A mention of byd is a subsidy from the Chinese government, without mentioning technological advantages at all. Tesla doesn't even have batteries. In addition, when it comes to government subsidies, the biggest beneficiary is Tesla, which has received a lot of subsidies for building factories and industrial chains in addition to sales subsidies from the Chinese government.
BYD is a joke. They sold mostly hybrids, not EVs . BYD is playing the same playbook as the CCP; copying and stealing other companies' technology. And then manipulating data to exaggerate their narrative. BYD is on top of the list as having the most repairs in China 😂 🤡 😂 My friend has been working in BYD for over 20 years now . He saw how BYD would disassemble other popular cars like Toyota and Tesla, and then copy them .
THEY OVERTOOK TESLA? as the biggest scam producer of EVs? yeah similar methods they took government subsidies produce more than they can sell and are filling landfills with the old models of EVs every day. Also they explode a lot.
Today, there was an accident in China where a BYD driver was electrocuted while sitting in the driver's seat and fell unconscious. It didn't rain and there were no crashes. It appears that liquid flowed from the battery and climbed onto the vehicle, causing an electric shock.
Here in Brazil, BYD is making a real revolution. The electric car market has always been more expensive than combustion cars, but with the launch of one of its cheapest models, she managed to cause a small revolution in the market, making car companies (electric and combustion based) lower their prices to compete with her. And this has not only happened in Brazil, I heard that BYD is revolutionizing all over Latin America with his aggressive prices. And all this in a period of less than 1 year! Very crazy!
I can say with a high degree of confidence that BYD will join the likes of Huawei, DJI, D@hua and ended up on the sanctions list of the US. The US' formula for staying at the top is simple; sanction any companies that it cant outcompete.
Agree 100% with you. Abusing the power of sanctions sooner or later the other countries and UN will realize that the power of sanctions is being abused , they'll end up ignoring sanctions put in place.
The Chinese formula is even simpler: theft of Western technology. The Chinese are experts in industrial espionage. What's more, they demand that Western companies hand over secrets so that they can set up in China. And it's past time to ban TikTok in the US, after all, American social networks have been banned in China.
Don't forget that the video game industry of China is also rapidly growing, the Black Myth Wukong coming this August is gonna be a big earthquake for the global gaming industry
Here in Malaysia, BYD went from something nobody knew to that premium EV everybody talks about in just a year. When I was in China, had many rides in BYDs such as the BYD Tang, and indeed they felt very well built and premium in comparison to Toyotas and Hondas there. Impressive.
Interesting. Here in the Philippines, most electric vehicles are the small and micro variants, i.e. Jetour, Wuling, Nwow. I rarely see BYD vehicles here. I hope they become available here as well.
@@ianhomerpura8937BYD is in the PH. Their Philippine operations are under the Ayala Corp, the fact that the conglomerate was willing to put their name on the line for BYD speaks volumes about how far they’ve come. BYD becomes so popular now in Thailand and changes Thai car market since end 2022 due to the pricing strategy comparing with Japanese and European cars
NIO, li AITO, X peng, huawei are considered the most high-end intelligent driving and black technology in China, and I hope to log in to Thailand as soon as possible. BYD is very ordinary compared to them, and BYD is Toyota in the electric car industry.
Foreign auto companies will also receive subsidies as long as they manufacture electric vehicles in China. Tesla, like BYD, has received many subsidies from the China government.
There are ghost cities full of unused chinese EV's . Because the political left refuses to tell this and only convey their ideology. Its just China and their lies.... and every media outlet falls for it
@@CripplingDuality video did not specifically points out the subsidies were given to all EV manufacturers including domestic manufacturers and foreign manufacturers
I experimented 3 years ago and purchased 4 BYD forklifts. Yes, they make those too. I was hesitant to purchase Chinese made equipment but was intrigued by the batteries. The biggest issue with forklifts is battery charging time, which for a typical lead battery in a forklift is 18 hours to do it correctly. Charge, equalize and cool down. The full cycle on the BYD battery is about an hour to hour and a half. That keeps you from having to swap batteries in forklifts which is fairly dangerous moving a 5K pound battery. You can use lithium batteries but they are incredibly expensive and the usable lift is about the same as lead which is 5 years before problems. The BYD batteries have a 10 year warranty. which just does not exist in the regular battery world. If BYD were to start making forklifts in USA they would dominate the market. They are a battery company that is now making things for the batteries to be used in.
@@iam_arnavisaha32Is China's EV Market Doomed? Foxconn Charges Into EVs, Buffett Unplugs BYD. Since last year, this figure has surged a staggering 1.06 million units. This, alone, is a wakeup call to the industry. Let's delve deeper and examine the case of the industry titan, BYD. In the grand panorama of 2022, they produced close to 1.8 million vehicles. However, the number of insured vehicles falls short at 1.58 million, quietly spelling out the fate of over 210,000 vehicles - accumulating dust in warehouses. If that doesn't raise eyebrows, consider this: in the first quarter of this year, BYD has reported an insured volume of 441,000 units. However, their production report from January to March shows nearly 548,000 units. This suggests an additional accumulation of more than 100,000 vehicles into the already bulging inventory.
Jeremy Clarkson on top gear was right when he did a special in China. “If the Chinese can do this much in less than a decade for their vehicles, imagine another ten years?”
