Casati was robbed in my book. People say Andrea went higher, well he didnt just look at their woo profiles. Andreas highest was 18 meters and casatis was 17,8 meter but Casatis average jump was higher, and he executed way more jumps than Andrea with more extreme kite angles. If I was a conspiracy theorist I would say that someone probably bought the judges.

I heard on "beach radio" that Duotone was "suggesting" to some shopkeepers that who "dares" to sell Harlem Dacron kites will lose all the discounts available at today with Duotone future's purchase..🥶 The Godfather movies comes to my mind. Maybe this has to do something with the embarrassing end result I saw in this Kota? Lorenzo was clearly and objectively onto another planet compared to Andrea, I think this was very evident for everyone, so why is ended this way ?

Lorenzo was objectively on another level and didn't deserve to be robbed. Speaking on the beach, many are now saying that there is a clique of power out there subjected to Duotone and Andrea Principi, who HAD to win this Kota for 100 reasons. And the information (disinformation) is always with him and Duotone unfortunately. Noone dares to go against publically. Adrian is subjugated to Andrea and totally subjected to power, to the point that he tries in every way in Kitesurf 365 to silence the controversy over the scandalous result of Kota, without obviously ever going into the merits on a technical level, something that we expected from his competence. Colin does not have the courage to take an official position against the power system that stole Lorenzo's well-deserved title, even if at least, I give him credit, he tries to give us at least a semi-technical analysis that is objective and not subjective like Adrian. Kiteforum should be a place where we should talk about kitesurfing on a technical level. It was curious to see that when I raised doubts about Principi's victory, almost all the comments were of hilarity, mockery, minimisation, attempts to close my uncomfortable position as quickly as possible, without obviously ever going into the merits of the technique. In the end they censored and banned me. Proud and happy to have been inconvenienced and expelled. None of all of them ever dared to say that Lorenzo had dominated last year's Kota, with the same kites as Andrea, going muuuch higher than him and that Andrea had an incredible season only because Lorenzo no longer had a decent kite. Just look at what he did with Harlem in just 1 month... The judges never took official positions or tried to explain, also because I think it was embarrassing. Sad to realize that in 2023 still lack the courage and will to freely express our opinion! In a free world, this shouldn't be the case. The power of money ! It simply DISGUST me to read in some posts that Duotone is "advising" shopkeepers not to "dare" to sell Harlem kites otherwise, the shopkeepers who will do , so will lose all their discounts with Duotone...worse than Mafia... but no one talks about it of course, and indeed a brand that is acting in a dominant position of abuse, is continually and excessively praised. Long live KING Lorenzo Casati, revolutionary rider of immense talent, who showed the whole world, how a small unknown brand deserved to win the Kota, by creating a kite with him in less than 1 month of work and so few money... Lorenzo you are the CHE GUEVARA of kiting, the DON QUIXOTE of all of us, the living hope that in the world there is still room for these beautiful dreams, against the abuse of power of the God of money!

Andrea jumps 14.8 meters in the final, Lorenzo 13.9 meters, but with a UNIVERSE difference in technical diversity, commitment, radicality at unhuman levels, never seen before in the history of kiting. Andrea's show seems old, already seen and pathetically out of the power zones. Andrea got endless 9's and Lorenzo NOT 1 !!! We are all speechless. Judges later try to justify patehetically their disaster with "Kota is 70% height, that's why Andrea won"🤣🤣🤣 A real JOKE!!!! Those same judges who gave higher marks to Jacobs who jumped 12 meters while Overbeek +20 meters... Why wasn't that assumption valid when Casati jumped 14 meters and Overbeek + 20m but Casati's scoring muuuch higher than Jamie? A scandal to see that Lorenzo was robbed in such way. There was something else hidden going on under ?

