I love your honest and realistic take on quitting your job. You have motivated me to put my ideas out there as I am a chronic procrastinator (especially about starting my RU-vid channel). I can't take medication for ADHD and PTSD due to pregnancy but thank you for pointing out how sometimes therapy is not enough. I am in a different stage. I have my wonderful children to prioritize but everything else resonates as a woman in tech who wants freedom but also needs the $$$.

Thank you for acknowledging missing the salary! I quit my toxic well paying job in March, started driving and doing side jobs and just barely started working a regularish job last month. My spending habits had to change drastically, I'm much more mindful of how I spend, but my mental health has significantly improved. I couldn't imagine myself with that life anymore, and realized reality is mine to create. Edit: Definitely should've done this with therapy, though. Hahaha there were a lot of mental breakdowns like two months ago.

dude congrats!! that's so funny we both quit in March lol. it takes a lot of courage to step away from a well paying job but I think our mental health and happiness is so much more important, although not having a steady income is definitely hard 😅 it's awesome that you were able to prioritize yourself and your mental health 🙌 I love what you said "reality is mine to create" - I resonate with that so much.

Good for you! It's really cool that you are sharing your unfolding process. You mentioned you have (had) social anxiety, so making a video like this one takes courage.

yes thank you for saying that! 💕 I feel like challenging myself to do things like make youtube videos is helping me to overcome the social anxiety, but it took a lot for me to get to this point

So brave of you to take the steps and be so honest. Your mental health is always the most important thing I keep both fingers crossed that everything works out exactly as you want it to!

I feel you in the part of sparing as much as money as possible to live at least 1 year. I have 4 hours of transportation to school every day, and 2 for my work, and it's so bad to have no possibility or anything, except sparing everything possible and waiting for the time of "It's my year now" and starting to do jobs that's might not pay much at first, but the freedom we gain trough freelance is worth more than that!
@jenwebbcreates
@jenwebbcreates 3 месяца назад
wow that is a lot of time to spend on transportation! 😩 it's so great when you have that vision of freedom, it gives you purpose to help push you through the work (and commuting to work) that you don't want to do. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel! good luck, you'll get there!

Wow! This is so encouraging. I want to take a 6 to 12 month sabbatical from work. Of course my job is NOT going to pay for this. My plan is to sell my home next summer and hopefully with some of the proceeds, I can take a break from working to figure things out. I am a candle maker and will be learning how to make soap too. I am going to try to teach myself how to build my own square space website in Dec. I hope to have this all figured out before summer. Wish me luck. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 and I wish you all the best too❤.

You have bigger "balls" than most. I am 38 and want to quit but i cant.

It's never too late, but I do believe it gets harder as we get older. not only with the increasing number of responsibilities but also the longer you do something the harder it is to change. I quit when I was 32, but I saw someone just left a comment on my recent "I quit my job a year ago" video - they worked in corporate for 24 years before they decided to pursue a doctorate and start their own business. lots of interesting stories from people in the comments on that video.

@@jenwebbcreates Can you link this video? I saw so many videos on quitting and not sure I'll be able to find the right one. I do agree it gets harder to quit as you get older and more senior in your career. Right now, I would be walking away from 200k+ fully remote job and that's what holds me back. It's not easy to find a fully remote job that pays over 200k in this economy now and I feel like I might regret walking away from it. But it kills my soul a little every day. I plan to travel a bit this year and see if that helps but I am at my breaking point and extremely unhappy. I wish they would lay me off but I don't see that happening this year.

@@adammorra3813 I feel you. when I quit I had just gotten a raise, I wasn't making quite what you are but I think it was around $130k, and in the end it was almost fully remote. it's so scary and I hope I don't end up regretting it 😬here is the video I was talking about: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ds-Mn4_KTAc.htmlsi=vxumvXd1YteZ6s2p wishing you all the best whatever you decide!
