When Andy Roddick was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Tennis Channel was able to sit down with his wife, model and actress Brooklyn Decker, to learn the story behind how they first met.
Roddick will always be underrated IMO. He was in the top 10 for pretty much most of his career. I think for almost 10 yrs and did it in a time where the big 4 were in their prime too (Fed, Murray, Djok, Rafa). Not too shabby.
He is not underrated. His coach destroyed his game. Brad Gilbert. He managed to bring it back up, but according to him, the game had completely changed. And he could not beat the top three. If we go into details, Gilbert wanted the serve as the weapon. I would have told him to go towards improving his volleys and back hand. Even if he reduces the serve speed. Federer was also questioned about handling the serve speeds from his peers, he said, you get used to it. Its harder to get used to well placed shots so my point on volleys and backhand.
Last American MAN! I think SERENA has won about 20 since Andy won his 1! Let's NOT forget VENUS! AND MOST RECENTLY SLOANE STEPHENS!! THEY ARE American! WOMEN!!!!
Donaldson and Fritz are still young, and they actually have decent BHs. I wouldn't lump them in with Querrey, Isner or Young. Not to mention, Tiafoe and Opelka have bright futures as well.
how ironic and sweet that she saw Andy after the WORST match of his life (the 2007 aussie open presser after the SF with Roger) and saw the class and grace beneath the sarcasm
You can tell he truly Truly loves her just by how he speaks about her. Also by how he’s changed because of her. I believe she’s made him a deeper and better person. 🥘
I was always curious how some players come finally decide to retire. And it's interesting to hear that And didn't decide until that morning to retire. It wasn't something he had been pondering for months, though he had talked about it.
So indirectly, Roger Federer helped Andy get his gf/wife by crushing him in that game, causing his black humor at the press conference! You just never know what something is good for or where it may lead (this also proves once more that women in general value humor over looks - not that Andy isn't handsome, but I mean, she already knew what he looked like XD)
Woman value status more than looks. Being a top tennis player has a certain amount of status. If he was just as funny but was flipping burgers I don't think she would be with him. Models and professional athletes often end up together.
Its kinda incredible that Brooklyn ignored Andy for 5 months. Really shows you how difficult women can be even though it could be their dream husband at stake.
Well ye no shit. If Andy Roddick was unemployed with social anxiety then obviously he wouldn’t get a super model. He’d struggle to get anyone under those circumstances. But he isn’t though, he’s a highly successful athlete so what’s your point?
Roddick was old news by 2009. Had Nadal not been injured, he would have beaten Roddick 6-4, 6-3, 7-5 in the semis. Fed just played like shit most of that match.
How did you measure the scoreline of a match that never happened? 😂 More like he'd lose just like he lost to Darcis and Rosol. Stop making a fool of yourself.
