That Charles speech out the arena is my all time favorite. May not be the most entertaining, but he meant that. Dude really thought he was untouchable and I believed him
It's so personal...it's like he's speaking to you. And after all that savages fights he cries..because he feels it all. Touches my heart, and satisfies my love for mma.
@@isaguerreiro80 yea, his word choice is always very heroic/glory heavy, idk how to explain it he just talks like he is legitimately illuminated, mad respect
That Dustin fight breakdown didn’t do Charles any favors, Charles was so dynamic in his striking that fight and absolutely fucked up dustin with some suffocating ground and pound in that second round
I love Islam Makachev but Charles Do Bronx is something special. He's so charismatic and funny. His fights are always awesome. I just hope the best fighter will win.
Charles is such a good guy man. Throughout this legendary run he has always been doubted, but he kept proving everyone wrong. People judge him way too much for his losses, but he truly is a warrior. Those who are quick to judge him by his losses forget that he entered the UFC when he was 21!! Most of the fighters choose to enter the UFC late in their careers because they want to learn more or stat pad, but the dude went straight to play with the big boys. Of course he would lose and learn, but that is the beauty of do bronx. Never stop working and improving. For example, Khamzat, who is a killer, is 27. Charles at that age was starting this legendary run. Kudos to dana and UFC for not dropping Charles when he was not in his prime
Honestly to me the fact that he won the title and defended it with his style of fighting makes him the MMA GOAT to me. I followed him since he was missing weight at FW and I always thought he'd just be a exciting guy to fill up cards and get bonuses. Jones, Silva, Khabib, GSP and even the current champ Islam have been far more dominant than Charles and its understandable to place them above. Of course haters and detractors fans of other fighters are going to bring up losses/getting finished blah blah but I don't give a hoot. Ultra aggressive kill or be killed just bleed fighters absolutely NEVER make it to the top of the summit in the UFC. They at most get a tonne of performance bonuses. And most exciting just bleed fighters are standup striker guys. Charles is equally aggressive on the ground. He NEVER plays it safe....NEVER tries to win rounds/score points...NEVER tries to grind out decisions or have control time. The fact that he won the belt in such a manner makes him the most unique fighter in MMA history to me.
I get what you're saying but Holloway, Griffin,Lawler were also do or die world champs. Lawler's championship run is the best ever imo so according to your logic he's the GOAT. No hate, love Olives but I think he's a better fighter when he's not do or die and more technical especially with his Muay Thai.
@@ummayyakhan6964 respect what you're saying and even though those guys combined have a few submission wins here or there overall on their records I wouldn't classify any of those guys that made it to the top as guys that go all out offensively as well equally if the fight hits the mat or are equally offensive on the ground as they are standing. And they had some unanimous decisions on their streak to the belt. The only reason Charles didn't finish Tony is because he was stubborn as a mule and refused to tap. Charles always was a ultra aggressive BJJ guy from day one and once he added Chute Boxe Muay Thai....it made him equally aggressive on the feet.
that's why i think if he wins the rematch he woulduld beat volk more decisively than islam did. none of oliveira's fights go to a decision, and if it comes down to who finds the finish first, odds are it'll be charles. volk isn't a huge finisher, oliveira is the most dangerous finisher in the ufc.
Tragic yet beautiful story of Charles do bronx, the fact that he lost his belt makes his story 100x times better adding drama and tragic like in movies. Like star 💫 king of exciting fights!
I think some of his earlier fights need additional context for maximum appreciation. Brookins for example was a great win, at the time of their fight he was 13-3, with a win over Michael Johnson and one his losses being against prime Jose Aldo. As for his losses, Jim Miller is to this day still taking out prospects in the LW division and has the record for most wins in the UFC, Cerrone would later challenge RDA for the LW title and is second to Miller in most wins in the UFC.
i sometimes dream Do Bronx goes to Dana and says: Ma man, i want a new contract. F the belt. You give me whatever 2 years of PPV money and I will fight 12 unranked guys and if I finish them all You give me that HOF while I´m active. Throw a crown on it, belts are for simple man. If not, please release me, I"ll do the same shit wearing the bellator belt.
I'm a huge Charles Oliveira fan! In fact, he's my favorite UFC fighter, but if I'm being perfectly honest, I can't see him beating Makhachev. I'd love nothing more than to be wrong about that, but I just can't see it.
Yo Tj can you make a who’s the 140 pounder in boxing it’s one of the most stacked divisions I remember you made a who’s the best light video but no one there fight each other but everyone at 140 fights each other pls make one
I wanna see Charles take back his title from Islam. I wanna see his face full of pure joy and happiness. His career was a long road with many difficult challenges. I'd like to see him persevere and become a champion again!