9.16 Andrea "Contra kiteloop" , with embarrassment, was improperly called S-Loop ( huuuge tech difference on a technical level !!! ) , but when Lorenzo made the wildiest ever PROPER REAL S-LOOP , deserving +10 , he was heavily underscored 8+, " . Unreal ! And... Andrea's doubles "downloop/helilloop" with infinite delay were called inappropriately double "kiteloop/contraloop" but scoring much higher 😁 Really anyone of the judges wasn't "able" to see the incredible delay Andrea was pushing the second loop and rewarded him while penalising Lorenzo with the "excuse" of less height (Woo showed not so much height difference) ? So why didn't win Jeremy or Jamie that was goin incredibly much higher than the others ? Many of us know how to do heliloops or downloops but how many of us really know how to maker proper kite/contra goin under real power while looping ? Really 2 or 3 mt more in Andrea height performance worthed such high rates ? Cause Lorenzo's show was a wild Lion's one and Andrea's a scared little lamb...the judges are all very competent, it is difficult not to support the theory that everything had already been decided beforehand...Lorenzo deserved his second title, plenty too

Both of them rode extremely well through whole competition so it was hard choice for the judges, I am big fun of both guys. Although my impression was that Andrea couldn’t handle the pressure in some heats (lots of body dragging) and Lorenzo was just executing it all the time. In the finale he was throwing almost only doubles (flawlessly) with sick kite angles. I don’t think anyone is robbed here, both guys deserve to win, but it was surprising to see scores. I remember Janek losing to Joshua due to lack of extremity. I feel like judging criteria are changing every year. Nonetheless huuuuge respect for both riders, they earned it!

I have no certainties, I just wonder naively if Luke Lorenzo Skywalker Dacron Unknow brand could really win against the millionaire Empire Darth Vader Duotone Aluula, just as now when all the kite brands are investing tens of millions in it. IMO there is a truly embarrassing technical and show gulf between Lorenzo's performance and Andrea's. Seeing that Andrea even wins, and with more than 2 points behind, taking 3 scores +9 and Lorenzo not even 1, after Lorenzo showed the most exciting and WILDEST SHOW ever seen before in the entire history of kitesurfing, is something truly profoundly disturbing. It's a shame, because Lorenzo's tale should have had the happy ending it deserved, first of all for what we saw in Kota, but also for the humility, seriousness and education that Lorenzo always gift us with his infinite smiles that open up hearts. Unfortunately seems like happy endings only happen in movies and novels, not in world of money

I was on the beach for the final. The public was excited for Lorenzo but colder for Andrea. The commentators the same. I saw Lorenzo live clearly much much better than Andrea. I have friend knowing athlets and he said me all athlets saw easily winner Lorenzo, like they saw Liam or Cohan at Megaloop insteadt than Andrea. I think the final result is the biggest theft seen in a kiting competition ever. How can you not see that everything was already decided beforehand? Colin why u don't listen all riders there and ask them what was the real results in their opinion ? Judges are ruining the kite evolution that Lorenzo showed, or Lorenzo is just too much forward for them ? In the end is everything about money unfortunately
@Alexomator
@Alexomator 7 месяцев назад
The broken down technical difference between a downloop and a kiteloop is that a kiteloop accelerates you forward. Andrea is a great person, a great rider, a great competitor. Yet his 2nd loop in his scored doubleloops does not pull him forward. As you can clearly see his momentum is his free fall, there is no further acceleration forward, thus it´s not a double loop. I do not know why and how the judges let this slide through. I won´t take a guess here or start a conspiracy. I´d like to know how they came towards their scoring and why they scored this a doubleloop. Colin, you call yourself "the media of kiteboarding", I kindly ask you to investigate and try to find an answer.