It's not surprising at all. China has a tremendous amount of smart and hardworking people. Far more than the US today. Even Tesla's biggest factory is in China which accounts for over 50% of their manufacturing output.
I am a 2 year happy owner of model 3 who have tried many different electric vehicles but nothing felt like the tesla. My first BYD ride was an atto 3 and I wasnt impressed by the interior and driving experience. Yesterday i drove the BYD SEAL and my my was it an experience. Definately far superior build quality, material choice, comfort and design than the model 3 and for the same price. 😱 The only thing it lacked against the Tesla was its OS which was a little confusing but it can probably be worked out fairly quickly. All I gotta say is whoever underestimate or disregard the chinese automakers will face a rude awakening in the future. I dont see how any automaker will survive against the chinese except for Tesla and some premium german brands. Congrats to the BYD team from Morocco. You deserved it
@@RemusKingOfRomethats not due to globalization but due to the old fashion, extreme red taping and conservative approach western automakers (except Tesla) have to innovation. The autoindustry have been one of the most boring industries for decades with no real innovation but just small changes here and there. No one had the balls to take the lead and force the change except Tesla and after Tesla the chinese readjusted quickly and catched on. The first serial produced Li-ion electric car was actually not done by tesla but nissan, renault and VW (2010-2013) and the model s came out in 2012. What has happened since? Tesla have moved far ahead and so have the chinese but the europeans just stuck to their old and boring ways. If you are not able to quickly adjust and adapt like Tesla and the chinese you are not gonna survive in the future. Get in or get out.
BYD, like many Chinese companies, also invests in supplying markets that are often ignored by most Western companies. In Zimbabwe for example we've only seen a handful of Tesla cars trickle into the country over the past ~10 years, that have to be imported on an individual basis from Asia and the USA. This is partly because of the price of their cars but also because Tesla doesn't even have a dealership on the entire continent of Africa. BYD on the other hand has dealerships popping up across the world; 400+ cities, 70+ countries, and 6 continents. In Zimbabwe, we even have a BYD dealership servicing not only the growing EV market in the country but also the gap in retail, commercial and industrial solar power generation. By the time Tesla and other EV companies decide to supply these markets that they are overlooking, they might not stand a chance.
heres a fun fact in turkey, BYD doesnt stand for "Build Your Dreams". instead, it stands for "Bu gün, Yarın, Daima" Which translates to "Today, Tommorow, Always"
The brand "BYD" has no meaning at the beginning. It is just easy to register a trademark by 3 single letters in China back then. As BYD grow bigger and stronger, the brand has been given meanings. Apart from the official "build your dream", many Chinese kiddingly regard it as "Be Your dad". They are proud of a Chinese automobile brand who surpassed its foreign peers.
5:00 that's why Warren Buffett is so rich, such a visionary investor, just 10 years ago, when we call BYD a junk stock, he still kept a large share of BYD stock. A person who can see things so far away deserve to be rich.
Right? Even Elon musk laughed at BYD at the time. He didn't even consider the possibility that BYD could compete with Tesla. Let alone, beat Tesla in sales.
Munger invested in BYD when it was going bankrupt at $1 a share. Bloomfield lies - It was not making cars! Buffet admitted he knows nothing about technology let alone BEVs! Lately they have been selling out of BYD ion proportion to its increasing involvement in EVs. BYD has tried to sell its subsidiaries like its loss-making semiconductor company, but CCP stopped the sale. Government involvement is a very two-edged risk! BYD still makes all its very slim profits from ICE vehicles. Media needs to learn the distinction of a BEV from a hybrid. Hybrids will have a very limited market come mid next year when reduced CO2 limits hit in the EU and increasing in other countries including China.
I live in thailand, never saw a tesla before but saw a shitload amount of BYD on the road. It felt quite weird when you have a screaming turbo diesel pickup screaming pass you and then you see an ev follow up behind it.
And soon BYDs will be assembled in Thailand as well. Not a surprise I suppose since Thailand has always been the major auto production hub in the ASEAN region.
I decided to buy BYD instead of Tesla last month simply due to after sales service. Tesla seems to have insufficient service center here in Thailand (only 1) compare to hundreds of BYD’s.
Tesla produced 1.8 million EV Cars in 2023 , and 53% of these were coming out from their Shanghai Factory in China . Tesla US will not sell EV Cars they made in Shanghai within the US market . China was providing subsidies to Tesla as well as their local EV Car producers . China will be the biggest EV Cars producers in 2024 .
Remember all the fake registrations and car graveyards. It's fall just fake in China. Sad how no mayor news outlet seems to consider this. There are plenty of reports.
BYD and Tesla are both in the same EV industry but different market. BYD will dominate in terms of sold vehicles- like Toyota. Cheap affordable and reliable . Tesla will dominate middle class and probably more profit .
BYD 1st a successful Battery Company 2nd a successful traditional car company 3nd a successful semi-conductor company then how come they are not successful on EV......
BYD is super popular nowdays in Brazil with their eletric and hybrid vehicles. As in other markets, they started here in 2015 with a factory for eletric buses. In november of 2021 was when they started selling cars and since then their sales only grows. BYD Dolphin was the best selling EV of 2023, the sale of BYD electric models surpassed all other electric models added together and now they are in second position of EV and hybrid best selling brand, only behind Toyota. The expectation is to start production between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, with installed capacity close to 150,000 vehicles per year during the first phase of implementation in Brazil.