I feel like brazilian fighters are so humble that they can't fable being sean o malley, adesanya or mcgregor. They are usually the guys comming to prove themselfs and get the image of the outcast a lot, they stay out of the Internet and you only hear for them when is needed, also the speak barrier makes hard to go wild and send a kanyeish speech.
The UFC lightweight really is the most competitive weight class. Surviving the brawl from Chandler, the knock out power from Gaethje, the well rounded technique from Poirier, the high level jiu jitsu from Oliveira.. When you’re done with all these 4 horsemen. You still have a grizzly Makhachev to beat.
Nothing better than watching a fight being undisputably finished. Not only is he the best finisher of all time. That finish rate with that many fights makes him rightfully in debate to be a possible GOAT. I mean you can even count on him finishing himself if he doesn't finish his opponent.
The way I want this to play out is Dustin vs Justin and Volk vs Charles and then the winter of the to fights face each other for the title shot and the right to go fight Islam
@@grump9283 literally only Khabib and if he beats Islam now Charles is LW GOAT lol his resume is muuch deeper and better than Khabibs and he finished all of Khabibs opponents faster aswell
This might sound harsh but for everyone saying that Benny “deserved to fight for the title” and talking about his good character before the fight, stop it. Benny has real, obvious holes in his striking and people were acting like Charles was gonna get pieced up like Drakkar Klose (a fight Benny nearly lost). It’s aggravates me that fight fans just outright ignore things just because they like their pick that “only the hardcores know”. Be honest about your favorite fighters, plz.
His story is so inspiring and his fights are incredibly entertaining to watch. People always count him out and he usually finds ways to prove everyone wrong.
@TK-oq2hf I'm not talking about score card. I'm talking about prediction before the fight... like some mma tuber even said dariush is more dangerous than makhachev and he beat dariush in 1st round. he is unpredictable.
Oliveira cemented himself as my favorite fighter OF ALL TIME after the Gaethje fight, and that wouldn't have changed even if he never won another fight. It wasn't just because he's probably the most exciting fighter In the ufc, it wasn't because he had a crazy win streak or broke records for finishes and submissions. He is my favorite fighter of all time because he accomplished all of those things despite the fact he grew up in the favelas, despite being almost completely paralyzed and unable to leave the hospital for 2 years with heart murmurs, despite having to relearn how to walk with rheumatoid arthritis, having vision so bad without glasses he's legally blind. He didn't just start his career from the bottom, he had to fight just to get his body to the baseline that most people would start from. The man had to fight for every inch of progress he's made since the day he left the hospital he was stuck in for over a year. Nobody had any right to expect him to live a normal life (his doctors didn't), or expect him to become become a fighter, much less a good one, absolutely nobody could have dreamed he could be a champion. He never escaped his struggles either, he faces more adversity than any other champion had. He's been called a quitter before, and maybe in the past that could have been true, but when he fought gaethje, even knowing that he wouldn't get his belt back even if he won, he still fought like a man defending everything he should have never dreamed of being. Charles is my favorite fighter every time he fights, but whenever I think of his story, how much farther he's had to push himself to go from nearly paralyzed in the favela to the champion of the deepest division in the UFC, calling him my favorite fighter feels inadequate, it doesn't scratch the surface of the indescribable feeling of respect I have for him. A story like his is one I can't find an equal to anywhere else in sports or otherwise. He never seems invincible, he has doubted and let himself down before, he has succeeded and failed, but he has never stopped pushing himself forward. The story of Charles Oliveira is one of the most profoundly human and deeply humbling stories I've ever seen, and that wouldn't have changed for me if he lost against dariush and every fight beyond. If ever there was a fighter or athlete to tell your children about, the story of a paralyzed boy from the slums who became a champion is the most inspiring one by miles.
Ayy yo homies why the hate!? Can I ask you something? What have you 2 done in your life that's even close to what Charlie Olives have accomplished? Anything/something?? Besides wanking on your mom's basement..lol
Wow, inspiring comment, describes why Charles is loved so much here in Brazil, its the face of what Brazillians have to go trough to be sucessfull, and charles went 100 steps further and overcame adversity and doubters and to me, is the most exciting and most skilled fighter in UFC ever, i know Jon jones is the most sucessfull, but the level of Charles Jiu Jitsu is absurd.
