VIDEO INTRODUCTION:
In 2013, the Chinese president Xijing made an announcement that took the entire world by surprise. This is when He made the announcement of something called the Belt and Road initiative and this initiative is by far the most crucial project that its going to cost China 1-8 trillion dollars, will take 27 years to be completed, involves 146 nations including major countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE and Russia and most importantly, it will make China the most powerful nation in the world!!! and as much as it scares me to say, but if the Belt and Road initiative goes well, India will be nowhere I repeat Nowhere close to China!!
So in perhaps the most important geopolitical episode of Think School, let’s try to understand,
What is exactly is the Belt and Road initiative?
How will this make China a global superpower?
and most importantly, what are the study materials that can help you understand China’s Masterplan better so that you can keep a check on what India is doing to counter it?

As a Singaporean, I would like to say we are not strictly speaking fully a 'US ally', there is no way that we would opt to block China's route through the Straits of Malacca, nor would we ever choose to do so. Official policy of Singapore government wishes to appease both US and China. Furthermore Singapore has a huge (>75%) ethnic Chinese population and polls conducted actually suggest many Singaporeans have good feelings towards China.

I think one critical factor that you missed about how powerful a country can be in the world is not just how it gets its natural resources but what it can do for the other nations around the world. Expanding on what you can do rather than limiting what the other country can do is what you should think as the most important priority. When you mentioned about TW's semi conductor industry, then it is true that majority of high end chips are coming from TW we are talking about nearly 90% but less than 5% of them are actually in use in devices like mobile devices and computing devices. If there is a war between Taiwan and China, Taiwan will be much worse off than Ukraine in its current war with China, the range of China's conventional arm is much more devastating than what Russian has. And you highlighted 800 US bases around the world but just how many wars has US won since the end of WW2? Zero, yes, Zero. At 7:46 mark you have told an absolute lie, when Sri Lanka first finance the loan it was 6.3% and then it was refinance through Export and Import bank of China at 2%. Also when you making claimed such as this, did you actually pay close attention to Sri Lanka's overall debt matrix? I doubted, because almost 50% of Sri Lanka's debt were to western lenders which with bonds and other form of credit charging an interest of 5-8% per year. At 8:28 mark you are making assumption without anything based on proven facts. The interest rate you quote again is incorrect. Did you have a chance to ask Sri Lanka about this port and who own the port? I can tell you it is Sri Lanka port authority that owns the port, the lease of port was to allow Sri Lanka having 1.4 billion dollars in 2017. What is also known is Sri Lanka spent about 5% of its loan repayments to service its Chinese debt while it is paying nearly 70% of its repayment to service 50% of its debt to Westen lenders. China does not hold majority stake in Djibouti it is a port shared with US military. You have so much inaccuracy in your research.

Hasn't America also used the "string of pearls" against China? US has military bases in Japan, Taiwan, Philippines and South Korea, so they have effectively a string of influence that could choke all of China's major trading points.

@AnonymousReader-er4eg
@AnonymousReader-er4eg 2 года назад
@@pcphunter6071 , yeah, "defensive", right... The first island chain was a US response to China's Communist Revolution. The US were the first to put their military bases (in their loyal client-states, also referred to as "dogs" or "boot-lickers" in China, due to their desperation for US aid and technology) near China, so China is simply defending her own national security. China isn't even communist today, socially yes, but the policies and economics aren't even communist anymore. China only calls itself "communist" for overemphasis on “historical continuity”. There wasn't a reason to keep the first island chain because China wasn't communist anymore by the 70s and 80s, but for some reason, the America kept it, because a) they were afraid of a new superpower rising and b) they wanted to piss off the Chinese. Why does the US care about China claiming the South China Sea? To this day, the US still has disputes in the Gulf of Mexico, due to the presence of oil in the region. Why does the US care about China claiming Xinjiang and Tibet? They claim "ethnic cleansing", but the population of minority ethnic groups in those regions have actually increased! Didn't the US illegally annex California and actually ethnically cleanse the dozens of tribes living there? Why does the US care about China claiming Taiwan? Didn't the US steal Texas from Mexico? Texas was never part of the US, but Taiwan was legally part of China for millennia. Taiwan to China is what the Falklands is to Argentina. Imagine if China built military bases in Cuba or Mexico or Hawaii. The US would defy it and say that "America is being defensive". But when China defies the US presence near their borders, hypocritical apologists of Western hegemony say that "China is being expansionist. The US is just afraid of the possibility that China will supplant them as a geopolitical superpower. Harder you try to stay at the top, the harder you'll come falling down. China and India have always been the superpowers. Europe and America don't want it to return to that, so they'll try every method, through their corrupt institutions, namely the WTO and IMF, to stunt growth in all other countries.

