I know this isn’t your normal content, but I would love to see a video that shows off your speaking skills in your highest level language or whatever language you prefer. A video to basically show the result of your methods

If you join Professor Arguelles' language academy, you can find me speaking various languages in there every week!

It's strange that most youtube polyglots don't do that.

As a Romanian, thank you for not forgetting us in your upcoming book!!! Yeah, it's always very, very disappointing to us Romanians to see us forgotten when at least 30 plus million people speak this language worldwide (I'm a Romanian in Australia and teaching my kids here Romanian), it's always underestimated just how many people speak Romanian in official papers, they don't include the fact that at least 10 million Romanians left Romania since Communism fell and continued with it abroad in all corners of the world... plus I think it's a really pretty language! Once you get into it, most people fall in love with the sound of it... anyway lots of love for not forgetting us!! 😊❤❤❤💛💛💛💛💙💙💙💙

By the way, I bought your Scandanavian languages comparative book. I already knew some Swedish and after going through your book it made me less scared to tackle the other languages so I'm happy to report that I'm currently reading my first Norwegian novel on Lingq! That comparative system really works! It gave me a quick overview so I had a quick comparison to Swedish, it worked like a super fast crash course for me, and got me painlessly into Norwegian 😊

Hi Carmen, yes, I knew I had to include Romanian in the comparative grammar. Everyone seems to ignore Romanian because it's a bit more different from the other Romance languages due to having a neuter gender and still having cases, but I wanted to make sure I included it for comparison's sake. It complicated things but I think it was well worth it! Thank you for buying my Scandinavian comparative grammar, I am glad to hear it's helping you already :) Hope you enjoy Norwegian and keep up the studying!

I’m currently choosing to learn Arabic, Hebrew, Swahili, Amharic, and Somali. I’m also interested in Aramaic.
@RobbieKunz
@RobbieKunz День назад
Wow, great choices! Arabic, Hebrew, Amharic and Aramaic are all related. Swahili and Somali are both influenced by Arabic I believe so you got some crossover for all of them. Keep up the good work!

The largest number of languages I was ever able to study effectively was 5, but that was when I lived alone and had more control over my own time. Now I just study 3: Spanish, German and Kurdish (Kurmanji). Your book on Norwegian, Swedish and Danish sounds interesting. I know Norwegian and understand the others somewhat, but it would be interesting to compare them and maybe improve my knowledge of Swedish and Danish. Spoken Danish is a bit difficult to understand.

Kurdish sounds very interesting! Yes, since you are interested in comparing the Scandinavian languages, the book is perfect for you. Pick up a copy on Amazon: a.co/d/a4hjccG - keep up your studies!

My Latin ability is steadily getting more and more advanced. My (Ancient) Greek is quite weak but I'm making consistent progress at least. Very eager to get started on French and German, most likely in that order, and most likely when I've made it through my current stack of Latin books.
@RobbieKunz
@RobbieKunz День назад
Good to hear your Latin is improving. Studying any language will help you study the others down the road. Also, French and German grammar is a lot less complicated than Latin and Ancient Greek so should be a breeze when you get around to them!

I am currently studying 2 and will add 2 more in 2025. A little too busy currently to add another but for now Spanish and French and 2025 German and Italian
@RobbieKunz

Great choices. Italian won't be too difficult if you have Spanish and French under your belt!

Hi Robbie! again i'm really so glad to find your videos and you are really motivating for me. sometimes I feel so lost and cnofused with the language learning or I'm not making progress. but yes, again, really great that you learn Sanskrit. and whereabouts are you residing now? again it would be so cool to meet you in 'real life' and talk about languages!

PS I'm in Korea now, and let me tell you it's the hardest language for a number of reasons but that's just me personally. do you like korean culture? that is a motivator to learn it of course.
@RobbieKunz

I live in Philadelphia. I do like Korean culture but I find human connection more motivating than culture alone. DM me on IG if you want to talk (link to profile in description).

Are the flashcards in Anki somehow better than the ones in Lingq with regard to spaced reputation? Is that why you export the Arabic to Anki instead of just using the flashcards in Lingq?
@RobbieKunz
@RobbieKunz 2 дня назад
I don't have a lot of experience with LingQ's flashcards. I like Anki's FSRS feature which optimizes the intervals of the algorithm based on your own data from doing flashcards in Anki as opposed to an algorithm that may or may not be optimized. I'd have to look into LingQ to see what algorithm they are using to say for sure. Do you know?
@quentin7273
@quentin7273 2 дня назад
@@RobbieKunz I’m not sure. LingQ flashcards are not as customizable, but of course they both do spaced repetition based on the familiarity score you give each card. I guess I need to just A B test and see what’s what. I’m not super familiar with Anki.

HI Robbie, do you know what Xiaomas list of phrases is? I've been thinking about doing exactly this too, but... ADHD... I keep getting distracted 😅
@RobbieKunz
@RobbieKunz День назад
I don't know what his phrases are exactly but you can probably come up with your own list pretty easily by imagining the types of conversations you're likely to have. For example, if you go to a store... "How much is this?", "I want that", "Do you have...?", "Thank you", "I like your shirt".

I was talking to my friend one day and she told me she was Chinese but didn't speak Mandarin. When I asked which language, she said she spoke Teochew. I was surprised but then remembered my longtime online friend also spoke Teochew. I thought, wow, two of my good friends speak Teochew, this must be fate. I need to start learning it!