How would the 2023 season have gone if Lorenzo had at least had the same kites as Andrea? And with those of now??? Would Andrea really have made the Trilogy? Andrea is strong, but many forget that at last year's Kota Lorenzo gave him an embarrassing gap by having the exact same kite as Andrea... Then we know how Lorenzo was in huge difficulty with Cabrinha's kites, but here strangely no one was talking about Lorenzo having a Fiat 500 and Andrea a Ferrari, everyone just celebrating Andrea because he was winning easily vs Lorenzo without kites.... So in the meantime Andrea becomes the absolute winner and the strongest in everyone's mind, only because Lorenzo had a kite that jumps much less and doesnt turn to the limit that he's forced to enter the water at the GKA final (where he can still challenge for the world title) with a 5 (while the others use a 6 or a 7 even though they weigh much less than him) because his Nitro 6 can't even do doubles. Lorenzo in the GKA final in Tarifa does not exceed 10 meters in height and loses the GKA title, but still no one talks about Lorenzo's difficulties with those shit gears, all still celebrating Andrea's only. In the end Lorenzo decides that it's too much, he leaves Cabrinha who doesn't evolve, giving up many races (including the Megaloop) and shows everyone at Kota 2023 how he was the strongest last year, clearly and without any dispute, and he is still today the strongest in 2023 as soon as he had a decent kite in his hands like now. But at what point are the judges' minds entirely focused on Andrea's victories and no one feels like denying him the Trilogy. Lorenzo is so far ahead that it hasn't been understood, this is the problem... what Lorenzo did in 2022 was copied badly by many athletes in Kota 2023, after 1 year. What Lorenzo is doing now is something that NO ONE else, not even Andrea, shows, there must be a reason, right? I was in Tartifa yesterday and saw the show of these 2 incredible guys. Lorenzo was INCREDIBLY BETTER than Andrea, who however remains the only one who can get close to him and try to compete with Lorenz's superior class. Everyone else has an embarrassing delay. Judges, please update because this year was the most embarrassing Kota ever in terms of judging. Too much to not think about anything else...

First things first, the final was incredible, and there’s a case for all three riders being legit winners IMO... but the scoring was, as always, quite confusing. I'm surprised there was no mention that the height and kite angles would certainly have a lot to do with the kites being ridden as well. Lorenzo was hitting the kickers better for elevation but the Harlem just doesn't seem to have the lift of the evo dlab, although it does loop faster/tighter so Lorenzo did have an advantage in terms of what he could do with the kites position during tricks. On the beach in real-time, the height difference was clearly in Andreas favour, but his kite angle was not super impressive even seeing it live, and now watching it back it does feel even more like Lorenzo got robbed based on what the criteria was supposed to be... we'd likely see a different result if they swapped kites... An interesting exercise would be to get all the semi/quarter-finalists to judge the final trick for trick, based on what they thought the criteria was...

@@Pauman76 I highly doubt that brand plays a factor. When you’re there the energy is unreal and everything is happening so fast in those heats, I’d say it’s more likely they get caught up in that factor, every comp there is a round or two that personal style preferences seem to win, but for the most part it’s fairly accurate.

Judges don't do double loops, so they don't know how to evaluate them correctly because they don't understand the dynamics on their bones. When one of them tryed to not delay the second turn that's what's happened ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fk8GYmeY0pc.html. I am sure in that moment he realised why Lorenzo deserved more . Colin you should ask the athletes WHO they thought was the real winner, not only here but also for Megaloop. When Andrea takes off the table for these judges it was like when a woman with big breasts undresses... everything else doesn't count for them anymore, despite the kite is totally out of power zone, so is not pulling , and everyone of these riders is able to make a boardoff out from power zones... It's a shame that Janek lost to Joshua exactly because at that moment the judges seemed to understand the difficulty of going powerful at height. Other judges, other witnesses. But the most important kite competition in the world deserved a completely different winner. Lorenzo did the TRUE REAL ONLY one man Show, and he was so far ahead, as he had been the year before, that the judges didn't even understand it? Or, as someone writes, was everything already written and they wanted to artificially create that gap in the scores, absurd and incredible, precisely to protect themselves from any possible future controversy and dispute? What seems clear to me is that his second consecutive Kota was stolen from Lorenzo, and he deserved it all and much more than Andrea

