This is actually pretty advance, engineer it to perform great and efficient. Using the battery weight to your benefit. Amazing.

Thanks for all the work you have put into bb8. I'm currently printing your thin panels to go on your v1 skeleton.

The forward and back motors actually sound a lot like the R2-D2 rolling motor SFX from the first movie.

Hi! Thanks for the video. I had watched a BB-8 thing and always wondered how the head worked on the body ball. I'm no engineer, but have an idea. If you see this, please let me know if I'm right or how it works in general, I don't need specifics. Does that top head part have magnets that both repel and attract the head with magnets to keep it on top floating essentially? Thanks for any reply!
@CaryChristieII
@CaryChristieII 9 месяцев назад
The magnets in the dome and ball attract to each other. There are casters under the dome that allow it to roll on the ball. Have a good day!

This is great! Are there plans to have the V3 released to the club?
@CaryChristieII
@CaryChristieII 4 года назад
No, this will not be released. The V1 drive works great, I would rather dedicate my time to other projects for BB-8 and BB-9e.

Too bad this won't be released but this is great. Nice work Cary! What is the name of the RC and what type of modifications did you do or can you detail that if possible? Thanks!

Do you have a video that shows how you made your motor engine? And if you don't have a video would you be able to make one.?

I like to know is the Military interested in this. If this can be used for reconnaissance. Can this go over all types of terrains? Also can a gun can be mounted on top of it?

This is so cool! Years ago I made a weight-shift RC ball with a hamster ball and I've been wanting to make a larger ball for a long time. I've been researching drives and shells. I like this idea. Mine would be simpler as I have no need for the head control, just steering and drive. What are the blue rings for? Thanks, Nick
@CaryChristieII
@CaryChristieII 2 года назад
Thank you! The Blue rings are slip rings, they transfer power from the drive to the ball for lights, sound, and charging.

Hi Cary, I am a member of the BB8 builders club forum and wanted to download your V1 drive system files but it appears they are only available on your facebook group. I don't have a facebook account. Are the files available on another site like dropbox or anything? Thanks!
@CaryChristieII
@CaryChristieII 4 года назад
The first step is to buy the metal kit, this gives you access to the Facebook page. Becoming a member of Facebook would be necessary as there is a lot of discussion and people on the group that can help you with the build.

@@CaryChristieII Thanks for the reply. I would love to buy the metal kit and I have no doubt about the vast amount information and help that gets exchanged on the facebook group but unfortunately i won't get a facebook account even for that. I appreciate the response!
