Liverpool were a special attacking breed under Klopp. What Slot has done is sacrificed a bit of attacking, for a better defence. That defence now is the best in the league 😅
@@kloppsippingvarsenaltears2789 8 games in, 30 to go. So yes, it is a bit too soon to say that. The only rattled comment here is yours mate because you can't take that someone disagreed with such sweeping statement after just 8 games.
@user-OfficialMiles4602 not only is it that, this video is available in multiple other countries with their own pl rights owners. So they don't show clips to avoid getting sued
Hell no as much as I love klopp it was time for a change last season you could see him on the touchline just drained and out of his game. Slot's done an absolute revelation with this Liverpool side and I'm confident we're gonna win trophies with this man not to mention the defensive stability he added which I never saw us having with klopp
Spot on and i never thought i’d say this but im actually glad we have slot right now and i wouldn’t swap him for Klopp atleast not the klopp of last season, not just the energy thing but think how many games went down to the last minute then we got a late winner, under slot every game we’ve won we’ve been winning by like the 60/70th minute so we can relax for the end, apart from forest of course, and in most cases we’re a goal or two up at half time so we can just enjoy the second half stress free
Agree 100%. On a more selfish note it was exhausting (but often also exhilarating) to follow Klopp's Liverpool. I needed a break and I love the calmness of Slot's Liverpool
Slot is doing well, but Klopp was a victim of circumstances last season. I think VVD in particular was not at his best, that's why teams used to score first and then they had to play catch up. Slot is benefiting from the fact that VVD needs to show up week in week out because of his contract situation.
As a Liverpool fan, I'll only be excited about our chances as title contenders if we are top of the league with 4 points ahead on match day 37. After last season's capitulations and the other years we fell short by just a point or two, I know better to be excited this early on.
@@Anomaly27 yes, until Pep leaves, which I hope it is after this season, City will always compete even when they're not in top form or are laden with injuries like they're this season.
Title contenders after 8 games? I'm a Liverpool fan but think it's too early to make that assumption. If they can carry this form into the next year then we can start talking about the title. However, can't deny Slot has had a brilliant start.
Do you not understand how football works? 8 games is a lot of games already, that’s 2 and a half months of premier league football and they’re top of the league
Gravenberch's heat map tells you alot about his favourite zone as an #8. Saw him occupy that zone during the internationals when he was deployed as an hybrid 8
One thing that is different from previous season is not everytime attackers are the one scoring goals Midfield is more solid and didn't give away goals Let's see✨
As a long-time fan, I'm glad to see a significant change in playing style from the Klopp era. Anyone could tell that the energetic and emotional style took a great chunk out of the players who must now find that they are using their eyes/brains much more than their hearts/legs. Slot's ability to solve most problems (except the game vs Forest) during the game itself through the closest player to the touch line (either number 6s) surpasses the Klopp-Lijnders-Krawietz axis that brought Liverpool so much joy in recent years, but at the expense of energy. The players were burnt out in the last season and a half and that led to declining performances, and a burnt-out Klopp as well. Having known Slot's tactical acumen being trained from his earliest playing days suggests that he is the real deal in the tactical sense. The players have also enjoyed the detailed instructions he gives to them, particularly the "dirty work" that Szoboslai has to do in his multiple roles, just short of perfection by not scoring too many goals. Please keep our 3 biggest players for another few years and success will come back. Walk on. Walk on with hope in your heart. The next trophy is within Slot's reach.
We need more videos like this for the fan to understand how important our players is. People do not realize how good is players like Jones or Szoboszlai. Their always have huge impacts on the pitch, but fans keep blaming them day in day out just because of some unsuccessful passes or mistakes. Not just Liverpool fans, but fans of every teams. They have to respect their team's players more.
What you can simply notice without deep analysis is Liverpool played more efficient while being less aggressive for 90 minutes compare to last season, that means players less likely get injured and the fact that Slot stick to his starting eleven, Jota finally get the trust he deserves, Gravenberch, Gakpo, Konate, Macca, even TAA are improved under Slot.
Gravenberch. What a player 🔥 he is engine for Liverpool this season. Szobo underrated because he do dirty job for Liverpool. Love him when off the ball.
