i miss my e46.....lost it in a divorce....told her id buy her out but she wont havin it.....car got impounded a state away 6 months after we split....car was trashed and ran like shit so i didnt bid on it on the auction
E90, F80 & G80 are all faster but the E46 M3 is the true essense of pure sporting, high revving, normally aspirated, manual shifting, 2 door coupe. This is still my favourite M3 of all time. Pure analog goodness.
I owned an E36 German Spec Coupe in Dakar Yellow and an E46 manual in Imola Red back when I lived in South Africa...I miss them both but would buy back my E36 German Spec tomorrow if I got the chance...what a car that was!
I ordered my G80 M3 in manual and plan to drive it into the ground. I have owned all of the great M cars except for a Z8. I daily my G80 M3 and love it. I might even trade it in 2027 at the end of the production run for a brand new one in the exact same spec just to get a mileage reset. May the manual M3 rest in piece. I'll keep driving mine as long as I possibly can
I may be a bit biased as I am now on #3, but e46 will forever hold a special place in my heart. Albeit ridiculously expensive (and no m3 generation is cheap per say), once you start to dive into the e46, you realize there is so much untapped potential being stored in both the chassis and the motor. With some refinement and the help of modern technology, there are few driving experiences that match it. I would love for you to come experience my build when my fitment is ready!!
Alright, best looking has to go to the F80. Most Iconic goes to the E46. Best performing is without question the G80. And the E90 makes the best noise. That being said, the E36 is my favorite. I’ve had 2. Acquiring this vert after owning a G80 has been one of the most fun ventures of my car journey.
Had to stop. This is one of the smartest, unbiased sounding and truthful comment. I've gotta f80 and absolutely in love with it had an e46 and loved that too. Never cared for e92 but it's cool now just slow.
Quite the nice choice if you ask me! 😅 I just really favour light cars and the E36 is the one where still almost any parts are relatively easy to get, which certainly isn´t the case for the E30 anymore sadly...
@@Schmitzelhaus I agree man. I was looking at Porsche 987 and E8X chassis. Ultimately, I went with the E36 because it’s still lightweight, very fun, nearly bulletproof in the drivetrain, and with enough seats that my daughter can join in on the shenanigans for awhile.
Holy fck...just randomly watching another M3 related video and see my actual 13 yrs old video/car in 10:55 and with Michael Phelps like a cherry on top...You just made my day guys :)
Okay I'm really not going to get into all the missed stuff with the E46 and E9X BUT I will say something not many people talk about so I would totally forgive you for not saying anything about it. But when BMW was making their first real mass produced Turbos car. Yes I know the 2002. The BMW 2002 Turbo is one of the most revered cars built by the Bavarian automaker in the 1970s and today it’s viewed as a highly collectible German classic - made all the more desirable by the fact that just 1,672 examples were ever built. (No I didn't copy paste that last sentence. ....Okay yes, yes I did). Anyway so BMW doesn't consider it their real first production Turbo car. The 335i was with the N54 twin turbo engine. Which they wanted so much to make sure that it wasn't going to have problems due to the Turbos charging that they put forged internals into the bottom end. They also knew they had been considering the change over to turbo power for the next M3 and knew they could make much better power using much less gasoline. So they had designed the N54 engine with the possibility of Turbo charging the next car and this was going to be their experimental platform (Not totally but they have admitted this) so they were going to keep their eyes on them closely while designing the next M3. Well it far out performed all expectations by a huge margin especially once the tuner community got hold of it. Then they made the 2011 1M (mot the M1 of course because that was the name of the first "M" car)using bits and pieces from whatever they wanted or needed. Okay I'm done for today as I'm not getting paid for this "Off the top of my memory pod" info. LOL. All the best and go in Pieces of M cars! LOL. .
I don’t have an m3, but I do have an F87 M2 Comp. Hands down the closest M car to the old 2 door M3, easily the best car I have ever owned. F series M’s are some of the most beautiful cars they have made, really worth buying one if the G8X series is out of reach.
I still own my e46m3…it’s a 2002 manual in silver and I never plan on selling. Parked next to my 02 Honda s2k…if I have a bad day, I’m taking one of those two cars out and all my worries melt away. Highly recommend since I think the e46M still reins supreme next to the e30M…
I have a manual E46 M3 sitting in the garage with 80,000 miles on it now. My 17 yr old son keeps taking the M3 out now and I told him he could have it. I have the full Dinan suspension and stage 2 tune with 19” HRE wheels. I added ppf to the front end and rear fenders. It was freshly detailed and ceramic coated. I used to have a yellow Integra Type R as well which I now regret selling. I daily drive a Tesla Model 3 Performance on Mountain Pass Performance coil overs and 20” zero g wheels. My wife drives the Model Y Performance. I also have a fully modified 4Runner for off road duties. Looking to add a 911 S.
@@BPF80MCar-vi1pg As of April 18th I have 1 year with the new G87 M2. Love it. About the same size as my E92 M3. I own a house too lol!! Skipped the F series cars. Lame.
