Great stuff as usual Bryan. A question (or possibly a topic(s) for a future video) is Rest/practice routine. There's a plethora of info and schools of thought on just how much to rest, when to rest, alternate easy/hard chops days etc. When I'm in a regular gig routine (3 to 4 times per week) the chops seem to respond most efficiently and feel very good overall but with regard to a practice routine I sometimes struggle to find a condensed balanced routine that allows me to gain embouchure strength without overtaxing the chops.
Thanks for the great lesson. Any recommendations for an exercise for a subtle vibrato? I am trying to introduce lip vibrato to long tones but I wonder if you have a suggestion for something more conservative
I’m not sure it really needs an exercise. You need to spend some time using vibrato in all sorts of musical situations to figure out what goes where. Long tones are as good a place as any if you’re working out the mechanics of what to do.
Do you mean a double buzz? That’s caused by excess lip tension. Practice a relaxed Volume Series (Exercise of the Week #4) - sounds to me like you’re pinching to control soft dynamics.
@@AirflowMusicNYC I have problems with that too. A buzzing gets produced from the right side of my lips and it’s so hard to stop this. It buzzes more when I play higher notes
