Fun fact though. Z Broly has apparently commited Kakarot's scent to memory. This is most easily noticed in Xenoverse 2 where if Goku is your mentor, and you speak to him, he demands to be taken to him. This is further reflected in his battle dialogue with Raditz where he notes that it's confusing that it's not Kakarot. I also vaguely recall he also calls Goku Black a "fake Kakarot" in the Infinite History DLC story but I don't remember that too well.
BUT MASAKO!!!! Given the lore of the tree from Xenoverse and the movies; the Tree of Might, or the Shinseiju (edit), is a tree that is meant to be eaten by gods. The Tree of Might is not inherently evil, it just has such a high cost of maintaining it that most planets can't handle it without dying. The Sacred World of The Kais is a planet that is more than capable enough of handling the tree without dying, it has just that much life force that it can sustain itself and the Tree of Might. Elder Kai commented that Turles must have smuggled some fruit and seeds, as both him and King Kai acknowledge that only Gods are supposed to eat it. On Planet Vampa, it wouldn't last long because Vampa may have life, but it is a veritable wasteland, reliant on the predator/prey relationship between the giant green beasts and the monstrous bugs.
I kind of want to see Turles actually be some kind sayain and other alien hybrid, it would be a different way to bring in the concept of a hidden sayains and bring in the idea that sayains or people with sayain blood could be anywhere look like anything and show up at anytime to cause trouble.

I think we can get Turles in Dragon Ball in three ways. First way: What you suggested. Second way: I brought this up in the Pikkon video, you can use Chill to gather other Saiyans that gave Frieza the slip. Turles, being a rebel by nature, often buts heads with him, leaving him to be the most used test subject. This could also bring Super Saiyan four in as a product of science and genetic tempering. Turles and the other Saiyans start acting a bit crazy and more feral as time goes on. Third way: We use Tarble to get Turles back. Turles makes his way up the ranks to a mid-class warrior, mainly due to brains, and ends up working with Tarble. Tarble doesn't like how Frieza treats his father, and Turles... Is still a rebel that doesn't like leadership. King Vegeta banishes Turles for openly questioning Frieza's rule. Tarble leaving the royal family seeing that his main ally and maybe friend is, in his mind, unjustly removed from the Saiyan people. Vegeta then does a prideful "You just proved why you can't be the King, you care to much for- Blah blah blah weakling, blah blah blah pride, blah blah blah prince of all Saiyans." Tarbles says something about not everything being about strength and joins Turles to become space pirates.
Sadly I am only counting 4 in terms of being Dopplegangers & not Relatives. Goku, Puppet Goku, Turles, & Goku Black. Bardock, Goten, & Goku Jr. are their own characters especially in NonCanon Material.

I would make Turles still related to Goku, we see that hair is kind of a family mark with Saiyans, with Goku and his kids, and Vegeta and his dad So with would say that Turles is Goku's cousin, just give Bardock a brother, and Turles is his kid

Wasn't the colour of the scouters supposed to tell the difference between low/mid/and Élite class warriors? If I recall correctly, the green scouters were used by the low class saiyans such as Bardock and Raditz. The blue scouters were used by mid class warriors such as Nappa. And the red ones were used by the Élite Saiyans. So Turles must have been an Élite; or maybe he just stole that kind of scouter.
Masako in xenoverse 2 didn't nappa say turles was sent on a secret mission when u have him as a mentor, so couldn't this mean that the Saiyan's where searching for the tree all along... I might be wrong but that's what I remember
I like turles more for nostalgia, though Zamasu is definitely a much more compellingly written character. I've actually been thinking of reworking turles since the broly movie came out and you started making videos on how to reintroduce movie villains. After hearing your ideas its helped put a few more things in perspective and I've redone some of my original idea. Thanks for another great video!
Another interesting note is that in Shin Budokai 2 for the PSP, Bardock's opening dialogue when facing adult Gohan is "Hm? You look familiar... Are you Turles' son?"
what in the dbza version of super android 13 when vegeta counts 8 androids so far in total and asks if there are anymore goku finally remembers android 8 but decides not to say anything because android 8 isn't evil but it does cut briefly to android 8 sneezing

Your idea fixes the biggest problem I've had with Turles for a while. Going back to the video games, I appreciated the fact that they gave Turles more context and more chances to show off his intellect (his debate with Zamasu in the xenoverse dlc was really neat) but it was so frustrating to see him stuck in the same role. All these years later, he was still just a villain that shows up early on and then gets thrown off to the side never to be seen again (just like Raditz). This happened in Xenoverse, Legends, Heroes, and a couple others. With all the new saiyans getting SSJ like it's nothing, it's so weird that Raditz and Turles still can't go SSJ1 (even in DB:Heroes).