I talk as ex pro rider, still passionate. Woo showed that highest Principi's jump was 18,0 mt , and Casati’s 17,8. There was from 1 to 2 meters of more medium height for Andrea in all jumps. Only once 3 meters. So I would leave aside height as a real key factor in my judgment, because given the heights of Burlando and Overbeek who jumped probably 7-8 meters more than others, it was clear that this Kota was everything but NOT Height 70% as declared when judges said that Principi won final due to his considerable greater heights. And you’ll understand how everything is already confused here in the used score system. 3 Top Tricks Principi 1- 9.74 Double front double contra tic tac. With 1 top quite high turn far from power zones and second downloop turn . Incredible to score so much on a maneuver like this with the kite not only not going to full power on the first loop but even delaying the second lap and almost quite doing a downloop ! Delaying 2nd turn make all easier , for many reasons. Like staying far from power zones. 2- 9.42 Boogie s-Loop Board off inverted - Apart from the fact that they invented the inverted one because it was missing, but here too the second lap was very high so a downloop and Lewis himself declared it live without placing any emphasis on the trick , very disappointed indeed. And commentators all were all incredibly surprised to discover that this scored 9.42 in the end. We are always talking about the same thing since long in Gka 2023. When Principi takes the board out of power zones the judges don't understand it or pretend not to see it that’s not a key factor if the kite is far from power zones. 3- 9.19 S-Loop board off. Always very late, returning the kite very high and taking the board out of the power zones. The movement of the kite is hardly called S-Loop due to how high it rises, so much so that many have called it " kiteloop contra board off and not S-loop". Anyway very very far from Casati’s lines in the same trick, but without board off. 3 Top Trick Casati 1- 8.93. Triple back double loop boardoff , with kite angles of around +30 degrees in power compared to Principi's doubles and above all without delay between 1 and 2 loops, therefore without ever letting the kite go up to take advantage on the second loop. If you don't delay the second lap it means that the kite is very low in power, precisely because you don't use the trick of making it go higher to cheat on second turn. And here a good part of the controversy arises because Casati makes all the trick in full power zones, sort of not cheating. A universe difference of greater technical difficulty , difficult to do while the kite is pushing low than if you are dangling underneath passively with the kite high. And Casati, on this trick worthing at least 9.50 or 9.75, gets only 8.93. Incredible scandal, for those who understand kiting, to see how they overscore Principi with his out of power zones board offs and how they underscore Casati with kite angles of +30 or more degrees in full power! 1-2 mt more height will never cover this huge tech difference. 2-- S-Loop 8.74- The most radical in the history of kiting, never seen by anyone before, which pulled the screaming commentators out of their chairs , paid incredibly only 8.74. After the race riders told Casati that this trick was worth a full 10. But the judges incredibly give 3 times 9 to those who practically never go there in power zones, and delay the second laps... If you understand kiting this is also heresy. 1 or 2 meters more height will never pay for life + 30 or more degrees lower kite ! 3- 8.86 Back roll s-loop late back to blind (butt check) . He would have gotten a 10 for sure , but he was forced already to start to force the trick to recover the gap created by judges. But competent people noted that another trick by Casati, his , "Boogie tic tac double loop", was done in an incredible low power zone, and with the commentators jumping out of their chairs on commentary and declaring "I can 't believe , this will score soooo big”, but again Casati is incredibly underscored also here with an absurd 8.54...why ?? In some ways this is the trick that the judges paid 9.74 to Principi but with the difference that there is 1 less turn of the body and that Casati does the double kiteloop and Andrea does the double Contra. But Casati's angles in the maneuver are crazy compared to Andrea's ones, and the judges actually payed +1.20 to Andrea who is more far out from power zones, so for only 1 more rotation away from the power, respect to Casati’s same trick ?. So Overbeek's 5 rotations at 20 meters deserved 10 if 1 more rotation is the key factor for such different scores more....but as also the kite angle is important, Overbeek was out. So why Casati is being underscored here also ? This is the problem with the whole heat. Principi overscored and Casati underscored in name of few height less but with incredible more commitment. If no other rider were going as powerful as Casati there must be a technical reason that “escaped” to judges or all was decided before ? That's the main point. Casati was forced to force the snakes due to the embarrassing gap that the judges created for him. But he should have won even without forcing the snakes if the judges hadn't made those scores incredibly inflated for Principi and deflated for Casati. The athletes all think like this , to the point that I had a friend down in the paddock and he told me that in fact almost no one of them went to the debriefing with the judges as protest. Cause these kind of complains started in Gka already and never solved in next events. Judges say in skipper's metting want commitment and will never rewards double delayed or too far from power zones, but in the end they always pay off Principi when take out the board , no matter of the commitment and power zones. But what’s more heavy even was Principi ultimately gets 9.20 in Overall Impression and Casati 8.64, this puts the icing on the cake and makes you understand how everything was strange to think that was already decided ? Cause this score is even more crazy than the others. Casati made 2 jumps to the right, S_loop and Double Loop to give variety on both sides, not Andrea the same tricks, but remember that the overall score also rewards in a high percentage INNOVATION, SHOW, COMMITMENT! Casati gave the best show ever at Kota, with a radicality never seen before in a comp, an astonishing innovation , pure wild . Principi gave , in comparison to Casati’s one so not globally, an "older" show, without 50% of his commitment and with less variety than Casati's heat, endlessly repeating the contras so much so that Lewis wonders on air why Principi only continues to do contras... final joke Principi outpaces Casati even in the Overall impression… Who learned to do low kiteloops instead of downloops , and doubles without delays, understoodd why 1 or 3 meters less height really had nothing to do with what Casati showed, for the first time, in a race. I saw only Vlugt and Jacobs not too far from Casati’s lines. I don’t think all was decided before really, I just suppose the show of Casati wasn’t understood in his diversity, exactly underevaluated for the not comphension of the big difference in kite angles . Otherwise I have to think about psychological subjection for the Trilogy.

