@@existinginaspace8347while I won't knock you for your affordability, I wouldn't trust a $5k used car in my part of the USA these days. $9k would be my starting point at a dealer. Your better option is private, but you'll definitely need cash in hand. $5k was my civic @ 90k miles 12 years ago, and that thing pushed 250k miles b4 I traded up. Great little car.

Great comment. You are correct. Seems like 80- 90% of the videos were victorious. Now only 30% show success, 70% are look at my failures. I like Doug Demuro, Hoovie, Eric Estepp. Craig is really close to being super popular. Give him a little more time, he appears to be regrouping, reflecting on the last 5years. Craig, to be honest, all these cars you're buying "for youtube", i mean, not talking for everybody, but probably a lot of people don't care. I'd like to see you do a trial period with only going to the auction, flipping cars, talk about profit. Who gives a rat about a school bus. If you want to buy it for you, you can just mention it, and that's it. But a lot of people don't care about these junk cars. I'd be interested in seeing more about day to day operating a dealer, or stories about customers being dumb, or trying to scam you. Just talk about prices going up and down (which you do, i know), avoid dragging 2 3 episodes about a shitty project about which a lot of people won't care, if you really want to focus on the youtube side. I really enjoy your channel, and i usually like to watch all the episode so hopefully helps in any way, i have pretty much watched most of your episodes since 1st episode of flipping into a ferrari, that was recommended to me, and to be honest, i'd like you to try that again in this market, rather than during covid times. I really hope everything works out in the end for you!

just have your office manager limit you to a maximum 5 project cars at any time no matter how exciting a sixth one would be. that should resolve most of your issues. for your existing hoopd inventory, no more project cars till you clear your inventory. start with the ones at the dealership and replace them with the money makers. set yourself a plan to complete two per week, and list which ones you will complete each week. you’ll be back on track for the summer sales, and you’ll still get your videos

Make a deal with a mechanic on the ones that don’t run… either your own (Dave) or someone else in the area… or both. Tell them to fix & sell the cars that don’t run. Get your money back when it sells and they keep the profit. Coming into spring & summer in your area would be a good time to do this and just move onto the stuff that makes money.

The other side to this is - Hoovie has an unlimited budget, unlimited property for storage, and cars are truly his hobby - running a fast food restaurant chain is his primary source of income. Mixing pleasure with business is a cardinal sin, as the priorities get skewed. As for that Mercury Cougar - that is a damn cool car; all the middle-aged women I knew growing up in the 90's seemed to buy them, but if equipped with the 5.0L engine, they were sleepers (or could have been turned into them easily). But to my earlier point? Nothing excites me less than a rich kid's toy (Italian sports cars) - a car that I will never own, don't ever wish to own, and every RU-vidr I used to follow "jumped the shark" so to speak the day they started focusing on them, rather than the normal and obtainable vehicles I could realistically see in my own driveway. I live in southern NH too - this isn't Ferrari country. Used car dealers have a reputation; you started off on the right foot by trying to show the "behind the scenes" of selling used cars - stick to that, narrow your focus, and maybe show off some of the oddities you find along the way (I'd love to see that Cougar featured - is that one of the "Bostonian Edition" models?)

Craig…wasn’t the Ferrari $400 bucks? And then sold for 86k…that pays for most of your RU-vid fleet. And do you not get revenues from RU-vid? Given that you have a dealership…why not hire another mechanic and have him/her focus on your RU-vid fleet? You tend to purchase interesting project cars and you almost always buy them right…there is no way you are loosing your shirt on the RU-vid side of the house. If the Grey Escalade is not a rust bucket…sell it. Sell of the cars that are not junk and keep some clunkers that you dedicate time to fixing and making content. I have been watching your channel for a long time…you had the Viper before the hoarding of clunkers began. You should do a video on the $500 dollar Panther…clean it up and sell it. That’s a money maker…you won’t retire but you won’t loose either. Now stop the complaining or we are going to start asking you if you want cheese with your whine 😂

I think this is the story for a lot of youtubers though. They start a RU-vid channel to show what they do then the money starts rolling in. At that point they go "hey i get more views when i do 'whatever' videos." Then they start focusing on ONLY certain types of videos and ONLY videos. Oh i love it when they complain they bought something for a video and lost money while they make $10,000 off the ads. For example 88k views even at say 16 cents per view is nearly $15,000 for a 20min video

@jackpalczynski7884
@jackpalczynski7884 6 месяцев назад
Your solution is this. Every week, you take one of these clunkers. You clean it up and make it run. One week max. It goes up for sale CHEAP. Now the clock starts. You have one more week to sell it. So if it's running fine and can be polished and vacuumed in an afternoon, I give you the rest of that first week and the second week. You make youtube vids for the first week and update all the cars' second week. Not sold at the end of the second week? To the auction with no reserve and it's gone and you can video the auction experience. With the youtube payments plus whatever you get, you won't lose money and you get rid of all this junk. I have to include the GTS in this. You know what people looking for these cars want? The GT-R wide body and a factory paint job, like in black. The paint is really cool but it narrows your market a lot. I'd consider buying it but I would absolutely repaint it. Sorry.

