More than 5,000 soldiers have taken part in the Canadian Army’s largest exercise of the year. For two weeks, soldiers from Canada, the UK, US and France have been part of Exercise Maple Resolve at the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre in Alberta. Nearly 100 of those are from the British Army, with the exercise pitting two forces against each other, culminating in one final battle.

The good thing a bout the Canadians is they have enough room to hold war games on piece's of land bigger then some Countries ! and yes they are well known to be good soldiers , and yes they need a budget increase is right, BUT ! being American who has trained with the Canadians many year's ago, it is funny that they always get the job done no matter what equipment they have... I would fight with them any time, it is nice to see Allies train together.

Just for those who arent aware: the DTES/MILES kit theyre using is all gps linked. Obviously for direct fire, the sensors on the helmet/vest pick up the lasers, but for IDF its literally a GPS kill area. Itll randomise what injuries you have and the like. Bit annoying but the only way to get actual cover from the GPS kill areas on IDF is to have special GPS units placed in your trenches to 'upgrade' them into bunkers which can take a few hits...when they work. Nothing more annoying than getting 'killed' by a mortar that landed 80 metres away on the other side of a massive bun line just as youre about to brass up an unsuspecting platoon with a gpmg. Really good kit otherwise though.

@@doughook4287 BS. We only spend 0.9 % of GDP on defense. Yes our soldiers are trained well, but truth be known. Is we rationalize being neighbors to the US means we can live under their umbrella. @@Kman31ca The country as a whole needs reform in a lot of places. At this point it just feels like the government wants this country under absolute control before everything else, a strong military would be the primary obstacle of that. The US government has to fear their own military and rightfully so, that's why they are so necessary.

Canadian doctrine is definitely more laissez-faire. They're provided with main objectives and broken down into smaller squads with the autonomy to make decisions on the fly. No amount of planning or structure can prepare you for when nothing goes as planned. That's why we believe in creating competent decision makers who can roll with the punches and get the job done.

You just can't stick to your line of fox holes when you know for sure that an attack is on it's way. At the very least every fire team should be assigned a secondary position that is both close to their fighting position and capable of at least making it more unlikely they are taken out by fire support assets that are sure to pepper their positions before the enemy ever tries to close in. Code words can be set to stand for different predetermined manouvers such as, get to your secondary safe position, and swap to the firing position.

There were only 2 bars in the town when l was there in the ' 70s . Shuffleboard at the local hotel was very popular , but our camp NAAFI with higher alcohol content was popular with guests. 7 Para RHA , were due to be disbanded on return to U.K. This vid will bring back many memories l am sure , much appreciated . Well done to C Company in your endeavors at Camp Wainwright .. .. You just can't beat excellent training and getting pushed to your limits .. .. at times you find new limits and other times you learn more about your old ones .. .. limits both the physical and the mental ones.. An old foe Napoleon once said that he required two things of his officers and soldiers .. .. courage and endurance .. "but by far the endurance is the most important of the two.." Endurance is a learned ability or skill .. indeed in many ways it is 'earned' by being pushed to ones limits in excellent training.. Great job by those Canadian Blue and Orange force commanders!! Technically if you analyze the dialog, the Brits got steamrolled on their retreat. Brits were on day 5 (zone 5) on day 4. Meaning they took heavier casualties, and had to give up a whole delaying day's worth of ground. Thus, they didn't quite achieve their objective. But given the out numbered and out armored state. That is well done for surviving 4 out the planned 5 days.

Whoopsie! and he couldn't fathom associating with her any more because he knew he'd get in trouble from the person he filed for leave with for knowingly setting out to visit a person that had a marijuana association.