The absurd gap in scores created by the judges is without any technical basis. 2 meters more height cannot cover +40 degrees of greater loop angles of Casati and a totally different radicality, not even to mention the delays in Andrea's loops. For people who hold the opinion that he is overscored because of his affiliation with Dutone can anyone tell me how Andrea scores when he is competing against his Duotone teammates? I believe he went against his teammate in the semi-final and possibly in round 2? Correct me if I’m wrong. Are other Duotone athletes over scored in their heats against other athletes or is this bias only applicable to Andrea? I wonder if the judge’s alleged bias isn’t because of Dutone, but because of the general hype that comes with being declared the new face of the sport and all the talk surrounding The Trilogy. It would be an interesting sports psychology study for sure.

I really do like Andrea but in my opinion Lorenzo deserved it more cause as other professional riders were saying, Lorenzo went more radical and bigger than Andrea. But at the end it is up to the judges and the different styles of the riders... we will see next time and therefore I personally think that Lorenzo will take the title once again

Great comparison. Sadly I think kitesurfing is a lot more stress on the body so unlikely we will see elite kitesurfers last as long as Nadal.

Andrea was unbeatable this year, congrads to the new king for a well deserved win in KOTA to complete the trilogy. Lorenzo also looked sick on his new kite, he is looking good for next year. Cant wait to see these boys sending it big in the next big air event.

This final didn't make any excitement like last year. I didn't even see why they scoreboards were hitting 9 where it looks pretty much same as other sessions.

Andrea wanted to win and showed it on the water, off the water. He injected more energy in KOTA than anyone else. That for sure distorted the playing field. But what if Lorenzo landed one of the double kite loop to blinds ... ?