Neither Tesla nor BYD are "just a car company". The main reason (imo) that BYD can "scale up faster" is because they PLANNED for it when building the factories. They STARTED as a battery company. But When they began building ICE cars, they KNEW they would build EVs in those factories at a later date. . They were built to convert first to hybrids, then full EVs with minimum downtime. .
can't also forget the Chinese gov't protectionism -- banning all foreign battery competitors. Or their mercantilist policies -- threatening other nations with supply cut to prevent development of domestic industry -- eg, graphite supply.
For those who think that BYD obtains an unfair price advantage in competing in the European market through subsidies, I hope you know that BYD's prices in China can be as low as half of those in Europe at most. As for vehicle models and configurations, the products that BYD is allowed to export to Europe are almost obsolete in China.

On the other hand, BYD has arrived with excellent electric cars at a price equivalent to a Corolla. It also bought Ford's old factory in the north-east of the country.

BYD's success is not all attributable to government support. All manufacturers, including US, European, and Japanese companies, benefited from Chinese government's subsidies. Chinese market is actually more open than US and EU, which has encouraged competition and innovation. It's no surprise that giants like BYD would arise there.
Bull... They are literally subsidized by communist party. Add to that all the tech they stole from the west, add cheap labour, and of course you will get cheaper car. Right question is would it stay cheap if there is no competition?
What no one should forget is that before BYD took over the world, before Tesla and Elon were household names. Warren Buffett already had money invested in it years ago, which he exited right before this current peak. Oracle is an oracle for a reason.

