My oldest snake is a 30 year old male ball python, who is 5+ feet long and 2500+ grams, and he's not fat. Maybe an exception to the rule, but does prove that snakes do grow their entire lives and males can get to be pretty big!

@@Armiyana for curiosity's sake, I just weighed him - he's 2718g, and definitely not overweight - just a big distinguished gentleman enjoying his retirement :) I'm sure he'd be over 3000g if I let him eat whatever he wanted (he's fed every 3-4 weeks or so to maintain a healthy weight).

Yes, a snake that old will definitely be larger just by virtue of the length of life!

Great informative video and so important for particularly those thinking about getting a snake to know this. I’m 💯 with you on a male ball python perhaps being the better option as a “pet snake” for the reasons you mentioned. My biggest girl is an 8 year old OD YB Calico Bumblebee that’s is about 3500g.

I’m going to pick my baby up Saturday, I’m getting a male. I have bad joint pains and worry about the bigger female ones being harder to handle as I grow older with it. I loved this video! They are all so beautiful i want to hold them all!!

We have a African import that is 27 years old and maxed at 8000g, she’s now at a healthy 6500g. Huge head and just gorgeous. Hoping for a clutch on her before she gets too old but only time will tell. Our biggest male was 2500g, sadly he has passed

I have a pastel lesser het clown female that overranges my 5000g scale. Her biggest clutch was 21 eggs. I had a black pastel spider that was over 5000g as well, but lost her last yr to egg bind. She got 12 out before binding and passing. She still had 6 eggs in her.

Crazy! In our experience, the size of the female doesn't have any correlation to the size of the clutches! A lot of our smaller girls give large clutches and vice versa.

Hi 👋 in your experience what morphs/genes seems to grow the quickest/largest ? I have a nuclear blast(fire, butter, pinstripe, pastel) she is 16months old and 1400grams. As far as I can see she isn't over weight and just over 3ft.

Would snakes that are over 3 years old 'catch up' in growth if you increase the feeding frequency or would that just make them fat/overweight? I've taken over 3 snakes last few weeks. 2 girls from early 2022 who are barely 400 grams and a male that was born in 2020 and just hit 600 gram (he had bred before and was intentionally kept light)?

I have a 5yr old Male BlackPastel Trick that stays at a steady 1900g being fed a medium rat bi-weekly. A healthy sized boy for sure.

Has nothing to do with enclosure size, just genetics and nutrition :) They'll get around 3-4 ft.

The older females shown all look too chunky. They need to live in enclosures that are bigger than drawers so they can exercise. My 30+ year old BP lives in a palace in comparison.

Ball pythons are "chunky" snakes in general. That's just how they are. I guarantee you Kinova is giving them the best care even if you don't agree with keeping them in a tub.
