Nice, some harder pruning for some of the branches along the ground. Really tides them up.

Super helpful! I'm trying to learn to be more aggressive with my pruning now that I've seen the good it can do, and this is a nice guide.

It was fun to find your channel. My mother's surname was Moore and my father's was Manor. So it was especially fun.

Good tips. Thank you so much. I did not know that lavender didn't like alot of water. Pruning instructions were very helpful. I'm going to check out your other vids on starting stems for rooting. God bless 🌈🙏🌈.

Thanks for the video. What zone are you in? Some info online says not to prune in fall and leave open cuts exposed to harsh winter conditions. Unsure what info to go by.

We're in zone 4b-5. I've heard the same thing but it hasn't seemed to bother ours. The best time may be when your schedule allows - within reason! You could wait until spring, before the new growth comes on, then you could get some of the winter kill also.

I bought a potted lavender plant. I live in a colder climate and the flowers eventually died. The plant foliage looks great and is established. I wanted to see the blooms. What do I do with it at this point? Thank You in advance.

Thanks. I appreciate the simple explanation. I have a very old container lavender that I’ve kept going. The woody base is now looking like an old bonsai tree but in the container it’s cool looking. I got some nice flowers out of it but didn’t harvest as some tomato plants I was growing near it kind of took over like a tomato jungle. I need to prune this coming week and was hoping for a nice simple explanation. I’ve always just known to cut a few inches above the wood but on mine bc it’s a shaped plant it’s tricky to keep it even in the container. Would love to see how to simply root the lavender and keep it going through winter if I can get some tips going. I have rooting hormone but woody things I’ve tried rooting in water usually rots. Any tips to keep it from rotting?

We’re currently in the process of a big pruning to get more air circulation around the plants. I know what you mean as far as the bonsai look! If yours is really stringy looking maybe you could tackle it over a couple of years so you’re not taking off too much at a time. I’m still working to perfect my cutting process but I’d use the non-woody stems and non flowering ones. After that it’s a matter of getting the soil, air temp, air moisture, and light just right. Use bright indirect light.

Thank you. I saw some Creeping Charlie around your Lavender plant. Those are a pain to get rid off.

The thing is, where I live, 56°N in Scotland, the bees are still on my Lavender. Due to weeks of heavy rainfall, most of the other flowers in my garden are gone. There's still butterflies feeding too.

That sounds wonderful! We're getting a mix of cool and warm days now. Leaves are beginning to change from green to colorful.

Thanks for this video, we live in a freezing climate in the winter as well. Do you also prune in the spring? Over the winter, the entire lavender plant turns gray, so it’s hard to tell where the new growth will come from for pruning.

Ours does the same. I've heard stories of people who dig up their plants thinking they died! We usually wait until the weather settles and we see litle bits of new growth, then prune out any dead branches. Some years we need to prune out winter kill where the wind, cold, and ice blast sections of the plant. Last year we didn't need to do much pruning at all.