Reasons why everybody loves Charles❤️: - always exciting fights - humble and respectful personality - great inspirational role model - had maybe the hardest life out of all UFC fighters and one of the longest ways ever to the title👏
@@toxicking6930 Who had it harder in your opinion? The only one who I would maybe put above Charles is Ngannou Charles grew up in the favelas and had many physical problems and doctors said that he probably won't ever be able to play football Francis on the other side had to go through the whole Sahara desert and escape out of Africa to find a way of making money
The moment when Charles got the belt for the first time was so wholesome✨️ The way he was crying just shows you how happy he was that all the losses he took on the way and all the hard work weren't for nothing🙂
Charles is right now probably my favorite UFC fighter next to Izzy Charles just shows perfectly what you can do with the power of your will if you don't give up
if there's ever a movie about his life, that fight would be the perfect ending, the way he faced adversity in the first round, then came back swinging for the title is straight out of a glorious movie ending
I think you're absolutely right about that contrast between Charles Oliveira and Izzy. Charles immediately captures the hearts of everyone by being so humble it's incredible.
@@STiergoofball he's a great of this era as a fighter for sure but his personality is very annoying tbh and he is easily unlikable. Charles on the other hard is one of the easiest fighters to like.
@@grump9283 Yeah that is true But when we talk about fighting it doesn't really matter what human being you are to be fair Jon Jones is also not really a good human but he is the GOAT still Izzy is kinda goofy, but he for sure belongs into the top 10 greatest MMA fighter of all time list and he is the second greatest MW of all time
Charles is the definition of determination. I’ve never seen someone come back like he has. When he was defeated by Paul Felder after a pretty decent run at 155 he looked hollowed and defeated. I truly can’t say I ever seen a fighter look so devastated. I really didn’t think he could come back from that but then look at what he’s become. Lesson is to never give up or count someone out after a fall. Just get back up and hit back harder
I like Charles because there's no mistake that he is absolutely taking on the toughest fights for him. There's always the argument that if someone is really good, they 'd just steamroll all their competition. On the flip side, if the fighter is so dominant, there's a big chance that their matchups are just not on their level. Charles has taken some losses, and in many of his fights, he's put into hot water. Every single fighter is a tough matchup for him and in many cases he comes out on top and in exciting fashion. That's why he's so loved. He's not taking safe routes ever
Charles was magnificent in his Muay Thai in that Gaethje fight. Gaethje didn't landed any leg kicks after the first minute and he's getting tagged by Charles in the body and in the head over and over, Gaethje was in panic mode when his leg kicks aren't hitting its target that's why he was swinging wildly and hoping those shots land and KO Charles immediately.
I never liked that Gaethje vocally disrespected wrestling as not real fighting, and as much as I respect him, I find it funny that he lost by submission in every title fight and no other fights.
My favorite fighters are Charles and poatan, they both have amazing stories and are the most exciting fighters currently! I wish both of them get their belts !!!
It's his intensity for me. He believes every word he says and his eyes are so focused and filled with fire when he's locked in. Going from a guy who rolled over and quit when things didn't go his way to a blood and guts warrior was legendary. It looks like he's ready to go to war before every fight, and he only seems to get more intense when it's over. He bounced back like a champ after the Islam loss and made the improvements to be better than ever and overcame his mental struggles. He's like a real life anime character, he's awesome. Edit: And he doesnt need to talk trash and disrespect his opponent. He just does his thing and shows mad respect when it's over, no matter the result.
Nah man, I stayed with Do Bronx this entire last 8 months. When so many were calling him broken, 'Olitapper', predicting he'd go on a 2-3 fight losing skid, was a 'paper champion' who only beat strikers. Then he comes back, kills the 8 fight streak of a 3 time world no Gi grappling champion like Beneil, who had just dismantled the Gamrot (who Khabib called a future contender and had fought evenly with Tsarukyan, the same Arman who everyone said outside of Dariush, in a rematch, would be Islam's biggest threat). And then Charles forces Beneil to fight his fight, pressures him, out grapples and destroys him. This fight did so much good for Charles' legacy.
One thing that is funny Khabib fans say that he only defeated strikers But he literally finished Khabibs best enemies faster than Khabib did So it's basically a self diss for them lol
Yeah man I’ve never rooted for anyone as much as I have for this man. There’s just something about him. Definitely my fav fighter on the entire roster followed by khamzat, jones, Conor
They posted a Jarred Connonier top finishes and are all from unranked or outside top 5 ranked fighters. Charles in contrast has finishes from everyone in the top 5.
olivera is the Robert Whittaker of 155lbs weightclass. Hes the one who beat the most people, the class, has a better track record than the champ, and more credentials, but lost to the champ. and tbh may be better than the champ, just struggle to beat that one person
First fight of his I watched was his utter dismantling of El Cucuy and boy did I not realize what a ride we’d be in for. Charlie Olives has won our hearts and support through sheer brilliance in the cage and class outside of it. The champion has a name and he will exactly his revenge in Abu Dhabi.