From a small market beside China i.e Nepal. BYD cars are the hottest selling cars here in budget segment. The most appealing factor: Premium quality at economic price.
Western governments and companies have lost the plot. Instead of focusing on their economies and societies, they wasted their time on domestic politics and international interference. In the meantime some big Asian countries have been focused on improving themselves.
Whilst BYD might have already suprassed Tesla for both quality and also produced more efficiently, Tesla will do okay over time and stay in the market. They are inferior to BYD only on a technology basis, but Tesla do have a loyal following and that is important.
BYD sold 9% more battery EV than Tesla in the Q4 2023. Overall, BYD's annual “NEV" sales million! That places it in top 10 automobile manufacturers. But BYD is 100% electric! BYD is now selling in Japan, Europe, LatAm etc.
As a person living in Europe myself I think it’s shameful that Europe is trying to stop Chinese EVs. Here the ID.3, 4 and 5 are way too overpriced for what they are and while Teslas are priced relatively well, they’re still more expensive than BYD vehicles here. European manufacturers have always been overpriced in my opinion.
It will eat domestic market and jobs . China wants to make countries dependent on them . We have experienced this in India, as they have captured all mobile devices market and domestic market is lost. Everything is imported and increasing dependence
Practically there is very little incentive for US and Western automakers to switch because they are still selling millions of gas cars, especially expensive luxury SUVs and trucks. The Japanese companies have a lot to worry about.
Actually, US is the only major market still pushing gas cars. EU and China have been advocating EV. US is very conservative about EV since oil companies can lobby their politicians.

I actually saw a big byd sign on a building in Los Angeles off the freeway. I hope they do since they are cheap and will only put more pressure on Tesla and great cars. Here a Tesla model 3 costs about $20k more than the cheapest byd and about $10k more than the atto3. Tesla is an amazing car but I wanted something bigger and with a lot of features.
A month or two ago I saw a TV news report about the Israeli war. A BYD Dolphin flashed in the camera, and the car was riddled with bullet holes. BYD’s lithium iron phosphate batteries are indeed safe

Nobody is toast, 85% of the car global market is still owned by ICE, by the time we see a substantial change in the market, all the legacy car makers will get their share of the EV markets as well, the future of EVs is going to be Tesla followed by all major legacy car makers, Chinese car industry will be limited to China and a few other poor countries.
The other reason BYD beat Tesla is - looks. If you want to drive around in a jello mould, buy a Tesla, they ALL look the same, horrible looking cars. Every EV maker has overtaken Tesla in design and technology. We have an excellent choice of cars to choose from. The US car market is quite small and limited. Many vehicle manufacturers dont even bother selling in the US..
Sorry, but the first claim, that the PRC's support of EV's in "unprecedented" is bull. The US rebuilt itself to ensure everyone would want a car, then made gas cheap for it, on a scale that makes $30B in lower taxes pale in comparison. Even if you take the PRC's other policy supports for EVs, this is really no different from the many policy supports for car centric development taken by the US in the 20th century up to now.

so people should understand how big margin the European and japanese cars earned from customers. Thats also the reason they start to sanction chinese EVs
There are really only two things hindering EV mass adoption. That is electrical infrastructure and the barrier to entry fee. As time has gone past, the electrical infrastructure in many places has progressed very well with Tesla playing a big part in this system which is smart, own the car and the way to charge it. That being said however, the car is important too, on this Tesla has really been a disappointment in my opinion. The average joe simply does not have thousands of dollars to buy a new EV that will likely degrade faster when compared with used combustion cars. More cars means a bigger push for electrical infrastructure, Tesla put the cart before the horse on this one in my opinion so it is no wonder that BYD which has vehicles at half the starting price is getting market share very fast and deservedly so.
Tesla is still king outside of china , electrical infrastructure depends country to country, the ev revolution is slow because the ice have centuries of popularity but it is inevitable either full electic or hybrid

Why are we congratulating BYD's rapid revolution which is destroying America's and Europe's car economy? It's impossible for our automakers to catch up to BYD's dominance since China controls 90-95% of the rare earth material production which is crucial to the production of batteries. Due to the export quota created by the Chinese government, the same rare earth materials cost twice as much outside China. Due to a lack of government action, our car industries will collapse and see the rise of Chinese EVs. The same happens in other sectors which need rare earth materials and we will soon see the downfall of western industries and the rise of China's military