That is a Project of himself called "DBZ Redux", where he try to merge canon and non canon story. This idea comes exactly from his art "DBR Squad 0410" where he describes Bardock's Older Brother (Kalab), his wife (Rhub), Kid Turles and his team members (Pumbkin, Korn, Jaga, Mahto).

Here's a idea on how Turles can make his canon debut. During the battle between Goku, Vegeta & Broly in DBS: Broly, Frieza may have swipe samples of Goku & Vegeta's blood from their beating unnoticed. And after retreating Frieza sets out to find brilliant minds from other planets and threatens them to create the ultimate warrior using the blood samples he took. After pain-staking months they ended up creating a saiyan warrior clone resembling Goku but possess a saiyan pride of Vegeta. Earning the name Turles he is told to obey his only master which is Frieza, however he refuses and escapes in search of strong warriors to fight. That was when the scientists discover an massive glitch in the cloning process discovering that Turles would eventually become mentally unstable and become a mindless animal hellbent on destroying everything. That was when Frieza informs them to try again after murdering one of the scientists and warns them "no screw ups!" Eventually they would finally make the perfect warrior in the form of Janemba!
The idea is rather interesting. It can also lead to a unique spin off of the mystic from that Gohan achieved, that or another spin on SSB. You could also play with the idea of people that consume the fruit of the tree to give them the power to deal perma death like demons to add a level of higher stakes. The tree could a tree from the demon realm instead of a corrupted kai tree.
I think we can raise the stakes a bit more with the Tree of Might; have it originate from the demon realm. We've yet to see much of it in the series since Dabura in the Buu saga. Perhaps the trees were used to drain universe 7 planets, being part of the reason why there's so few populated worlds. The tree's use could even have major repercussions were Zeno to learn about its use, giving a possible threat that U7 could be erased if things get out of hand. Plus, it would help expand on the dichotomy of the Kais and demons.
@@bestgamesandamva That would be cool, but as Masako stated Turles doesn't have enough of his own personality, he wouldn't be a compelling "good guy character." He'd just be Bardock from SDBH but somewhat smarter, with pinches of Vegeta and Raditz in him.
Turles is almost like an alternate history goku, like what if planet vegeta was never blown up and goku was raised a saiyan he would probably end up like turles
I love the idea of a smart Saiyan scheming against everyone and biding his time to gain the strength necessary to make a move. I just hope that if something like this does happen, Turles won't lose his intellect and become a brainless bruiser once he gets strong. I think it would be cool to see him run tests on himself so that he can accurately measure the risks his experiments will have on him, and take the necessary steps to ensure he can gain perfect control or his new power. He could also have an army of ruined, monstrous test subjects at his disposal. Cliche, I know, but I still think it would be cool. As for Turles' hair style, maybe he could just wear his hair back like Goku did in the Arale episode from Super, and then it could miraculously grow and look wild as a side effect of his experiments. Or maybe, they could give him a similar hair style as Super Saiyan 4 Goku.
Hey Masako! I'd like to see what you think about the Super Dragon Ball Heroes villain Hearts. I think his motives are pretty interesting, wanting to overtake the gods and all, and he could be brought to the main canon in some later saga. Nice video👍
turles can be reintroduced as a universe 6 counterpart for goku, much like frost is to freeza. given that goku is the exception to the rule of "evil saiyan who pillages worlds", in the context of universe 6, turles would be the exception to the rule of "good saiyan fighting for peace on other planets"
What if he specifically altered his appearance to look like Goku to pass himself off as the legendary warrior that defeated Freeza. I could see him being a warlord pirate that emerged following the decline of the Freeza Force and claiming credit for taking Freeza out would be a good way to build up his cred and attract renegades to his cause.
Given that Time Rings have established that there's several timelines with multiple universes in them, it's entirely possible for Turles to come from one of these realities. Similar to how Cell and Future Trunks both come from alternate future timelines, separate from one another. Turles could be a Goku who actually accomplished his original mission to conquer Earth and then teamed up with Raditz to abandon the Freiza Force and forge their own path. Becoming space pirates or a rival group to Freiza's own forces, the duo eventually seek out seeds for the Tree and and in the process maybe steal some time rings, that eventually allow them to travel in time and end up in the present day Universe 7? I'm also cool with Turles being from the main timeline and Universe 7 as suggested in this video, I think that would also work really well.
As to the hair, you could have that be part of the corruption of the Tree of Might. Maybe the Divine ki he uses is corrupted somehow; the more he uses it, the more damage he does to himself, ultimately to the point where his own energy would consume him?
If Turles is that smart, and was a scientist, he could bio engineer a tree that made fruit to make himself more powerful. It wouldn't need to be a divine tree per say, though I do like that idea as well. Good video Masako. I definitely enjoyed thinking up a story for this one
I like the idea of Saiyan with a scientific mind; if I were to pitch a story going forward, it would go something like this: Turles was a field researcher for the Frieza Force; one of those people who scouted out planets of interest before the empire began negotiations/sent out Frieza's enforcers. In a similar manner to Lord Chilled in the Bardock special, he discovered a planet with a peculiar variety of plant life. He would then be approached by Kibito; threatened with swift and certain death, the barters for his life. The world of the Kais kept secret, in exchange for a piece of fruit from the tree of might.