It really depends on your price point for selling cars, what you'll buy cars for and at what prices. Buying cars from last century seems so far afield for a northern state. I'd stick with 2016 or newer, and clear out what is clearly not going to be in your inbox for videos or lifestyle. But I'm the last to talk about priorities, seems I hold onto things because there will never be a replacement. Like my stereo is so last century, and it's incompatible with anything this century.

Hey Craig. keep it up, man. You're on the road to 1 million subs. I am going to be using your viper dash removal video as a guide here soon as mine was repainted badly. I also will be posting a video of my viper project as it progresses found some good solutions for fuel pump module replacement you may be interested in if you dont want to spend the 2500 on a new one check it out when I am done editing. thanks and keep showing more dealer buys and sales thats what brought me to your channel. Just keep up with the RU-vid marathon and you'll get to 1 mil. The views have an ebb and flow just like the stock market, so don't worry.

originally I subbed to watch you do your dealership thing, and to get the dealer perspective. You have a good personality, so I stuck around through the house flip stuff, family stuff, boat stuff, and even through the hooptie phase. You have project ADD. I'm the same way, I see the potential, but never the time to finish things in a timely manner. I'd recommend doping a purge, and maybe getting back to dealer things. We're here for ya. So do things. but don't let your main income dwindle cause you want to make videos. Keep up the good work.

Pick one. Instead of buying two or three cars, spend that money getting that ONE fixed. I have the same problem as you. I have a lot of ideas and visions of what I want to do, but don’t get around to it until I have time and money. I have recently started disciplining myself to focus on one thing and use the money I would have spent on another project to finish the current project. Next time you look to buy another project on an impulse, remind yourself you have a T-Bird that needs that money. Love your videos- hope you can get yourself back on the track you had envisioned.

Thanks for being so much like all the crazy used car dudes I worked with here in Australia 👍😁 Craig....with the Internet, the days of needing a yard open to the public is no longer essential. Why don't you move to a big commercial shed? Do a Hoovie hooptie man cave garage, combined with your car yard. Go big enough to include your detailing, workshop and studio. Yes, big investment, but you seem to be in a healthy financial situation. Commercial property is generally less expensive than retail. The customer finds a car they want online, they will always find you wherever you are.

Worst problem is a car that is not driven, things deteriorate costing money to rejuvinate. More critical in your climate. You have to get rid of those not being used or they will do a conversion into rust or mouse food/housing the longer they sit. You may be better getting a serious mechanic (who can spray paint) to fix these things and record the work done. Plenty of them making YT money. I buy project cars which I repair myself to keep me occupied (I am retired) as I have an equipped workshop and the technical skills to do it. Yes, I could do YT but cannot be bothered as that would then become work. Just repairing a GM 5L40E transmission and reinstalling it, but at my own pace. If I want to ignore it for a day or two, then I do. Go back to your base, give the junk away.

RU-vid hasn’t destroyed your dealer business. It just gave you another reason to feed your hoarding tendencies. You get to talk yourself into buying stuff on camera. Your basically selling stuff to yourself 🤣. You are a good salesman!

The Meaning Behind The Song: My Hooptie by Sir Mix-A-Lot “My Hooptie” is a classic rap song released by Sir Mix-A-Lot in 1989. The song tells a story about the struggles of owning and maintaining a beat-up car, commonly referred to as a “hooptie” in urban slang.

Your like me Craig, you buy a car thinking what it could be made into without considering , the time, effort and money it's going to take. I used to spend hours haggling with the local hooptie dealer "Honest Pod", I usually walked away with a car that after hours of work was worth little more than I paid for it. The upside being that I had a fun car to drive, learned a great deal about body work, paint and mechanical repair . The fact that it was paid for was just icing on the cake!

Remember everything is supply and demand. You don't set the prices the market does. So if the market does not want to pay a certain price you have to wait and or not sell it or sell it for what the market will pay.

What we need here is reset. Spending time with the wife, kids, and time on the lake in the summer is what matters. The increasing time family is more important just working on project cars that take more time and money than they are worth. Sell the school bus, kill the Caddy project and sell the parts trucks for it. What is the market for the limo in NH? Sell it an move on. Limit project cars to 5. It is like buying shoes when you have everything you need. If you buy one new pair, you have to throw one old pair out. Love your videos.

I know there are probably few people interested in your 1994 Cougar, but I for one like the Cougar. I had a ‘91 V6 that was a pretty good car and wish I wouldn’t have gotten ride of it when I did. It is hard to find a good clean car of that age.