I understand that Andrea won but still... He knows how to have better angles on those doubles. They wanted Andrea to win for the story of it. Anyway insane event and final and great riding from everyone. If jeremy had a proper kite for doubles he could also have been very dangerous ! Good job to andrea 👑

its funny looking at the comments - 'massive difference of scores' it was 0.5 points per trick. others about the heights, Lorenzo didn't land his biggest jumps . also didn't land his best tricks clean. there's no way North/Mystic sponsored KOTA planned before hand for Andrea on Duotone/Ion to win, come on guys! Lorenzo is even using Mystic Everyone must agree that if Lorenzo landed his 3 best tricks clean then yes he would of won, but he didn't land them clean which resulted in lower scores and a lower impression score and he still came 2nd. lets not forget Jeremy was going huge doing big tricks landing clean and Lorenzo beat him even though he butt checked his best tricks. Andrea was going as high as Jeremy but more technical and landed all his top tricks clean which is why he scored higher than Jeremy and also higher than Lorenzo. Simple if Lorenzo had landed his 3 big tricks cleanly he would of won= No Conspiracy 😀

The unanswered points are unfortunately much deeper Because such a small additional height of 1-2 m of Andrea's mattered much more than the +30° lower angles of Lorenzo's kite, when height is never counted first in previous heats? And Jeremy's scores are proof of this. He was going much higher than both of them but he never scored well. So double loops matters, a lot, even if they are much much lower heights. We also saw this assumption it in the Lorenzo vs. Jamie heat when Jamie jumped +7 meters compared to Lorenzo and lost in the end by +5 points but also in Marc Vs Jamie heat.... In final Andrea does incredibly delayed downloops and heliloops, but they score much more than Lorenzo's own ones in the full power proper crazy zones. Judges justify this with height. But Woo proved that the height difference is ridiculous, only 1-2 meters more for Andrea. In all day of Kota, if only Lorenzo went so hard in the power zones and no other rider did it, should means something, right? Everyoone of them can go higher of couple of meters, but if anyone can make the lines of Lorenzo , means something. So why let win Andrea with downloop and heliloops incredibly overscored and downscoring incredibly the lines of Lorenzo? For 1 or 2 mt height ? No sense ! All athlets also were all for Lorenzo's victory. This should means something also. Cheers🤙

Duotone blackmailing shopkepers Vs Harlem (so vs Lorenzo) is the best concrete proof u should think of ...like Aluula million dollars empire Vs. poor Dacron Harlem also is a good point connected to maybe think deeply...Lorenzo's show was already onto the next level compared to the one of Andrea, also without landing his bombs...

@@Pedro_kiter Andrea scored 1 point more than Jeremy for doing extra kiteloop and rotation. He scored 1 point more than Lorenzo even though Lorenzo butt checked the landing. If Lorenzo landed clean on those moves he would have scored more than Andrea and won!

@@Robert-wy2kethis is not blackmail it normal that if you are exclusive to a brand you get more discount. So if they currently only sell Duotone and get say 20% discount then yes if they stock Harlem they will lose discount. It’s part of the agreement they sign when take on the brand, not blackmail as it was in place before Harlem was even a company !

Lorenzo deserved to win with the jumps he landed, which were severely underscored. 1 or 2 meters more heigh Andrea is not worth never the many more angles of power than Lorenzo's kite. It's like as if one wins a surfing competition by not going vertical into the wave's lip but make the wave enter in diagonal...these were Andrea overscored downloop/heliloop @@pastyadventures

Probably the worst take I have ever seen from Colin. Cherypicking jump heigths and comparing them? Whut? Also, Lorenzos attitute and dedication can easily match that of Andrea imho, so why talk about this 3 minutes straight?

It’s called “king of the air” not “king of the low kite angle” so doesn’t seem crazy to me that they consider height to be very important.

if u think this, it should have won Overbeek or Burlando. Overbeek was jumping 6-7 higher than Lorenzo but Lorenzo won easily with a big gap. This means something. The point is...how is possible to justify 1-2 meters more of Andrea Vs. +30-40 degrees lower kite angle of Lorenzo with such differences in scores ? Why suddendly in the final 1-2 meters more becomed so important when in previous heats weren't at all ?
