Aww... And she was so intelligent and progressive... She made sure the black GI were allowed to visit... God bless her... I wish I could have met and talk to her
A legend. Thank you. Having seen all of the interviews with Davis & Crawford, I think it was a press thing to garner buzz. Even through the years their interviews were nothing but gracious to each other.
Supposedly she wasn't one of the great Hollywood beauties. But seeing all the photographs of her from the 1930s and early 1940s when she was young, she was undeniably one of the prettiest - and even most beautiful - of the belles of Hollywood's Golden Age. Just one look into those eyes, and you could see how men could turn to butter. She could be tough and vulnerable, and that had a lot to do with how impressive were her acting chops. She was unique, and there's never been any other actress like her before or since.
Bette didn't believe that plastic surgery was a good idea when it first became popular in Hollywood. Much later she had a maximum "massive" face lift and it failed. Apparently "tweaking" away the flaws and wrinkles is the way to go.
Coming to Holkywood, Bette wasn't stood up at the airport. She landed at the Pasadena train station. And everyone called Wyler Willie, not William, Bette included.
Bette could have manipulated me any way she liked, she was gorgeous. And yes, she had few peers when it came to acting, Hepburn is the only rival that comes to mind.
I can actually see Bette Davis as Scarlett: after all, she excelled playing a southern belle in Jezebel. I can also see Errol Flynn as Rhett. Baby Jane is one thing, but her best role for all time was in Dark Victory.
Bette was gifted with acting BRILLIANCE! People like to say Katharine Hepburn is our best actress, but they are wrong; all Kate could do was play herself, in every single role. Bette had the gift. Incredible. and Black Magic? PUH-LEASE. Where did you make that up from? it isn't an open Hollywood secret, which means it is not true. Love Bette's work!!
Bettte's parents divorced when she was 10, and her father was cruel to all of them. You said she grew up with parents in a bad marriage; nope, another lie. They were divorced and Ruthie (mom), and her daughters Bette and Bobby were a threesome their entire lives. Her Mom taught her to be chaste.
William Wyler's comment in front of Bette about showing her chest was the first time they ever met, and he they didn't know each other. It was banter, not scandalous words from someone who knew her well. quit twisting scenarios to fit your narrative.
Another lie: the papers weren't going to announce Bette as big star, bc they didn't do that. The day the press covered Joan's divorce was ALSO the day Bette's movie, Ex-Lady premiered/opened. Joan didn't plan it; it was happenstance, and at the time, Joan was a bigger star, so her divorce news was a HUGE news item. The feud was with Miriam Hopkins, NOT Joan. They didn't interact nor have a feud; they just didn't like each other. Joan used to catch Bette having sex w Franchot Tone, whom Joan was dating and then married. THAT is the foundation of the fake feud between the two. Get your facts straight, dude. geez
