed. Especially if their products are of mediocre qualities or makes them loose markets. Here life is no pony farm, as we say in Europe. In my life I saw so many nearly perfect innovations that mostly failed due to personal reasons and doing business with the wrong people. So far Elon Musk is the only actual industrial leader who managed that extremely well. Gates, Zuckerberg, Soros etc. is ALL vaporware doing business on cost of others work and life without really adding to society if you understand what I mean. Of course Excel-Tables are adding but we also could live without. But Tesla is about cheaper energy and cost per mile or mobility and housing as such with the best available technology. That is what makes them special not because of the best ever made serial EV or electric truck that are just results of another thinking approach🤓🇨🇭

"Canoo makes a van.. for NASA" Yes, this is the passenger van that I think they wanted to sell as if it were the next generation of Checker. Canoo also makes a much larger delivery van. ALSO, Canoo is now making a military variant of the Canoo Truck/People Hauler. These are LTeVs. Quite frankly "Canoo" may no be out of its financial troubles, but it has established a niche. No telling if the Niche will develop into a good revenue stream.

The truck looks like a futuristic version of an early VW bus/crew cab pickup. Fold down sides and all! Smart move. I love this company too and hope they make it, but it takes BILLIONS to ramp. Then billions more to stay ramped. Lucid had/has that. They build a great car but ain’t exactly “printin’ it” yet. Lordstown had a good start (RIP) but that truck was corny IMHO. Something about this company tho! Really good mojo from these guys and nobody I talk to wants to see them fail. 🤞🍀👊

I bought their stock, which cost me dearly. Yet, I love their fresh design and feel they should make it. How is Aptera having so much trouble finding funding and Canoo seems to find some all the time?
Год назад
Investors are more skeptical about Aptera because the design is so radical. (The Canoo looks different, but fundamentally it's a normal minivan aside from the electric powertrain.) There is not yet an established market for a hyper-efficient EV with only two seats and very little cargo space. It's not going to be much use as a delivery vehicle, except perhaps for Doordash drivers and the like; it's personal transportation, not commercial. It's also not currently eligible for the federal tax credit because it's not considered to be a car; it's technically a motorcycle. (It may be eligible for some state tax incentives.) I would like to see both companies succeed.
@kwaazaar
@kwaazaar Год назад
@ The Aptera actually has a lot of cargo space, though maybe not the most practical shape. I get your points, but they seem a very healthy and transparent company, work a clear focus (1 model) and need much less money than these bigger companies like Canoo. I also hope they both make it.
