John Wayne did not fall or decline, he simply died from cancer. He actually worked up to his death. His final movies did not do so good because critics tore them apart. Wayne had been admitted to the hospital around five weeks prior to his death, at which time doctors removed an intestinal obstruction. I've been hearing people saying he was gay for decades. I don't know if he was or not, but I do know many men who are go to extraordinary lengths to hide it. And I also realize that many gay men try to say other men are gay to distract people from the fact that they themselves are. If he was, apparently he hid it well.

Actually John Wayne wanted to serve in WW2 but there was two things holding him back. The first thing is that he was too old for the draft. the second reason was he was deemed 4F for the injuries he sustained playing college football. So while other men were fighting on different fronts, John Wayne did his fighting on the silver screen and arguably did more for the war effort than what he would have done carrying a gun, but being an ignoramous like yourself you would probably not know such facts.

On a break during filming a scene with a wagon train attacked by Apaches one actor said to him, "well, John, we certainly killed us a lot of Indians" Wayne replied, "Yeah, but they all got up".