But in all fairness Slot started with a brilliant, well disciplined team whereas Klopp started with a mediocre team in 8th place. So it was easier for Slot to be successful so early than it was for Klopp.
Liverpool fan here, I won't swap Klopp in, because he want to rest and has more time with his family. I love him enough to understand and let he does what he want.
Dude Klopp's Liverpool were top of the league the first half of last year and were favorites to win all the way till April. Klopp's Liverpool generated the highest XG in all 5 major European leagues, but at the expense of an open defense with fullback high up the field and Trent inverted. I prefer our defense this year. Let's wait till after the coming run of difficult games before making decisions but I love Slot so far, but his bench is weak so fingers crossed we don't get injuries like the ones Klopp had to deal with.
Szoboszlai this season in general has been underwhelming when it comes to decision making and just all round play but his movement to make space for others is something u don’t really notice but he does it a lot, him being comfortable on the wing is a great asset cus idk how many times a game when salah gets the ball he makes that run in behind the fullback so salah can either play it to him or salah can drive into that right attacking mid position where he can play one of his cute passes or have a strike. Dom does need to work on his decision making because he’s so so talented and has the potential to be the next KDB but he needs to be consistent
Imagine what Slot will do in years 3 and 4 if this is what he does in the first quarter of year 1? His slow style, after 9 years of insanity, sometimes has me chewing the tv remote watching us, but I am slowly getting used to it😂😂 So no, I wouldn't swap him out. I want to see what he is capable of once he builds HIS team after VVD and Mo finish. This season, I will be overjoyed with top 4 and maybe a cup final, but I may well raise my aim if we carry on like this.
It is still early days and title talk is extremely premature. But, but, could we be potentially seeing a change of guard with City facing 115 charges, Pep potentially, possibly, most likely leaving City at the end of this season and Slot carrying on the good work of Klopp and taking Liverpool to a period of dominance????? We have a real good mix of experienced trophy winners in Alison, Trent, VVD, Robertson and Salah. Not only them but Macallister is a world cup and Copa America winner. We have several players in their peak years or just coming in to their peak years and an abundance of young talent already with 1st team experience and waiting in the wings. We also have quality players out on loan with one in particular who I believe could be one of the best midfielders of his generation in Bacjetic. Hopefully he can rediscover his pre injury form. It's looking good for LFC for several years to come!
I'm a Liverpool fan and I haven't seen that attacking flair under Slot much at all and im wondering if they can do that if they really need to. I know we couldn't against Forest and we have struggled a few times in games to create much. I know our defence is a lot better but it seems to have affected our attack. But I do know its still a work in progress under Slot and all these International breaks aren't helping at all.
The Slot/Klopp question is the most interesting for me as a 20+ year Liverpool fan. I have to go with Slot. How many times did Klopp teams go down 1-0 early, but end up winning 3/4/5 to 1? Slot has spent his fist months addressing the teams biggest liability, pressing hard and getting burned by an athletic player on a quick break. He’s CLEARY told his guys essentially “bust ass back to defend if you want to play in my team”. Seeing Salah, Nunez (and Trent😮) SPRINTING full out to stop a counter has stuck out to me. There were essentially no new transfers in, and this is basically the same team Klopp had last season. It’s a fascinating experiment. I think the final product of the Slot system is still being implemented, and having sorted out defending we’ll see the creative part come together over the next few months. In summary, as great as Klopp was I am seeing signs that Slot can have a higher ceiling for his end product tactically, once fully implemented.
It took you only 10 games to make that assessment and conclusion? Wow. You must be a borderline genius because that's not a big enough sample size. The man hasn't even completed a full season yet and you're putting him above Klopp?! Who built every fibre of the team Slot manages by the way. Wow.