It is funny that this reporter is taking the view that the BRI is to counter India or US. In fact India was invited but refuse to join in the trade so was the RCEP. This was the extension of the ancient trade route. No one is force to join or leave. Everyone that joined, joined on their own accord. There wasn't any sanctions applied on any country that didn't join 😊.

It gives a good view of the modern Chinese state. 2) The China Dream: Great Power Thinking and Strategic Posture in the Post-American Era by Liu Mingfu, a retired PLA colonel & prominent CCP member. In this book, he talks about why the Democratic hegemony will fail & China will be the leader once the West collapses. This book gives a good perspective on how the CCP & its leadership sees the world.

would highly appreciate your views on the regarding topics My views on the whole China thing 1. ) See guys in very small countries and in underdeveloped countries of Africa, all that the west has done in 100s of years is give them 'aid' instead of development. China on the other hand is undertaking massive projects developing their infra because of which they had to lease their assets for say 99 years. Which case do you thinks is better? If there's no investment these countries will anyways not develop in the 99 years, So isnt it better that they develop infra, lease their assets for a time period and then it is all theirs👀 2.) China seems to be the only country currently who can keep a balance with the US. And if opponents are equal, no country would try to get excess dominance in fear of the other 3.) And the most important thing I agree that china would massively benefit from the BRI but dont you think it would open easy trade opportunities for those 146 countries from which it passes through?🤔 After all even they can use those roads

The road is on Iran's territory afterall. Moreover it is not the case. Those trade routes can be used by everyone. There are proper legal agreements before countries allow china to build the infra projects... I mean isnt it logical? Why would 146 countries agreee to literally give up their land to china for free?👀

African nations are institutionally weak, corruption is rampant, tribal wars and genocide happen all the time. Hence providing them loans is not prudent as they'd never have the capacity to pay it back. That's why western nations or global institutions don't extend generous loans to them as it would actually pain the citizens in the long run; only aid is offered. China takes the advantage of this situation and provides loan easily but at exorbitant rates. They don't generally repay and China takes the strategic assets in their countries. In the end people suffer.

Do these countries lose the right of access to required capital just because they are located in Africa? Moreover if whatever you said was true, why do IMF and all western countries kept giving loans to Pakistan and Sri Lanka?These countries are in far worse situation than many african countries Also i was never against Aid, but giving aid to the countries that have potential doesn't seem right to me

China has probably never had India as a teacher. China was already a united continental country 2,000 years ago, whereas India, until it was colonized by the British, was a scattered multitude of states, several of which were subjected to foreign rule in several dynasties. The concept of a nation-state in India came into being only after the end of colonization. China was culturally influenced by the Buddhist culture that originated on the Indian continent, with its roots in what is today Nepal, Buddhism was introduced to China in the Sui and Tang dynasties and formed various branches in China itself, blending Confucianism with parts of Taoism to influence northern and southern China, Korea, and Japan, and part of it spread to Tibet to form Tibetan Buddhism, and part of it spread to Mongolia, where it became the state religion. But if you want to talk about knowledge, what China actually received was a religious culture, not specific knowledge, China really learned knowledge from outside, during the Ming and Qing dynasties, before that, China's Han, Tang, Song, Ming and Qing dynasties had been the first or second in the world in terms of national power, and had been an exporter of knowledge until the late Qing dynasty, when it was defeated by the British in the Opium wars, and realized the advantages of the West brought by industrialization, and had been learning for for more than two hundred years, only to re-emerge in the last few decades. And China has never treated India as an enemy. The reason is also very simple, the gap between India and China's national strength is huge, and because there are the Himalayas and Tibetan Plateau blocking, China's troops on the border can threaten India's New Delhi, but the Indian army is not a threat to China, China's core is on the east coast, a full 5,000 or 6,000 kilometers away from India, which is why Taiwan is far more important to China than South Tibet and Asakchong to China.

