Andor stands out as the darkest and most tragic installment in the Star Wars series. While some argue that it deviates from the traditional essence of Star Wars, this video delves into the reasons why such perspectives may be misguided...

I don't get when people say it doesn't feel like star wars. To me it's insanely star wars, it's so incredibly true to the themes of the OT and expands on it, it's also stays true to the 70s futurism elements of the OT which I think rogue one and andor are the only two ST projects to succeed in replicating it, mandalorian does it okay but fails when it comes to costumes, hair and makeup.

I think Andor is for the Star Wars fan that has grown up. Not totally adult TV like a HBO production, but certainly more mature than the rest of the shows in its universe, not just in tone but in the visual and audio too. I also think that if you don't like it, and also don't like the other shows either, then you'll never be happy with anything else they produce in the modern era. Personally, I'd like to see this approach to the Jedi and Sith at some point too with lightsabre wounds actually having consequences.

This series shows the world that you don't need to use Legacy-charecters and well-known intellectual property to create a good story: the writting, the acting, the cast, the cinematography, the set design all contribute to make the audience engaged and to pay attention to details. Here's an example: that discarded Imperial Starpath Unit left behind in the wherehouse in episode three in any other show would have likely never be mentioned or seen again. But we see it being presented to Colonel Yularen as part of Dedra's investigation in relation to her Axis lead. That alone is good storytelling for me!

I always have a habit of noticing small details like in my little example from before. I would like to hope that the future second season planned for the series will continue on this same path.

The case against andor is that some people are stupid and that is fine, they can watch and enjoy Asoka and whatever Dave is doing. Plenty of room for both.

Star Wars is confusing, because it face-level presents as sci-fi, but it's really a space fantasy. It's lore is endless and winding, tens of thousands of years worth of history and intricate details. Andor adds to the worldbuilding of Star Wars in a way that no other visual piece of Star Wars media has been able to do outside of very long running animated tv shows, and pretties it up in an artistic and sophisticated delivery. Andor added so much more lore to the Star Wars universe for me than any other competitor, while still being the most artistic, best written, most dramatic and most gripping. It's crazy, because so much star wars media is so reliant on it's IP. Andor is the COMPLETE opposite. What makes it so refreshing is the fact that it doesn't lean on a popular IP for it's support but actually leans on just good fucking writing and acting, and STILL is better Star Wars than the content that abuses for views.

Well made video! And it is my favorite Star Wars thing that has come out since Disney acquired it. I fell in love with it in the first few minutes when I could feel the dark realistic tone that the show would have and each episode after made me love it more and more. I understand for some it is boring. But it must be said that in the age of the internet, instant gratification is what people want. People like Star Wars Theory need the constant fighting and cameos and crazy moments. In that regard, yes, Andor is slow. But every moment and every action in Andor has weight and meaning and that is why I think it is such a good show.

Andor -> Rogue One -> OT. Truly is the pinnacle of Star Wars.

Oh god I heard this tired argument so many times already when it came out. So what, Rogue One is "not SW" too then? Cuz in case people forgot, it is also a grittier take where everybody dies. Or maybe the prequels aren't SW, or the shows or cartoons. Nobody said SW has to be one specific thing or feel or hero or topic or director or actor...At the end of the day, what people will remember, and what will define what they call SW, are the ones with quality.

Nice video. I enjoyed your analysis. I put Andor up with Chernobyl (interesting it also shares at least two actors) as my two favourite pieces of TV ever. It takes Rogue One (my favourite Star Wars film) and creates a breathtaking and very real feeling universe. It was for me perfect in every way. It was art as well as entertainment. Theory is the one being pretentious about it. It also houldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as other recent Disney efforts. I'm kinda fine with your take that it isn't part of Star Wars. Star Wars has been killed by Kennedy. Got a sub. Looking forward to more from you.

Andor was a masterpiece. A bit too slow in the first 2 episodes, but still good. It sets the mood immediately with the grandiose killing of the officers. Andor is my favorite SW media of all time, surpassing the OT by volumes. I'd wish all of SW serious media were done like Andor. Imagine a Thrawn Trilogy with that level of dedication and plot! Or even a movie about Sith vs Jedi. Like you said, this could have been a fantastic non-SW series. We got in SW, we were blessed. Hopefully we'll get a great Season 2 too.

While I don’t agree with the conclusions. I still think this was a pretty good video. Andor is a great piece of art to be debated.

Andor is SW. It is the SW that so many want. But I don't know if disney can afford it. They don't want Game of Thrones Starwars. They want the friday night movie single event.

There will be meddling based on season one's viewing statistics. I also wouldn't be surprised if the Acolyte shitshow causes Disney to abort a season two of Andor out of panic.

This show could have been in any major SciFi franchise. As a SciFi show, its 8,5/9, as a SW show its 7.

No it should not be called star wars as it's nothing like star wars and it's boring it's more like watching dr who

Andor isn’t boring imo, but your very close to understanding it’s roots: it’s heavily influenced by 70s Dr Who’s edgier, darker sibling, Blake’s 7.

Personally I found 80% of Andor slow and annoying. It’s one thing to slowly build up a story but this was simply boring.
