It won't put that much into the pockets of middle class people and lower class people already benefit form things like no VAT on essentials and/or already benefit from tax deductions anyway. There's a reason energy and rail price increases routinely exceed inflation by quite some margin. The consumer-provider power balance is heavily skewed in favour of the provider, because you can't walk away from the table and not buy energy or a train to work or cancer treatment. Fat Cats and CEOs provide an extra layer of profit extraction and waste, nothing more.

The private sector and the public seem to have a very one sided relationship. The pain of this crisis needs to be shared rather than let it just crush working people.