@@zingisamahlasela Thanks buddy, love you too. It’s not a declaration of fact, but an opinion. There’s only been 10-12 games so yeah 👍 that’s my sample size
This is pure, unadulterated recency bias and also lazily incomplete an assessment of Klopp. Most of all ungratefully lacking in appearanciation of not only Klopp peak years but the corrective transitionary era leading to those peak years. Do us all a favour.
i would agree, which is crazy but it makes sense - this liverpool squad is part of klopp's "liverpool 2.0" rebuild which brought in more technical midfielders and wanted to focus on playing more football. but as good a manager as klopp is, i think its undeniable that possession football was never his thing, and now we have a guy who has studied and coached possession football and done very well all his life in slot, so its a no brainer really. the only part which makes this hard is the klopp mentality and personality - you just knew with him we could play any kind of football and still grind out results and win games when it mattered. but right now i like what im seeing from slot personality wise, so its not a big enough reason to pick klopp.
I think Slot still needs to sign another press resistant box to box midfielder to play with Gravenberch as a double pivot. Teams look to man-man press playing against Liverpool and it seems to be somewhat containing the true potential of Liverpool midfield.
Slot have improved Gravenberch by turning into one of the best DM in the league, Lucho now a scoring machine, Trent in his defending, and Nunez in his composure. All without any major new signings. Proper coach
He's got Trent to play Right Back! instead of going missing up the pitch and leaving a huge hole at right back for the center back and dm to try to cover which makes them look weak(and then you have people saying we need a RCB and "BETTER DM" when its not their fault. Its all caused by there not being any right back cos Trents gone wondering).. That is the major change. Its the main reason LFC conceded so few this season..
Prime Klopp got to a champions league final with karuis, Lovren and co, then went on to get 97 points and win the champions league the next season, the following season got 99 points, won the league, super cup and club World Cup, Slot has had a good start, but don’t compare the two
Congrats to JLA for getting your video posted on the Premier League youtube account! Great work, love your videos, love this little collaboration. Love it!
How to make a title contender: Step 1: Take over a title contender. Step 2: Don't change too much. Step 3: Have a gentle start to the fixture list. I kid, of course, being a Liverpool fan myself, but let's not get too carried away, eh?
Honestly, what fcng more evidence are you waiting for? This team was top with 10 games left. Stop boring everyone with your 'ohh let's be ensible and wait' nonsense.
Not at all Klopp is a God and a hero for Liverpool but with what Slot is doing we cant make that move . And though faced with two tough opponents he still needs to be tested a little more and with that Real Madrid game coming i think that is the best test for Arne Slot ❤
At this second? Nope tbh....I was ready for a change. Clinging to nostalgia...would be detrimental to our players development. Klopp's style put alot of pressure on the players health and fitness. We need a really deep squad depth to compete and it is not fair that LFC try to stick to ffp and it hurt our chances. Under Klopp...Liverpool was exciting to watch...but injuries and leaky defenses....cost us the trophies..92 to 93...98 to 99....mind boggling
Slot is a better tactician. Klopp was never known as a tactical genius but he knows how to make players passionate and lift them up. That's as much as important as focusing on tactics. Having said that i still feel like klopp was the reason we lost many points since 2020 season as we became too predictable. In 20-21, klopp used midfielders as centre backs. That was a joke tbh. In 21-22 season, He should've better prepared for the 2-2 draws multiple times when we were 2-0 up. And we lost that title by 1 point that season 😢. We also lost ucl final against real madrid because of tactics. Madrid knows low block is our weakness so they just sat back and punished us in counter attack. Our defense used to be horrible because we were so high up even with 2-0 lead and losing those 2-0 leads cost us the title in 2022 even though we had a fantastic start a d everyone thought we would win quadruple. But it turned out teams figured out our weaknesses and punished us in counter attack. People didn't use to criticize him because he was seen as a god but tactically he was never that great even in his previous clubs. As a human being he is the best coach ever no questions asked.