I believe there can be many things India-china can cooperate on other than suppressing each other, it will only help the west to maintain their standard of policies and hegemony over others, also west will also come to hunt India as well when India's economy will try to surpass EU or the US its universal truth. what you guys think of my thought?? reply with respect don't use slang

Great content and well explained. As a viewer of your channel from Afghanistan, I would love and appreciate it if you make a video on Afghanistan's role and position in the coming years. As you might be aware the geopolitical importance of Afghanistan itself attract superpowers and in addition to it, it is cheap raw material and untouched natural resources. Afghanistan will play a key position to superpowers. Recently, the Taliban announced that China is planning to build an industrial city in Kabul in near future, surprisingly, it is the Chinese companies that are building it (not American companies which we expected to do but instead they betrayed us, F*** you America) and many Chinese companies representator are coming to Afghanistan freely walking in the areas we can't travel. so I want to know what will happen to us (the real losers, the innocent people who are becoming victims of others war) and what will America and India do in order to prevent china's progress in Afghanistan? being war field for over 4 decades are we going to experience another decade of war? will America or even India support Resistance groups by providing guns and money?. As of now, Pakistan plays a double-side game, working both with its western allies and China, and Iran is with China in the discussion of who Iran side b/w China and America, so can come to a conclusion that America and India lose most of their influence in this region and as result of it, would there be a transition of power in the world (from America to China)? I think the ongoing war b/w Russia and Ukraine is for a greater cause, don't you think? I would greatly appreciate it if you make a video in this regard. keep up the good work, thanks.

Now's the time to make it countrywide ; ofcourse I don't have clear view on the tools to do so in your country but as in India we say 'jagrukta' i.e. 'intellectual Awareness' and knowledge amongst common people will be the key. The Afghan Taliban are open to other companies and countries doing business in Afghanistan, it's those countries that need to make the offer. China has no scope for monopoly there UNLESS the West hands it to them on a silver platter, which is what they did in the Pacific Islands and most of Central Asia. As for China, wasn't it the former Afghan regime that was begging China for backing in its final years and even throwing the Uyghurs under the bus and calling them terrorists? When Afghanistan became independent from British imperialism the Afghan monarchy was the biggest backer of East Turkestan, but then in the 21st century the Afghan republic became one of its biggest haters.

I don't wanna call you a hypocrite but you certainly are acting like one. On one hand you talked about how "western media narrative" was manipulating the world into condemning Russia (which I agree with) but then here you are just using a western media narrative to prove your point. If you check actual reports, a lot of these countries have only 10-15% of their debt to China. We can't just blame economic mismanagement and corruption caused problems on China. Moreover most economists agree that the belt and road initiative would he amazing for global trade as it would completely slash delivery times and costs. I'm not saying the Chinese government are saints and they are doing this for the good of the world or anything, they certainly are shrewd and tactical, but so is any country which wants to become a super power. Overall, would call this whole video pretty biased.

Sadly, India can't do anything about the Belt and Road initiative. The only option left for india is to develop an Asian NATO comprising of India, US, UK, France, Japan, Australia, NZ,S korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Seychelles, Maldives, srilanka and bhutan. India, EU, US, canada, Japan, S korea, Singapore, Australia must come together to form a development organization to counter China's debt trap policy.

Trust me India needs to increase there speed of completing projects and should focus solely on self dependency. Many projects in India is plagued by corruption. We need to realize that our currency is currently very weak, and it will take no time to loose its remaining value if India gets in some type of war. Also, I think Pakistan should merge with India, other-wise China will gulp it.

There are unfortunate inaccuracies providrd by the Indian speaker. China dores not involve itself in debt traps for nations. The World Bank and IMF are the mainstayerd of shch predatory practices. In Sri Lanka fo example, China's intrrestcare a very reasonable 2% on average. It is the IMF that imposes drbtvlevels for distressed countries at 6% or more. The total debt by Chinese bank's on Sri Lanka's bookd smount to only 20 % of total loans to the country. 60 to 70% is due to IMF funding and from the West. Fake news purveyed by India and Indians to fulfil the West's appetite for lying only maked India a vassal state.

For normal Chinese, we classify the world into 3 (China, USA and others). We mainly focus on the competition with USA for all fields . No Chinese understand why India treats China as its main threat and India triggered the conflict with China in 1962 and 1988 ,2020. Now we are clear that India wanted to trap China by using some kind of necklace strategy. If India thought China as an enemy /competitor , China will be . Otherwise, China will be your friend if you just looked at the China/Pakistan relationship. In my opinion, India is not a sovereign nation and just a chessman of USA to play with China. China also has the strong relationship with these necklaced nations like Singapore, Iran, Vietnam, Indonesian.If China had the conflict with India, do you think these nations will support India ? No, they will stay neutral. So it is better for India to make friendship with China instead of conflict and develop Indian economy , improve Indian citizen living standard .
