This panel discussion entitled "How Badly Did the Scribes Corrupt the Bible" was a part of a lecture weekend at the Lanier Theological Library in the spring of 2023. The lecture was by Dan Wallace and was titled, "Formatting the Word of God".
The following scholars participated in the panel discussion.
Dan Wallace-Dan Wallace is the Executive Director of The Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts and Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary.
Craig Evans-Craig A. Evans is the John Bisagno Distinguished Professor of Christian Origins at Houston Baptist University in Texas.
Denis Salgado-Denis Salgado is the Digital Collection Research Fellow at The Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts.
Tommy Wasserman-Tommy Wasserman is Lecturer in New Testament Exegesis at Örebro School of Theology, Sweden
David Capes as moderator-David B. Capes is the Director of the Lanier Theological Library in Houston Texas.

This was fantastic, thank you so much. The geek in me just has to know if in the manuscript with two redundant books of Hebrews (thought to have been written by two different scribes), was the content of those books exactly the same or were there any differences?

Marthoma christians say that st.thomas landed in Kerala,south india. They still conduct services in Aramaic, the language of Jesus and the seat of their church was Syria. Now Portuguese destroyed their libraries by direct orders from the vatican. The biblle was quite different. Does a copy of this Bible still exist and whats the difference?

no reason to desert the opinion which has obtained the sanction of the most competent scholars, that the formation of the Peshitto Syriac was to be fixed within the first half of the second century. The very obscurity which hangs over its origin is proof of its venerable age, because it shows that it grew up spontaneously among Christian congregations...Had it been a work of later date, of the 3rd or 4th century it is scarcely possible that its history should be so uncertain as it is.» Dr. Brooke Foss Westcott, “The New Testament Canon”, 1855 Note: Westcott later changed his mind about the Peshitta, seeing how it often agreed with the Byzantine texts, against his beloved Alexandrian texts. He then concluded that the Peshitta must have been a revision of the Old Syriac (“Introduction to the NT Greek”, 1882).

@@pekde The logic is since the different Aramaic sects use the Peshitta, it means that it probably goes back to the early second century or earlier. Hope that helps. Blessings.
