i think one of the biggest problem with cheap monitors is that those stands on them are made out of thin paper
@yanagida_01
@yanagida_01 Год назад
yeah, they literally screw in to the plastic instead of having a metal thread insert, so they strip really quick. though it's a good thing that good quality monitor arms come in cheap now, usually at around $15 to $20.

Well buying monitor arms for cheap is always an option, still, having shitty plastic stands is annoying out of the box.

Yeah, that sucks a lot! I`ve been noticing that trend with cheapo panels last few years. Wobbly non-adjustable mess. I have Dell U2412M since 2015 (back then it cost me around $400 in europe) which is ancient by all modern metrics (i quite like 16:10 aspect ratio though, shame that died out) but it has ergonomically adjustable stand with height, swivel, tilt and pivot with steel base and all moving parts - still smooth with no creaks. Also I guess stand alone is double the weight of any of these monitors. Whole thing is almost 7 kg which is probably in line with 30" decent quality panels these days.
@XxGorillaGodxX
@XxGorillaGodxX Год назад
Part of why I like a lot of older Dell monitors, since those often had height adjustable, tilting AND rotating stands, meanwhile you'd be lucky to get any of those on most new cheap monitors, and the image quality isn't much better on those if at all usually.

For anyone looking at cheap monitors, Do be aware that the biggest (in my experience doing repair work in the industry) factor is longevity. I've seen a LOT of dirt cheap monitors have either REALLY bad coil whine straight out of the box, or straight up blown caps within a few months. While they are simple repairs, you don't want to be fixing something you just bought. Look into the brand your buying for some long term reviews if you can

What? Expect back bleed and dead pix to be the danger even if reviews gives a screen a ok. How can a non CRT monitor be so bad that it die due to caps and coil wine?? Got a 1440p 31.5inch 75hz screen for like $200 and it is still a really good monitor 3 years into owning it. Got heavily used 1080p monitors from Samsung and BenQ that are still doing there job no dead pixels or back bleed or anything. All cheap ish screens. 2005-2015. Sure 60hz but still.

The thing about Pixio is that a couple of years down the line the model you bought will be well out of production and you will have zero support, spare parts, etc. On the other hand you can figure out what panel is in the thing and find a cracked monitor with a compatible driver board pretty easily if you need one. And if you hit this point, I implore you, buy a new equivalent monitor if you can, and use the Pixio repair as a secondary. If you can afford it it's the right way to go.

Probably not, Game Mode on TVs is to help deal with input latency that gets added from all the processing TVs do to their image. For these monitors the problem is the panel itself is slow and can't transition between colours fast enough to not smear and ghost the image at the rated refresh rate.

Btw the Samsung odyssey 7 sometimes goes for ~420 pounds at discount pricing, so you might want to consider it as an option(1440p has up to 240hz, comes in 27" and 32", it's curved so might be your cup of tea since you had previously a wide-screen)

I have personally bought the 24e4 Kourai and been using it for quite a while, I dont think it was that bad in Terms for the Price. The only issue I had with it was that the 165hz were were blurry so I switched to 144hz and it ran quite good! It werent the best colors and ghosting was a also a bit there, but the price it was a really good Monitor in my Opinion.

I have been using the Pixio PX222 for about 6 months in my "Kitchen table battle station". I needed something cheap, and easy to setup and tear down fast to make room for dinner. I have been loving it even compared to my main gaming rig 27" 144hz monitor. I would recccomend it to anyone looking for something small and well rounded.

When buying a budget secondary monitor, the problem I ran into was that most stands do not allow for vertical orientation. I ended up paying an extra $40 for a vertically capable stand over the horizontal-only version of the same monitor. But it was worth it.

It's not the same company. Much like the Westinghouse and Bell+Howell crap, some Chinese conglomerate bought up the brand after it went out of business in 2014, and uses it to dupe people who trusted the name in the past.

I'm Dutch, so I have a Dell model introduced in 2010. It is an off-lease Dell G2410H (24"; 1920x1080; 60Hz), the price was $59.33. It has a solid stand adjustable in all direction; shift up/down; turn left/right and rotate vertically. It has DVI-D and VGA compatible with my $59.99 ASRock B450 motherboard with the same connectors and an additional HDMI plug. I use it with a Ryzen 3 2200G :) With a good cable I prefer the analogue VGA.
