Saw an interview from 2009 when Bill just left Chicago. It was with Jason and Robert. Robert stated that Bill was always uncomfortable with the success of Chicago instead of the success of Bill Champlin. Honestly I find that hard to believe after listening to many Bill Champlin interviews. I loved all of Bill's contributions to Chicago. Without him I don't think they last 50 plus years.

After watching this, had to play Hard Habit To Break. Great great song. It’s been really interesting hearing his stories. Have said this on a prior video, but Bill gets my vote for best live vocal improviser of all time. One of my favourite performers. Seems to be a hell of a guy too.

The guy that oversings everything? Listen to the rest of these interviews. His ego is huge.

I laughed at one of the previous comments Bill made about the success of Chicago during the Foster years! Even though it was a change in direction they all backed up the Brinks truck!

Yeah that was funny. But ironically Chicago's more financial success was during the Foster years.

Not funny. Hypocrite champlin took the Chicago job for money and then pissed and moaned during his entire tenure. He’s one to talk

Bill wrote a lot of great songs for Chicago, pity that they weren't released as singles, they would've been hits.

I love Bill Champlain. The way the Big 4 in Chicago treated him was disgraceful. It’s as simple as that. If there was a personality issue fine. It’s their band and they can do what they want with it. My problem is they have never mentioned his contribution to the band. Pretty bush. Before Foster and Champlain came on board their career was circling the drain.

Exactly. And the group is still cashing in on music from the 80s era because people like it. Foster said the same in the doc about him.

Wrong. I saw that champlin resented and disrespected Chicago right from the start, calling it his “day job”. The guys in Chicago put up with him when they should have canned him as quickly as they canned guitarists until Keith He’s arrogant as hell. Putting down Jerry Garcia and the grateful dead and saying that the people of Marin County just didn’t get his music. Bill - they got your music. The issue was that the sons of Champlin sucked balls. The Grateful Dead didn’t. Chicago didn’t. Get off the Internet you bitter old fuck

Sons of Champlin...Get High. Loosen up naturally. Freedom. When that album came out in the sixties it would bring tears to peoples eyes and still to mine. Peace

Awesome interview John as always. Please don’t edit Champlin cursing. Makes the flow awkward and takes away from his personality and descriptive storytelling.

BALLADS were the TREND THEN! This band along with others were just trying to survive the DISCO thang. If it wasn't for Cetera Champlin & Foster- there would have no longer been a Chicago! And to fire & throw these guys under the bus shows the lack of character & humility that Lamm & the 3 drunk horns have! That so called documentary was A CROC DOC! When Peter left i no longer could validate this band!

I totally agree with just about everyone here! Chicago made soooo much $$, and the core that are left still cry about it!! Record Co told Foster to do something or else Chicago was done! That’s called business your not doing your job bring in someone that can. Saw them 2 years ago, free I must admit, they were terrible 3 foster songs the rest pre 80’s, 20 min breaks in between sets 😩…