Sorry but you remember many things different than i did which i need to point out Midfielders as CB yes but it was because of an injury crisis and Fabinho who also plaid rb in monaco and has the height plaid CB and hendo brought at least the passion, passsing and spirit out of emergency not a tactical twist don't make things up. Madrid knows low block bla - i guess you totally forgot that their Goalkeeper was MotM and Liverpool had a much better xG (which often was the case for Klopp xG was superior but not that effective in scoring) his team often needed Momentum and leading up to the quadruple we rather lost momentum and don't forget how very close it was those margins can be down to luck so no the quadruple wasn't about miscoaching that is a wild statement with little to no arguments but a low block if this was true the whole season would have been bad because everyone would easily abuse it the way you put it but it was just a more about an attacking philosophy. I also looked up your claim in 21-22 liverpool never lost after leading 2-0 just twice ended up with a draw after leading 2 - 0 and to jog your memory in both those draws( chelsea and brentford) and more glaringly this Westham 1 loss of 2(Leeds a fair loss) loses liverpool rather lost to lack of conversion so yes he was stubborn coaching more offensive but no miscoaching in most cases
Great breakdown! I do have a slightly different view of the Chelsea game though. Out of possession, especially when liverpool had the ball in their own half. Chelsea employed a really good man marking system. While under Klopp, a lot of our ball progression came from the wide areas, under Slot we progress the ball more through the center. However, in this game Lavia and Caicedo were very good at man marking Gravenberch and Curtis this kind of forced us into playing far too many wayward long balls. While playing long is a good idea when playing against a high press, it doesn't work out that well when we don't have players aiming to win the second ball which was the case against Chelsea and why we struggled to keep a hold of the ball. I do think we struggle to progress the ball a bit against teams that can press high really well like Arsenal and Man City. Hopefully Slot figures something out for this Sunday, when Arsenal without a doubt will play with a vert aggressive press.
In all Honestly Rn I would prefer slot To Klopp because now I have a lower Chance of getting a Heart Attack because I am Worried We are Going to get countered and Concede,I prefer these Calmer and cooler Tactics
Prime Klopp any day of the week. Even if Slot goes on to win 2 or more EPL, it would be no way close to what Klopp has done. Klopp lifted Liverpool from abyss. He was running out of energy and he himself left on a high note.
Lol you haven’t got a clue have you, all slot needs is 1 champions league and 1 premier league to match klopps legacy and he might just do it in his first season. Nobody cares about bringing our team up this is liverpool we’ve always been a big club. He only won us 1 ucl and 1 prem it wasn’t that special. Klopps football made us concede a lot of goals and made us lose league titles and made us get beat 5-2 to Real Madrid
@@sah_sook hahaha. I am so glad you came with your opinion. Did you know that Bob Paisley has won more trophies than Bill Shankly. But, it is Shankly's statue that is outside Kop. Shankly was a father figure and he shaped this club in 70s. Paisley who followed has built a much bigger trophy cabinet.. This isn't FIFA. Obviously, common sense and practicality isn't your strong skills.
Don't forget this is Klopps project this was all Klopp, Liverpool found a manager to continue what Klopp wanted to build and its worked out amazingly, Slot will have his time to build what he wants at Liverpool but any success Slot brings this year or in 2 years time will also be a part of Klopp
Everyone has super short memories, did everyone forget liverpool were in the title race last season? So why is everyone surprised they're up there again this season. It's the same squad that challenged last season
Slot all day! They are now more reliable defensively than they ever were, under Klop. They don't tire as much and thus can sustain pressure for much longer than their opposition = Wins!!! :)
I am also a Liverpool fan and know best to never get carried away especially so early and only 1 point difference at the top between us and City who always tends to get the last laugh at the end of the season. I would love to know then what happened with the game against Nottingham forest which is why I don't follow the hype.
Oh Jimbo. Love your work. Wouldn't swap right now no. The squad needed new guidance, ideas, inspiration etc. Just look at Curtis Jones for the Slot Effect
Liverpool are definitely up there. Hopefully they’ll win the premier league as a Spurs fan because if Man City win it again then it’s just a farmers league at this point imo. Slot’s doing an incredible job at Liverpool! Also, Salah’s been unbelievable so far this season!