We will see, imo islam is the smarter fighter, so Charles cant use his typical very aggressive style against islam again or I think it end the same way.
Olivera just stuck w the craft and got better. He also got better at what makes a good and exciting fighter which is just straight up finishing fights whether by submission or knockout. Dudes style is a mix of BJJ and Muay Thai like most great Brazilian fighters and that’s an exciting style to watch. People try to exclude him from the goat convo but I don’t think people realize how big a deal it is that he not just wins against the top contenders he finishes them.
he lost to islam. Islam already has a better resume than him, he beat two "goats" (as ufc fans call them) in charles and volk, back to back. Islam should be in that convo before charles
People love him for many reasons like for his massive win streak to the title or most submissions in ufc history or his ability to always make the fight exciting win or lose but I think above all else is because he NEVER gave up when most people would’ve like his injury with Swanson or being beaten by many fighters before that he came from nothing and he made sure he wasn’t going back to it and people seem to switch up easily once a fighter loses but ik this one will be around for a long time because he has something u can’t teach that’s heart the champ has a name and it’s Charles mf Olivera
Charles had tough opponents in his first fights in the ufc. Like he fought max, prime cowboy, prime cub, Brookins was good when he beat him. Then he got some crazy tear in his asophogus, like what? He never had anything handed to him
Just constant goddamn attack. Everyone feels their opponents out. Olives doesn't give a fuck at all. Straight to action and he'll adjust while throwing. Incredible experience watching him fight
@@raizelnnim That's a weird claim I am white and both are in my top 5 favorite UFC fighters but Izzy is a bit higher Let the dude just like what he wants🤷♂️
its crazy the brain dominates danger after becoming paralyzed to having the most submission wins. I can understand the first few losses becoming reacquainted with himself but to then find the neck so consistently is awesome! Like a pacifist run lol
What you missed in the video is that all those fights, from Ferguson to Justin Gaethe were all in the most part 6 month a part. Chandler, Dustin and Justin were. And then they book the Islam fight for 4 months later. He had to do a eye surgery, take 1 month off in between that. They rushed Islam to become champ after giving him the easiest road ever.
They didn't rush Islam. Islam jumped the queue because nobody wanted to fight him. Islam proved he's on a whole new level anyways... What's the point of fighting Justin f******* Gaethje ? We all saw what Khabib and Oliveira did to him. And same with Poirier. No wonder they ducked Islam...They can't grapple with these Daghestanis.
@@shadowzeenko3653 right whole different level lmao first title "defense" and he got destroyed by a fucking featherweight lmaoo dude could not even stand on his feet on his own after the 5th round and then claims some PFP shit dudes delusional but you can hear when he talks how dumb he is lmao dude has not even beaten anyone in the Top 7 or so and claims PFP 🤣
Oh please. If Charles wasn't ready to fight Islam he shouldn't have taken the fight. The UFC could have easily booked Islam vs Beneil for the title but every fan would have been calling Charles the true champion irrespective of the winner. Also Islam was ducked by every top contender other than Beneil, so the UFC had no choice but to book him up especially because he was on a lengthy win streak. Even Charles himself admitted he didn't want the Islam fight, he wanted Conor instead.
Eye surgery my a** ! Oliveira didn't need any eye surgery to beat up Poirier, Ferguson and Chandler. All of this was a built in excuse in case he would lose, cause he & his camp knew Makhachev was the only real threat to that title. He already had this s*** sitting in the back of his mind for quite some time. No wonder he wanted to fight Nate Diaz instead... He was so nervous in the lead up to that fight with Makhachev. He didn't want no part of Makhachev. He & his crew knew this was the worst matchup possible. They tried to downplay the daghestani and act in front of the media like he was a nobody, a bum, but they knew from the get go it was gonna be a bad fight for them. And now people are saying "Islam hasn't fought Poirier, Chandler & Gaethje !" Well ! No s*** Sherlock ! They can't even say his name ! Makhachev called out Chandler in front of his face, live on tv, and the guy didn't say s***...
@@markgiomblanco9813 You addressed literally nothing I said, just spouted your own agenda. You're an Islam hater, trying to act like the first Islam vs Charles fight was a fluke.