What if Turles was the Universe 13 equivalent of Goku? With 17's wish to revive all Universes that Zeno wiped out, the 6 destroyed universes before the Tournament of Power may come back too, and with them could come Turles.
I'm honestly kind of surprised that you didn't suggest a Gohan driven story with how you made a nod at Turles recognizing his potential, and his fascination as a hybrid (and with the idea of Lord Slug being a Piccolo villain as interesting parallels for the two characters) Although the idea of him manipulating Broly is a good one too that I never thought of. Maybe to distinguish himself from Goku, Turles has an injury or scar (or even loss of a limb? CYBORG ARM) which could be from Frieza, and therefore gives him a reason to WANT to take him down in the first place. Perhaps Turles and his crew are wanted by the Galactic Patrol, or even by the Supreme Kais themselves for his actions with the Tree of Might, or even both? Hell, if you want to make him a scientist, make him a brilliant mastermind of a villain instead of a direct, outright powerhouse.
They could put it anywhere in the past but not say anything about that fact until the end when we see Goku telling Goten a bedtime story. Or they could do that but Princess Bride style where Goten occasionally interrupts Goku. They could do Boujack simularly with Gohan telling a story to Pan. Also Deadzone with Piccolo telling Pan a story. Hatchiak (sp?) story could be Vegeta trying to put Bulla/Bra to sleep. Could make this a whole filler season while the writers come up with new ideas. PS: Evil Goku should have an evil goatee.
Vegeta's hair cut from GT might had been a day that he was training with Krillin and he missed a destructo disk attack, causing the haircut. :P For the Turles part, I did enjoy the part that he would had been a exiled scientist yet something kept popping in my head, can lower class saiyans have a concept of cousins? A blood relationship that could kind off explain the having the same hair doe as Goku just like the concept of us humans having a doppelganger... whom is NOT related to each other yet look a like.
I've developed a fanfic in my head for years where Turles never came to Earth and instead focused on space pirating and building his strength. Maybe even facing Cooler before the latter went to Earth and unlocking SSJ. Turles would then go on to conquer his own corner of the universe after Frieza disappears on Namek. Decades later maybe Post Buu Saga, after consuming countless fruits of might and training with his Crusher Corps subordinates, Turles finds himself bored with dominating every warrior he's come accross throughout the universe. Turles then turns to figure out what happened to Frieza and King Cold, discovering Earth and its warriors in turn. Sending his henchmen to probe the power of the Earthlings, Turles' underlings invite an unwitting Goku to tour Turles' empire, ending with a confused Goku eventually meeting Turles. Having accidentally revealed Earth having Dragon Balls, Goku finds himself facing someone powered by the energy of countless planets wanting to conquer Earth and use the dragon balls for his own gain, for example eternal youth. Escaping narrowingly with his life via instant transmission, Goku urges Earth to prepare for war. The final battle for the Dragon Balls and the fate of the universe is next...
My gut theory for how to revive Turles? Make him the "Universe 6 Goku". Now we know that the connected Universes don't have 1 to 1 exact characters, but they do have similar characters: Beerus and Champa, Kale and Broly with their Berserker SSJ forms. Maybe Turles was a Decorated Universe 6 Officer who under-covered a sinister plot of the Supreme Kais of Universe 6 (because we know nothing of them). He investigated the case and flew too close to the sun, so to speak. The Kais leaned heavily on the Sayian Police and Turles was kicked out. But when he left, he took some of his most loyal officers (minions) and some "evidence" from the case (Tree of Might). In this scenario, the Tree of Might was a failed experiment of the Kais and it costs the demise of some planets. Theme of the movie would be what if Goku suffered a traumatic event? Kind of like the Batman/Joker themes of just "One Bad Day" being all it takes to go from Hero to Villain.
Before dragonball minus there was a fan comic that painted turles as an illegitimate son of bardock and a member of raditz’s juvenile crew. They had to win a tournament to gain the right to go on missions. It went on from there but it was dope. It’s on expergamers channel somewhere
Yeah one aspect i did like about Turles was his "politeness" for lack of a better word while being completely evil. It's suppose to be the opposite of goku's laid-back goodies two shoes style but it made a good counterpoint to the sadistic freeza and the ball of arrogance and pride that was the prince at the time.
I am currently writing a fanfic about Turles, kinda trying to rewrite him and make him work into the story from the destruction of Planet Vegeta until the Broly movie, right now it's over 80 pages long and and I only reached the Boo Saga, I'm doing him as a lonely mercenary who works all across the universe
Could have him with the same hairstyle as Goku in the scene showing him being banished. As for Vegeta changing his hairstyle in GT, from what I recall there was something about him having to cut it daily or it would have returned to how it was beforehand.
I would like this idea to be true but I would add 1 thing, instead of being a outcast rebel from the sayian race here, but instead be an evil sayian from universe 6. Integrate the dragon universe into it, put the tree on the sadala from universe 6 and have cabba ask for help from vegeta and stuff. It would both bring the character back to light, give him a reason to look like goku but not be an exact copy or even need to use the excuse of "Sayian with simillar genetics" and it would also give us the adventures in other universes that we want
I think that's part of the reason why Turles has had a hard time. Yes the Big Green Dub is classic, but that's one of the biggest reasons we remember Turles.