That's a tough question but atm no.. I trust the process I actually like slots gameplans, plus Gravenberch probably gets dropped by Jürgen, as much as I love klopp, we gotta move on at some point. I'm sticking with Arne Slot
Yes to win something,Clubs must have different flexible approach of strategy for different opponents accordingly. But this doesn't mean,it often works out. But am happy as Liverpool fan,we don't struggle with long transition period as it has been happening at man united since Ferguson has left
Okay listen I’m a Liverpool supporter, but I’m also a realist, and I just can’t see us winning any major silverware this year. We’re currently lacking massive attacking depth if we were to lose either diaz or gakpo it’s shot. I just don’t think we can compare with teams like City and Madrid with massive depth and skill. If anything we may make a run for FA cup or EFL cup but I’m predicting a Round of 16 exit from ucl and either 3rd or 2nd in PL. I’m sorry I have ultimate faith always in my club but it’s just hard to deny what we’ve seen for the last 4 years. Make me eat my words please Slot.
Liverpool spent more weeks on top of the league last season than City or Arsenal. I love what Arne's doing, but let's be right here - we were very much contenders last season too.
Let us be patient and not heap too much expectations on Captain Arne Slot. He is doing great so far. But there is a long long way to go. Good Luck to my beloved Liverpool FC. Leipzig and Emirates it is a big week. Good Luck team.
Thanks James, that's excellent and very informative. Perhaps you could have placed the mic a tat further as you were constantly popping the mic. It was quite disruptive and not a good listening experience. Thanks.
even as liverpool fans we didn't think of the title yet, but premier league has some other thoughts. give us a rest please, its been only 8 games. its only the first season for slot, we dont feel any pressure for title right now
With all due respect to Arne Slot, we were title contenders last year, and most years before under Klopp. We shit the bed on a treble (not THE treble, calm down) last year in the dying weeks of the competitions. Hopefully, the team can lock in and make it happen with more consistency under Slot.
Slot hasn’t turned Liverpool into title contenders. Liverpool have been title contenders for the last 7 seasons. It’s only due to severe injury crises that they haven’t always challenged closer in some seasons. Liverpool have been a better side than Arsenal the last 2 seasons but just haven’t had Arsenals luck with injuries. On paper only Odegaard Rice and Saliba get into Liverpools side. That said, Slot is doing a fantastic job.
if my beloved reds play against arsenal or manchester city the way they played against chelsea, those matches will be over by half-time, and city and the gunners will bring on their reserves to coast to three points. if changes aren't made, the return chelsea match will be brutal for my liverpool.
@@hundredpercentx No one is celebrating anything, but you are also daft if you think Liverpool will drop off like Spurs does. Different caliber of teams.
I wish Klopp had stayed another few years, and I think he would have had tremendous success, but the transition to Slot has been excellent, and you can't argue with his success. We're now in the Slot era! ⚽️
As a Liverpool fan i’d wait probably till Christmas to talk about us being a potential title contenders. We were on top of the table in January last season and still came 3rd so we never know but we are gonna have a Citypool title race again for sure Arsenal are gonna finish below Chelsea this season (not an unpopular opinion but a prediction)
yes i would swap back klopp but the solution would be slot in as assistant instead of lijnders. the latter is super idealistic & wanted the side to play one single system/style evangelically, whereas slot is demonstrating pragmatism & tactical flexibility in his coaching. the fundamental principles have not shifted much but the team is finally willing to sit in shape in moments, bring numbers back into the box to get blocks in, and to not rely only on the otherworldly physicality of VVD+Konate to be ultra-attacking & ultra-high-line at every possible moment. that pragmatism & ability to adapt to the opponent will take Klopp's amazing foundations & elevate them
He just inherited Klopps well oiled squad. Once these players leave. He will have a hard time building a new team. I am a united fan and Klopp was different breed of coach. He knew what he was doing.
What I like about Slot is that we are not running around so much. I hated that we are sprinting everywhere because the injuries would just start and not stop. I like that we are positionally disciplined and finish our dinner. I love that.
Liverpool literally only played two top ten teams both at home and lost to one. Let's not just on this hype and let's see where they are come December because what is ahead of them is a seriously difficult schedule. I doubt they'll be even 2nd in several weeks from now!
Give the option to join and broadcast your own games youll make more than you get from broadcaster deals, youll reach a global audience easier... But i want my cut for this idea 💡
I'm surprised that the official premier league channel can't show video from a game that was played two days ago. American sports seem to deal a lot better with copywrite stuff.