Been fortunate enough to have everything from the 2002 Turbo, M535i, 325is, E36 M3(a turbo 3.0 and one nitrous 3.2), E46 M3, the E92 V8 manual & an E60 M5 F10 & M4 comp. Driving the m2 made me feel closest to that original excitement. Still. Too many driver aids cutting in to stop the fun... Like go back to driver mods to not crash 😂
Btw, I also had access to a e30 with full E46 CSL inside of it... Think about what an E30 with that motor did to a stock R35 😂 bro I can't even joke about how bad that went for the Japs that 1 time we went full retard!!!
I have been the happiest dude on earth with my cheap manual E92 M3. I had all non M generations of 3 series and I like the shape of E92 the most so I got it as an M3. It's slow, clunky 6 speed mt, getting outdated features, but I do love it so much and I can't get enough of the sound of the thing and how predictable it is when losing the back end.
Had a 2002 E46 M3 and agree is was a great car- sorry I parted with it before getting a 2007 CTS-V. Next was a 2011 E90 M3 which I really loved and only recently sold before picking up a 2024 G80 M3 Comp X-drive. E9x is all the performance anyone really needs. Hydraulic steering was way better than the drive by wire system in the G80. Letting the DCT shift way faster than a manual at 8300 redline was nirvana and like a cheap Ferrari. I like my G80 but it feels like a much bigger and luxurious car. The low end torque is incredible compared with the E90. I've never driven an F80. However, you can't use the full performance of the G80 on the street and can't make a full power run up through the gears before hitting arrest me speeds in a few seconds.
For me,the M3 died when it became 4 door, But BMW, in their infinite wisdom, gave us the M1 M2, for 2 door coupe fans, However, for me, ultimate M3 time was the E46
The M3 csl e46 is a masterpiece pure driving experience. And besides that legends never die unless they get forgotten. EV's have zero future and never worked when it was firstly invented and now a days it still has to many flaws and setbacks. Synthetic E-Fuels are the way to go.
E46 is imo the best looking M3 and is of course my favorite gen. Sadly I think the timing of it's transition from depreciating to collectable means I won't ever be able to own one. The price for a good examples is too expensive for a non-daily at my income level. Once can dream...
Dude you can do it, Don't say you can't, learn about money making skills, I ain't gonna sell you a "get rich scam haha" but you can make your dreams come true
this generation of cars will continue to February of 2027. I currently own a 2024 G80. depends on situation I might keep or order another to replace this one towards end of 2026. chances are the next gen M3 will be based on the Neu Class and it'll have some sort of hybrid system like the in-coming G90 M5.
The E30 didin't sell? Dude, they made 5000 just for homologation and were negative that they will sell well... But after winning everything on the planet, customers wanted an M3, and demand was so big, that they couldn't produce them fast enough. They were flying off the shelves, they just couldn't produce enough of them to meet the demand. More than 18,000 were made, which is more than 3 times as much as they expected to sell even in their most positive reports. E46 333hp only in the US, in Europe, it made 343hp in the normal M3 and 360hp in the CSL My favorite is the E46 M3, just because I am a sucker for a nice NA I6, high-revving sound, couple that with a supercharger so you don't kill off the sound and you have all the power you will ever need in a RWD car. I will own an ICE car for as long as it is possible to drive one on the road. The whole green agenda targeting the cars as the reason for global warming is bullshit, it is just made so that people can buy newer, electrified (both hybrid and EV) cars, take loans and so on... Its just a scam made from governments and banks.. If they forbid me to drive my E46 on the road, I ain't buying a new electric car, I will find a crashed Tesla, Porsche or whatever and I am putting those electric motors in my car, registering it as an EV and thats it. But I won't fall for a scam, which is the "you need to buy a new car, take a loan if you cant afford one" scenario, because thats dumb and brutal.
What I hate about bmw the same could be said for Audi is and Chevrolet ? Is that they have too many sedans even many of their mainline coupe cars have sedans variants. I know the Dodge Charger was a coupe for the first 3 generations and turned into both coupe and sedan in the 4th gen, but it doesn't make sense to kill off the Challenger again
Okay you did okay but really you messed up the evolution of the E30 altogether by skipping the First road going "M" car the E28 M5 (or at first it was actually called the M535I and then the M5) and the fact that it got the engine from out of the M1 with all 6 cylinders. and it was only after THAT that they decided to try and cut two cylinders off of the Race derived 6 Cylinder ROAD car and put it into the the E30. . !'m Sorry but this is the age of the internet. Ya gotta get with it boys. LOL. Great Video. Thank you. Just FIX IT!!!! LOL. (I know you won't).
I owned a M4 for a few years and upgraded to a 911 Turbo. I loved the M4 and would probably still own it if it were a manual, I had the DCT. It was fun, but as fun as a manual. Great car nonetheless.
My step father had a o4 m3 that he boosted and had dropped an AWD conversion into. I wish he didn’t end up selling it while I was in high-school back in the day. I would have loved to own that car, it was so fast even though it was only 500 to the wheels.
I doubt BMW will be getting rid of the M3 any time soon more then likely it’s going to follow the footsteps of the upcoming M5 and it will be a hybrid but only time will tell
The last m3 was the e 92 after that it ended. Fake sound from speakers, insulated, electric stearing ,bad sound . There is no m3 after that. So 2024 should be 2013