Ginyu Goku is more like Goku Black than Turles(you know, body stealing) but Turles came around a month before Ginyu Goku. Anyway, I had an idea for Turles a while back. What if he’s an ancient Saiyan who’s been planting the tree of might all of the universe all this time, growing in power by eating its fruit, allowing him to match Goku and Vegeta in his base form. The fruit of the tree of might could even be extending his lifespan so he could live for thousands of years. This could even help explain why Universe 7 has so few planets with life on them(along with Buu’s rampage and Moro’s...buffet?).

I've actually had an idea for a DBZ fanfiction in which Turles is a genetically-enhanced clone of Goku created by Dr. Gero. He's initially refered to as Android 12 until the Saiyan Saga. When Vegeta and Nappa come to Earth, they decide to recruit him and give him a proper Saiyan name. Now named Turles, he betrays both Vegeta and Nappa, steals their ships, and leaves them stranded on Earth.
Maybe Turles can like a brother or twin of Bardock. Thus giving him an excuse to looking similar to Goku. The scientist and finding a cheap way to get power idea would be a great new twist, we haven’t seen that in a villain, at least I can’t remember the last time I saw that (*cough* *cough* Zamasu) and would give him ties with Broly. But also would give him a grudge against Vegeta. And since we know sayians do age like humans thanks to Paragus. He even has a motivation to go to earth or namek with a group of space pirates. Borrowing from the Lord Slug movie, we can have it that Turles goes there to get his youth back, so he could continue his work to find a place to plant the tree of might and achieving Devine energy, finding other ways to get stronger other than that PESTY training.
Turtles could be a minion of Cooler performing an old mission to gain enough power to serve his lord, or search for a way to empower his lord. I do enjoy the wandering warlord with a team of trouble aesthetics he had though... Maybe former Cooler’s minion is best. c: Eloquent Saiyan that doesn’t use the Super Saiyan forms and instead trains and eats fruit to gain power? That’s a decent change of pace. Outside of Xenoverse this could be a great idea. ^w^ If anything the only change we need to do with his appearance only needs to change barely. Maybe he had genetics of Bardock donated in so it just needs to show some traits of a different parentage with it. The same on the whole, but only so slightly different. Maybe the fruit being tainted gives a mix of Godly Ki... and more Primal Ki. Give him Super Saiyan 4!! ÒwÓ
To fix Turles in a sense, you could give him a backstory like Hush in the Batman comic books. Just have Turles be an onlooker from afar or heard about the exploits of Goku. After a while, he has gathered enough information and decides to become like Goku, but the opposite, whereas Goku lives for fighting and correcting wrongs, Turles is causing wrongs and turning good times bad.
Considering how smart Turles is shown to be, I can really see him stacking the deck in his favor. Imagine if the Tree of Might was introduced to canon with a retcon that allowed it to pass on an unstable form of god ki to anyone that imbibed its fruit. Now imagine Turles, through his wayfaring, managed to acquire senzu beans and splice them with the fruit to combine the effects of each and multiply their effects exponentially. From there, we just need a suitable trigger for Super Saiyan (seeing his crew, ship and lifetime research destroyed by Beerus for meddling in godly affairs, or by Frieza in a passing encounter?). From here, he learns to combine the god ki stored in his body with his new power to acquire strength very similar to BoG Goku. Maybe around this time, he learns about these nifty things called Dragon Balls, and that Earth and New Namek each have a full set of 7. One of his motivations becomes to restore his Crusher Corp and his research on the hybrid fruit he created, so as to distribute it among his crew and give them more of a fighting chance or running start if the Destroyer or dictator rear their heads again. From here, I'm out of ideas.
