Sonny & Bobby were giants in the Bluegrass industry. They were the first to rearrange hrmonies with the lead on top. They were first on a lot of things in Bluegrass. Outstanding musicians, vocalists, and innovators.. Legends intheir own time, their legacy is without equal. .
I have been a HUGE Osborne Brothers fan ever since I was a little girl. My 2 brothers & I grew up listening to their music. The people of Pike County, Ohio were even blessed with their appearance on the stage of the Pike County Jamboree as the honored guests. I have 2 pictures of them that my Mom took all those years ago. When my Mom passed away in 2007, I sang their version of "Medals for Mother's" at her funeral. Their music will live on in the hearts of so many Osborne Brothers fans for all eternity. Some of my favorite Osborne Brothers songs are: Fair and Tender Ladies, The Cuckoo Bird, Rocky Top, Roll Muddy River, World of Unwanted, Memories Never Die, Ruby. Actually every song that I ever listened to them sing was my favorite. Rest in Peace Bobby & Sonny. ❤ ❤
Sonny and Bobby were my second cousins on my mom's side(Roark. ) Met them at a concert in Dayton when I was 7. My dad had a new Ford and Bobby tried to trade him their tour bus. Lol
@@FactsVerse Rocky Top, In The Pines, and Ruby. It was a 65 Ford Galaxy 500 white with blue interior. We had just got it. My mom sent them a note which they read out loud on stage. Sent someone to bring us to meet them afterwards. Saw a couple of times on interviews where they joked with Bobby about trading cars. It was true and I still remember being disappointed because Sonny wouldn't let him trade the bus.
7:54. My uncle Austin was general manager of radio station WTIK in Durham. He also promoted country concerts in Raleigh. The Osbornes performed quite a bit for these shows, and Uncle Austin and Bobby were good friends. I was always there, close to the stage, taking in every note. I was always in awe of their talent and musicianship.
Bluegrass would not have been the same without the Osborne Brothers. I know they’re singing and playing in the bluegrass festival in the sky that’s a Tom T. Hall song you need to listen to it it’s got everybody in it.
The Osborne Bros were truly great….blue grass music never sounded so good!!! I had the honor of 🎉💖lseeing them perform in the early ‘70s & was mesmerized!!!💖🤗 Plus I’ve watched many RU-vid Videos of my favorite songs!!! RIP Bobby & Sonny 🙏🙏. My dad use to listen to these guys when I was a kid & I like them as an adult so sad older musicians are all leaving is. I'm just so glad they left us with alot of great music & memories I remember my dad playing rocky top by these guys. R.I.P OSBORNE BROTHERS
I had the unbelievable privilege of playing Sonny's 6 (six) string banjo when the McLain Family Band came to Brazil. He gave that banjo to Raymond McLain who let me play it to my heart's desire!
I have the opportunity to hear The Osborne Brothers back in 1979 when they were part of the Grand Ole Opry roadshow that went on tour. I saw them and what was then known as the Capitol Center just outside of Washington DC. Good times.
My Uncle, Terry Smith, Played with the Osborne Brothers for a long time . Several Band members then had a stint as Dolly Parton's Bluegrass Band Before Forming what is now known as, "The Grascals".
Sorry but i never heard of them and sorry for the fans who did love them. I think i will go listen to some songs to see what they sounded like. Thanks for their story.
I remember them. I wasn’t a huge fan. But I think they we’re one of the best of the music they play. I liked them. They we’re good but I had to be in a mood to hear them. The same with any kind of music. I love the Beatles. And 60s classic rock and pop. The 80s was. Good decade for music and movies. They can’t play movies even Close to “Fast Times at Ridgmont High.” Today. They can’t even play songs that have a offensive word. Because someone might get Triggered! That’s why the actors are on strike. It’s not much of a loss. No more decent actors who don’t get into politics.
