Geometrically, why are onions better than potatoes? Neil deGrasse Tyson and Chuck Nice break down Cartesian coordinates, spherical geometry, and why onions make you cry.
Learn about coordinates on a square, a sphere, and a cylinder. We talk about the geometry of potato chips versus french fries. Plus, why does Neil feel moved to cut an onion in the office?

Classical French trained chef here, also part time non phd astro physicist. You are cutting the onion incorrectly. First use a smooth edge, not serrated. second, use the length of the blade, don't press down; squeeze. That way you don't cry by smooshing the cells.

When I was young you had actors and actresses so you could discern male and female performers but now we don't use the word actress we only have actors - regardless if they're male or female. Also when I was young, we only had chefs - didn't matter if you were male or female. Now, apparently, we have shefs, so we can discern male chefs from female chefs .... isn't that a contradiction in the two cases?

One of my favorite examples of coordinates is Star Gate. I know it would fit better in an episode of Film vs. Fact. To find a position in a 3 dimensional reality, you have to have six points, adding a seventh, the point of origin. It's always been incredibly fascinating to me.
