@supernutkin5122
@supernutkin5122 2 года назад
The Welsh Guards waited and waited and waited because their Welsh Guards officer in charge of them, a WG Major, refused to order his men off the Sir Galahad. He was asked, then ORDERED, to get his men off the ship by a Royal Marines Major who knew the terrain and the danger they were in, but they refused. This RM Major (Ewen Southby-Tailyour) was an expert in beach landings and knew the Falklands and landing areas like the back of his hand.

40 years ago now. That's crazy. I joined the Royal navy a week after 9/11. Destroyer HMS Edinburgh. They were still using the same radar system they used during the Falkland war. The Argentina pilots were good pilots. They just couldn't compete with our fire power

Yet AGAIN the lead pictures are of the cabbageheads. Youd think there was no one else there. No piccies of 2 Para going at the same time. lets be frank. The hardest battles in that conflict were carried out by 2 and 3 Para AND the Scots Guards. Sending 2 Para with zero tracked support against Goose green was a disgrace.
@JammyDodger45
@JammyDodger45 2 года назад
The attack on Goose Green had NGFS, a light artillery gun line and dedicated FGA. The reason it didn't have light armour is predominantly due to the terrain, the long forward slope approach into a low valley would have made them easy meat as they'd have needed to sit in the open in full sight of the enemy to use their guns. I'm not sure why you think the Para battles were the hardest, I'd argue that 3 Para had the simplest assault but their plan made it difficult for themselves!

The Falklands don't cost anything to Britain, being self sufficient.
