I think the most challenging part of genealogy is realizing that, someday, _you_ will be the ancestor whose life is being reconstructed. How do we leave behind our _own_ compelling story for them?

I also have farmers in my family tree. It’s a big deal aka time for a story when they owned property instead of just sharecroppers. Also another nice story in my line was when they children started attending school and the generation could then read and write their name instead if signing with an “X”! Every family has a story!

Thank you all so much for the research and hard work you do to help make the show WDYTTA….absolutely love that show. Not getting hardly any information from my relatives about my family, watching the stories of the people on WDYTYA about their heritage is actually comforting and exciting for me. Weird I guess but it is what it is. Thanks again

Would love to see an episode or two about DNA in this series. DNA is the only 100% true fact in family history research.

Just started looking back into mine and it's so confusing and spooky, from Slaves to Runaways, Slaves that had children with the owners, AWOL soldiers, French Royalty, Scottish Royalty... but many of my Black & Indigenous ancestors seem to be lost in the times taking me back only to the 1900s, maybe getting the DNA will help me with my story because I really want to give my ancestors their names back

Thanks for exploring your family history with Ancestry, Amethyst Amaris. We know that it can sometimes be tricky to research Indigenous or African American ancestors, unfortunately. We have created some research guides to assist with this, which may be helpful for you. You can find these and some general search tips attached below. Hi Ancestry. I'm watching from Barbados. I have been trying to get access to traits for a little while now but I can't seem to get any access. Can someone help me? My name is Shane Butcher.
